Water for hunting cabin

Permanent power. -
My buddy has a trailer converted to a hunting cabin. He has a septic system but no running water. He has a rain gutter that fills a 55 gal plastic drum and from that he fills 2.5 gal containers and stacks them in the tub to use for flushing the toilet. He asked me to help install some kind of water system to be able to use the shower. I thought I would throw this out here to see what input you all could provide. He has obtained a large plastic container approx 300 gal, a submergeable pump, and an electric hot water tank. The plan is to set the large tank with the pump outside and continue to use it for collecting rain water. Then install a 30gal holding tank above the ceiling to supply the toilet. The thought is the elevated tank will provide water pressure so a pump will not be necessary to run the water. I do know that drain valves will be required as we don't plan on keeping the cabin heated when not occupied. I will probably build an enclosure to insulate the tank so we can use it later into the hunting season and not have the tank freeze up. My question is, has anyone installed any type of temp water supply to a cabin and what are the downfalls or issues I can expect to encounter? Also, I realize that I need to filter the gutter feed as I don't want the large tank to fill up with debris and plug the pump. Just not sure how to filter the gutter feeds without having them clog up with leaves etc. As usual, thanks for the help.

We haven't made any specific plans yet. Usually we would be working on a trip to So. Cal. to visit my son and DIL. haven't booked that yet. Hopefully we can go in August? We do have campsites booked for Finger Lakes in July, if they open the State parks by then? A lot is up in the air right now but I do believe we will start coming out of this in about a month if people don't get to crazy and F everything up! I do plan on turkey hunting in May, but probably by myself and not with the usual buddies. My buddy was just asking me if I could come down to his cabin and help him start to install some kind of water system. He doesn't have running water in the trailer. He collects rain water and fills 2.5 gal jugs to flush the toilet. I really want to help him but my other half thinks I'm crazy to go until this pandemic is over. I'm thinking leave Erie county (1730 confirmed cases) and go to Allegheny county (28 confirmed cases) whats the problem!!

My daughter is outside of Baltimore and she says she can't find chicken any where? She feeds her dog with chicken and rice when he has an upset stomach, which is more frequent lately. I know i can find chicken around here but that doesn't help her. I didn't expect anyone on this site to be able to help, but you never know?

NY to Allow online Hunter education
2012_taco replied to Culvercreek hunt club's topic in General Chit Chat
From what I read on the DEC posting it is only for a limited time to allow first time hunters to get their safety course in and be able to spring turkey hunt. I believe this was just a reaction on the states part to the number of calls they got regarding all the classes being cancelled due to the Corona virus pandemic. I don't believe the state is going to go all online for training/education. Although, once they realize that it saves them $$ things may change. -
NY to Allow online Hunter education

I just saw this on FB, I forwarded the link to a friend who's son was supposed to get his course in last month. I was planning on taking him out for spring turkey but his class got cancelled. Maybe he can get his license in time for the youth hunt? -
Is that the 25 year medallion set? That's nice! $$$ I've got several prints, no sculptures, most of the stuff is in storage as i don't have anyplace to put things. I do have a big print that was done by Rob Keck and signed. I'll have to dig it out and post a pic.

Straight venison, with no pork or beef fat added, shrink wrapped will be ok. The summer sausage and slim jims have pork added and probably some cure, the cure will help them keep longer in the freezer but I wouldn't go more than 1-2 years personally. I've eaten 3 year old venison and it was fine, maybe lost some flavor but it hasn't killed me yet!

Happy Easter everyone!

So far I have ordered from Buffalo Dino, and a pizza from Tino's. Last night I had fresh perch fry to go from Curtis' garage kitchen! That was the best!! We were diligent with the social distancing but still managed to have a couple of cold ones while waiting for the fish to cook.

Sorry Bob, I thought I posted this pic, maybe I put it in the "whats in your smoker" thread. They are ok, I think they need more seasoning?
-
Not to bad, could use some more seasoning

Great thread Moho! I'm fine and don't need anything. If anyone in the Amherst/Williamsville/WNY area needs anything let me know, I'm pretty sure i can Lawd to help you! Lol!!

Happy Birthday First light!

1st time trying Brats, I figured as long as I got the smoker out might as well do a few pepper sticks too.
-
I definitely need to work on my stuffing skills! (I hear a Pygmy joke coming) I'm going to lightly smoke these Brats along with a small batch of pepper sticks. At least I know the pepper sticks will be good.

Recipe calls for powdered milk and milk, I only have skim in the fridge! I might have a can of evaporated milk, maybe that will work?
-
Well how was it??
-
I'm at a stand still,I thought I had powdered milk in the pantry, nope. My wife is out shopping and said Wegmans and Aldis neither had any. Hopefully Tops has some or I'm screwed. Pics coming if I can finish this?

Ok, I'm going to give it a try. With some extra venison thanks to Lawdwaz!

I could see paying to have a Euro mount done if I were hanging the mount in my house. But I hang my racks in my garage and in my shop so I'm fine with my sub-standard work!
