Another option is a modular, you can pay what your budget can afford and the best part is almost instant gratification as they can set these homes up pretty fast. My son went that route about 20 years ago and purchased a beautiful large 2 story home that still looks as nice today as the week it was set up. Al

Get Your Copy Before It is To Late

When I first saw this I thought it was a memes joke! Nothing like being in love----With Yourself! -
Back before being bought out by S&W TC decided to enter the rimfire market with a 22 rifle built in the old fashioned traditional way using steel and walnut, the rifle was called the "Classic." A magazine fed autoloader was the route taken, the receiver was made from steel, the magazine was made from steel, the barrel was threaded into the receiver and had a match chamber, and for the final touch the stock was done in good old American walnut. The fit and finish of both metal and wood was outstanding, everything about it was my kind of firearm. When I heard about the classic being introduced I was standing in line waiting with cash in hand tp purchase one and got one in my hands. I quickly found that with match ammo the Classic would shoot groups right up there with my high end bolt actions. On Rimfire Central com there were owners that were winning matches and the Classic was riding high. The Classic's reputation came tumbling down shortly after it was discovered the extractor was slightly oversize and on some rifles cause a tiny chip of metal to wear away in the extractor groove. To be perfectly honest the chip had zero effect on accuracy or reliability of the rifle but that was all it took to destroy the Classic's stellar reputation and sales plummeted. The sad thing is the whole problem was easily solved with with just a small amount of metal removed off the extractor so there was no contact with the barrel. I did the fix myself along with a bit of trigger work and I have no chip. TC tried to rectify the problem with dropping the Classic and bringing out a new rifle called the Benchmark which was basically the Classic without the extractor problem and a laminated stock. This did not shore up sales and sadly the whole works was dumped when purchased by S&W. Their new rifle is a cheaper to manufacture Ruger clone and there is no doubt it is a fine rifle but it is no Classic in my eyes. Anyhow yesterday I had my Classic out for some exercise and with the Federal match ammo I was using she was laying them in there nicely and a couple of Flies got their angel wings. So if you happen to run across a used Classic in your favorite gun store they can be bought a lot cheaper than what they are worth in my opinion and if you are in the market for a 22 rifle you will not go wrong taking it home with you. Here is my new 3X5 I am hanging below Old Glory! -
I have been doing a lot of rimfire bench shooting and when I touched off this 45-70 I was not thinking recoil and benched and held it like a rimfire rifle and she came back rattled my brain pretty good and I think loosened my teeth fillings LOL. I have a Marlin 95 45-70 that is not at all bad to shoot but I am firing factory 300 gr that are not loaded hot like my handloads out of it. I once had a Ruger 77 458 Win Mag and that was over 10 pounds in weight which made it just a bit more pleasant and tolerable. While it will not be a favorite on the bench plinking for hunting it will be no problem. Approximate ballistics to 200 yards Al

I picked up a new Thompson Center Encore frame to use with a 45-70 barrel I have, I had to do a little fiddling around stoning the bolt so the hammer would cock, got that done and took her out to test some handloads. Started out a 50 yards and although the 2.5 Leupold scope when mounted was bore sighted I could not hit the paper, brought out my other bore sighter and did another bore sighting, took another shot and still missed the target, that was a first for me. Anyhow moved to the 25 yard target and found I was shooting low. Got the elevation in the ball park and proceeded to sight in with Barnes 350 gr spitzers loaded hot. The left target was at 25 yards, two in the same hole. Moved things back out to 50 yards again, first shot a little high made an adjustment and had two touching about 1.5 inches high and that it where she is staying. I have to say this rifle shoots great but it's light weight (6 1/4 lbs) makes it very unpleasant to shoot recoil wise. Al

Biden/Harris 2020!
airedale replied to Delete's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Truer words were never spoken is correct, so you should not be surprised when you are on a site such as this with folks that literally live and breath this outdoor life activity and lifestyle that is discussed here that they want to defend it vigorously. You poke a stick in their eye saying you are for and are going to vote for politicians whose party platform-agenda are doing everything in their power to end it and that is no exaggeration. You say you are an avid hunter but you are cutting your own throat voting for them. Like oil and water the Democratic party and the outdoor life sports do not mix, there is a constant onslaught from members of the Democratic party chipping away at everything we do. Al -

On a sad note James 'Kamala' Harris, former WWE wrestler, dies at 70 - CNN https://www.cnn.com/2020/08/10/us/wwe-kamala-james-harris-death/index.html Aug 10, 2020 · (CNN) Former WWE wrestler James Harris has died at age 70, according to a news release from the wrestling company. Harris, who performed in the ring as Kamala, made his WWF debut in 1984. The Ugandan Giant was a favorite of mine, I saw him wrestle at the War Memorial in Syracuse back in the day. -

Well let us look at what Harris is on the record for, how is this just for starters! Raising Taxes Defunding Police Green New Deal Open Borders and free everything to those that come through! Eliminate Fracking Abolish ICE, they are akin to the KKK Big Time Gun Control and says if she is ever President she will control guns through executive orders. Eliminate private insurance, Medicare for all -
That is a good message board Rattler, and worth joining, I have belonged to it since 2005, do not post a lot there and posted mostly in the Hunting Dog section as I have a bunch of PA hunting dog men that are friends. There are some real beauties on this board and in typical libtard fashion they convict before there is even a trial. Al

Congratulations, sounds like you found your little slice of heaven, good luck and happy hunting and shooting. Al

As the hunting season approaches I am trying hard to be as ready as possible, probably a case of going overboard but after going through that bout of Lyme it will put the fear into you, I figure I can not be too careful. An outfit coming up with a shot for Lyme disease would be great in my book. Al

A interesting photo of a hog with Wart Hog type cutters taken a few years ago by boar hunter Scott Cain and one of his Airedales.

