  1. Thanks for the story BurmJohn. It sounded like you had a great weekend, just having that many deer around you plus a huge buck without getting busted must have been very exciting. Best of luck next time in those woods, nice looking area!
  2. Welcome Vincy, Best of luck hunting New York!
  3. Tree stand I usually bring a bottle. If you don't have one then just do your thang. When I'm on the ground though I usually just go a few feet away from my blind or if I'm walking I stop and go where ever. I think it may spook some deer but not all. Just like a deer call sometimes spooks a deer,LOL
  4. I use to carry during Bow just for safety reason's pack of coyotes, aggressive bear, confrontation with a crazy person in the woods,LOL..But I do not carry during Bow anymore as it is illegal and I do not need the hassle if I am patted down by a DEC officer just for my own personal safety. During rifle though I always carry my SS 357. S & W it's nice and small, doesn't weigh too much and is perfect if I have to finish off an animal that hasn't expired yet.

  14. The Buck in the first picture doesn't look at all like the one in the second. I do see the piece missing from the ears in both pictures however the second picture Buck is a mighty fine looking bruiser....Best of luck in N.H.!

  19. Way to go Jim!..Congratulations on your first Doe with the bow...I'm sure you'll be back very soon looking for that Monster Buck you saw...Best of luck!!
  20. Not pointless. Deer are vocal and calling this early with a fawn call (distress call) wiil bring Does in running!!. A Doe Grunt and Contact calls are also good they use them to contact other Deer. As for the Bucks maybe a soft tending call. Since the Rut and Sparring hasn't started yet, you don't want anything too loud to scare them away! Best of luck with the calling they do work at the right times.
  21. Way to go on the first day of Bowhunting L.I....Congratulations nice Buck!...Thanks for the pic too!
