  1. I've always wanted to try to carry my recurve on my back to go to the archery club to shoot. Its 24 miles each way and would save a ton of gas. The side car would be the ticket.
  2. how come having a "fat chance" or a "slim chance" mean the same thing?
  3. if it is the closer that is the problem, then the the limit switch on the track needs to be moved. You should be able to loosen up the front switch and move it towards the door to change where it stops the door. if the door works when not connected to the opener, then it has to be the adjustments on the closer travel. Google the brand of opener and you should be able to find the info on how to adjust it. Good luck
  4. how about ..she was pretty ugly?
  5. great job, try to resist the temptation of visiting the site too often, leaving too much scent could spook the bucks from the area.
  6. Hit a deer @30 yrds. in the front shoulder with powerbelts, he never missed a step!! That was the second shot, first shot ended up killing the deer. After discussions with a friend I tested them at the range, shot into a stack of 8" newspaper, bullet penetrated 3" into paper and I found the bullet in 3 pieces. Shot hornady 240 gr. into same set up, bullet penetrated 8" of newspaper and blew a 3" hole out the back. End of story.
  7. I've been looking for discarded artificial trees for a while now and I never see them, I guess the local garbage pickers are just too quick.
  8. what goes on in the blind ...stays in the blind....
  9. I went by the site last night and they hung a banner on the store front "Coming soon" I bet they will add a new store front but not tear down the entire building. I agree the location is great for them as it is visible from the 90, easy on and off access. they will go there as it is in Cheektowaga not the city of Buffalo, political BS is not the same.
  10. I'm open to any ideas, I will probably make another for the other side, cup holder for your ex. large latte...
  11. I used a pop up blind for turkey hunting this year more than ever, and I started looking into ways to place things to keep them within reach and off the wet ground. Looked at Ebay and saw some ideas. I made a shelf out of scrape pcs. of plywood, it attaches to the cross poles inside the blind(Ameristep Big House) with a couple of 1/4" wing nuts. I epoxied the bolts so they won't loosen up. should hold my calls and I added a bow hook to support a gun or hang my bow. I will post pics as soon as I figure out the tech stuff.
  12. I use a digital probe and it was sounding off, I just didn't hear it over the roto tiller.
  13. went out yesterday, took a youngster, heard 1 bird across the road, couldn't get close without a long walk so I tried to call him across the road. No luck, called in a hen, it was a beautiful day, sorry I couldn't make it happen for this first timer.
  14. got working in the yard and let the smoker overheat, now I've got a batch of over done snack sticks. Yuk, I hate it when I ruin a whole batch, too dry. They will probably be ok in spaghetti sauce or in an omelet. Taste is good jusct need a beer with each stick!
  15. good idea using a ratchet strap above the brace, I hate the way the stand shifts as you get to the top and have to reach around the the tree to fasten the ratchet strap. mine is a cheap 15' from dick's and I hate the metal seat, I like to stand up next to the tree and the seat is in the way. I'm thinking of cutting the platform seat out and making a padded fold up seat to replace it. Summer project. Also, when I set up the stand I always place a 2"-3" branch under the first step and set it by jumping on the step, keeps the stand in place and it can't sink past the branch.
  16. sticks are in the fridge resting, will smoke then in the AM. Lawdwaz, they should be ready to taste test by noon. Right after you get back from hunting.
  17. I would get there early and listen for gobbles. Go after 1 if you get the chance, you can always sit the field edge later. The birds may show you their route to the field so you know how to set up on them the next time. good luck and shoot straight.
  18. probably more taste testers than sticks!
  19. probably smoke them tomorrow(not hunting)smoking game meat is almost as much fun as hunting it!
  20. Thanks for the link, now that I've seen it done I will give it a try. I'll post the results later. Thanks again.
  21. I recently read that the DEC is considering extending the season until the end of May. I don't think I would want to screw up a good turkey hunt by shooting a coyote.