Where you may run into problems is with any feathers that are from Raptors, they are protected big time, why I do not know as there are plenty of them around these days. Al

I hear you, I can say this Taurus is not alone, the last three firearms I purchased needed to have work done on them. I just picked up a new Thompson Center Encore frame as I have several barrels chambered in different calibers and got sick of constant barrel swapping. Anyhow a brand new barrel's lug was slightly out of spec and would not push in a safety catch in the frame to allow the hammer to be cocked. I had to spend a couple of hours stoning it to make it fit right. My new Henry single shot had heavy trigger pull that I had to work on to make that satisfactory and now has a recall of the trigger. It works perfectly fine now and I see no problem with it so it is not going anywhere, Last but not least was a Kingston Garand 22 autoloading rifle that duplicates a real Garand in feel and weight, that gun was a mess with many ill fitting parts that I had to spend hours on either changing or stoning to get proper fit, took me awhile but I finally got that working the way it should. No choice in the matter on the Kingston because they folded and filed bankrupt because of their poor quality control. Even with all the problems it is now one of my favorites. Like I said the Taurus rifles are very nicely done and work perfect so go figure, seems like a crap shoot with everything these days. Al

I have been looking at a handgun purchase for several months, I can tell you they are in very short supply especially 357 Revolvers. A revolver model that has recently caught a bit of interest from me is the Taurus Raging Hunter, I have been reading a lot about them and have seen quite a few videos that have been very favorable. Taurus in the past has had mixed reviews about their handguns quality and service wise but it sounds like they have been on the right track and now have a new manufacturing plant open in Georgia. The Raging Hunter was awarded 2019 American Hunter handgun of the year 2019. On a personal note I do own two Taurus 22 stainless rifles that have performed for me flawlessly and I think very highly of. While not my first choice if things do not loosen up soon with some stock becoming available I just may try the Raging Hunter in 357, these are also chambered in 44 mag and 454 Casull.

Corona Virus Thread
airedale replied to Al Bundy's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
The owner auto repair shop I use decided he and his wife should be tested because of contact with many people. They went to a place in Syracuse, filled out their paperwork and sat down to wait and be tested. After a couple of hours of waiting with no test in sight he decided to hell with that and left. A couple of weeks later he got a letter in the mail saying they tested positive! -

If something can be come up with at Jerry's 400 yard range depending on the date I may be able to get away and take run down to meet some of you folks, I have a TC Encore with a 25-06 barrel that I would like to take a few shots with at the 400 yard mark. Al

I once owned a stainless regular Blackhawk in 357 with a 6.5 inch barrel, it was a good shooter and built like a tank. A buddy of mine had a Super Blackhawk in 44 and it also was a fine shooter. The Ruger single actions are known to be very strong and reliable. What I do not care for is the feel and fit of the single action revolver grip in my hand, it is one of those subjective things that one either likes or does not but those revolvers certainly perform. I hunted with a 6.5 inch barreled S&W model 29 for many years, killed several deer with it and a couple of hogs, it was a gun that felt perfect in my hands and I shot it very well. Below is a hog I took with it in Tennessee many moons ago, we were hunting with dogs and the guy used a Border Collie to bay which is pretty unusual to say the least. When caught up with a hog she would keep it in place the same as herding a sheep with tremendous speed and quickness. The hard part of the whole deal was getting a clear shot at the boar because she was circling him so fast. Al

I am seeing this as a political hit job to neuter the NRA in the middle of the most important presidential election of our time, ask Hillary or Al Gore if the NRA is a sham. The Democrats know well their influence on elections, this has Bloomberg and Soros written all over it, getting rid of corrupt officials is one thing but dismantling is something entirely different. I have been around long enough to know that gun ownership in this country would be entirely different today had it not been for the NRA and I for one am not going to abandon the ship. Al
-
The idea that the NRA could have prevented or can wave some sort of wand and repeal the Safe Act is folly, they can file lawsuits till the cows come home. Nothing is going to change because the safe act was done legally by legislation under our laws by politicians and to get it repealed has to be done the same way. Whose blame is it that we have the Democrat politicians in office running the state, it is not the NRA! They give us a clear rating of all politician's stance on firearms matters, and it is up to the people to use that information when casting their votes. You want to get rid of the safe act? that is done by not sitting on our ass election day, we have to get out to the polls and start voting Democrats out of office at all levels! One more thing, if anyone thinks the NRA is not relevant they should ask themselves why the Democrats are Hell bent for leather to destroy the organization by any means. Al
