  1. This may have been discussed already but, does anyone have or use these? I was thinking mainly for spring turkey hunting as my hearing is real bad especially in my left ear. And to help with muzzle blast when hunting out of a blind. There are a bunch of types out there now besides the original electronic ear muffs. Looking forward to comments. Thanks
  2. I hear you Huey! I never thought about the size of the foot stirrup until I had to cock my Pse Fang while wearing my arctic pro muck boots. I just happen to have a wooden boot puller I made for removing my rubber boots in the truck so I position the boot puller into the stirrup and step on it. works to get the xbow cocked at the truck. I haven't had to worry about cocking it in the woods after a shot for example. I'm with you, the manufacturers should have taken into consideration the heavy boots a lot of us wear while hunting! https://thundering85dnj.wordpress.com/2015/05/23/wooden-boot-jack-plans-plans-diy-how-to-make/
  3. They're almost done, still need to apply a couple of coats of clear. Trying to decide if I want to bother adding the words "Bills" on each board? Thay have to be done by next Saturday, not sure I'll have the time?
  4. what ? are we getting snow? it's 61 degrees out! lol
  5. Gotta make a run to tge Sausage Maker, I'm out of pepper stick seasoning! Had jyst enough for 5lbs. These will sit in fridge today and smoked tomorrow. Yum yum, I love these especially with the cheese added.
  6. My sister sent these to me as a retirement gift! Can't wait to see how they are when it's really cold.
  7. A little late to this conversation but, I like Lawd do the deer processing with commercial grade plastic wrap and freezer paper. It works great for the large cuts. I double wrap the ground in 1lb pkgs with the plastic wrap and just freeze. It never gets any freezer burn because it's always gone by next deer season. I do have a vac sealer from Wally world, about $100 iirc, I use it often to freeze pre cooked items like chicken, burgers, etc. My wife cooks a bunch of chix breast on the grill and we shrink wrap and freeze them, pull out, thaw, and heat up and they taste like they just came off the grill! Sure beats standing out at the grill in January! It also works great for freezing soups, chile etc. but the trick is pre freeze the soups in a container and then transfer it frozen into the bags to seal, that way you don't have to deal with the liquid getting into the vac sealer. It is an extra step but well worth it! I just smoked 2 pork butts for pulled pork and we shrink wrapped it in 8oz pkgs, perfect for 2 sammies! We even froze and shrink wrapped the left over lasagna from xmas dinner and will probably thaw and have for dinner sometime this summer! It works great for camping because it packs into a cooler frozen and won't leak once thawed. Just my thoughts on the subject, your individual results may vary.
  8. Sorry to hear this, but 18 years wow! That's tough, he will be missed.
  9. Lawd, how much are talking for a pair of socks? And do they have good warm hunting socks? i might have to take a stroll over to Maple Rd. soon!
  10. If Tacks would have made it, there would definitely have been pics, not sure a family friendly forum would allow them?
  11. Seriously, if I didn't have the date on my phone, I would have missed my own party! My phone set off an alarm yesterday at 3:45 and i thought what is this? I totally forgot it was Friday! Great time, really appreciated all the friends that bought me way too many beers!
  12. I picked up a PSE Fang a couple of years ago. It was from a dealer and never used so it was new just not brand new. My question is how often should the strings and cables be replaced? I assume that because of the pressure they must be under when cocked for an all day hunt that they probably don't last long? I realize that they are designed for this but it kinda scares me! I heard that you should replace every 2 years but most guys replace every 4-5 years? Bottom line I think I should get new ones before next season! Now it's a question of where do I go to get it done?
  13. Correct me if I'm wrong but you need a NY pistol permit or a permit in the state you reside in to be able to get your PA permit?
  14. Happy New Year to all my NY Hunting friends and family! Hope this years is better than the last! And what's with all the Jan1 birthdays? Is 1-1 the default setting for your b-day if you don't put in a date on your profile?
  15. Moho it's this coming Friday 1-3-20, sorry for any confusion.
  16. Change of plans, we will be meeting next Friday at Snyder Bar & Grill on Kensington Ave east of Harlem rd. 4pm. Not sure who was going to stop by but wanted to be sure you all knew. Nice thing is I'll be able to walk (stagger)home from there!
  17. Happy Birthday Cynthia! Pace yourself, Gotta last till midnight!
  18. I thought about making things like this to sell, but the licensing BS would put me out of business before i even started!
  19. I made myself a set of cornhole boards a couple of years ago. Now im making a new set to donate to a fund raiser for my neighbors son who had cancer. I hope ther bring in a lot of $$$.
  20. Almost out of pulled pork, so today I'm doing a couple of butts. Weather is going to suck so I might as well stick around the house.
  21. I use a cheap wally world dehydrator and it takes about 4.5 hours. 3lbs of ground fits perfectly and I don't have to rotate the trays. Put it in the garage on a timer works good. Just have to remember it's out there cause the timer is 24 hour and will cycle back on again! I did that once and had bacon instead of jerky!
  22. Here we go the great jerky debate! TF I'm sure you tried my jerky made with ground, it's not dog treats! I like the ground jerky as it is so much easier to make. I just took 3lbs of ground out of the freezer to thaw and by tomorrow i will be eating jerky during the Bills game!
  23. Today is my last day at work, I finished the race! Next Friday some guys are meeting at the Irishman on Main st in Williamsville for a drink. Thought maybe some of the local guys from the Academy could stop in for a cocktail? After 4pm. Like we need an excuse to have a drink!!
  24. Happy Birthday Wooly! Hope you have a great day making wood chips!
