I would be hard pressed to call anybody that acted like that my friend. I'm happy for anyone that succeeds on my property be it family or friends, and I dont take charge of stands only because of pictures. I would hate for somebody who invites me to their property and then pull the "its my property" deal. Club or no club, excellent hunting or not that would be the last time I would go to that property. Like someone mentioned come the rut that deer may not even be on your proprety or you may have better chance to tag him on another part of the farm. His routine will most likely change when he becomes hard horned.

Be careful with the straight urea as it can burn your plants if not applied correctly, Typically after a month of seeding, you want to go in and fertilize again, can use 15-15-15. The triple 10 you used for the brassicas is a little low on the nitrogen that I would use as the Brassicas due require more nitrogen and if you have triple 15 left over you can use then next spring to fertilize any fruit trees. You really have to look at the health of the brassicas after one month to determine what type of boost they will need in fertilizer. Again, if you go with straight urea be careful.. Good luck....

Looking good John, glad to see you are enjoying the food plot aspect of hunting, really makes you get involved with the land instead of just hunting it. Makes hunting much more enjoyable and satisfying to see the fruits of our hard labor......Yeah dont think that corn will work out this season (oh well...live and learn), however next fall try to get that corn in ground by beginning to middle of June (atleast thats what farmers do by me), at this time of year corn in my area is head to shoulder high...Best of luck...

Yeah if I was you I would let him go another year... That is a whopper..Good luck and be sure to post pictures when hes on the ground.

Sugar Beets already getting nipped
NYBowhunter replied to NYBowhunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
What you see is a tiny glimpse of that food plot, fencing off with even the simplest of methods would be quite the job......three sides of that plot has no trees, so that would require placing lots of stakes.....I'm confident that the plot will hold up fine.....we have a tremendous apple crop this year and plenty of clover.....lots to keep them fed. Will keep you all posted as how they hold up. -

Sugar Beets already getting nipped
NYBowhunter posted a topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Here are pictures from part of my Brassica plot where I planted the sugar Beets two weeks ago and as you can see the deer are not even giving them a chance..... > But in all...the beets, Turnips and Broccoli Rabe are growing nicely..... -
Here are pictures that I retreived this past weekend, I have a 5MP bushnell TrophyCam and liked it so much that I picked up the newer 8MP version. Here are first pictures from it.

How many deer does your family consume per year?
NYBowhunter replied to First-light's topic in Deer Hunting
We took 5 last year, one my friend took and another that my uncle took home, the other 3 feed myself wife and my four kids along with my mom and dad and I always give out some to friends and family that dont hunt but enjoy eating venison. My neighbor upstate didnt get one, so we gave him some deer as well. -
To spray or not to spray
NYBowhunter replied to Eslerman's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I'm not a fan of spraying only because I dont want to add chemicals into my soil and or chemicals that might leach into my stream. Having said that as far as planting clover keep clover fields mowed to about 6 inches in height and they typically will out compete weeds. I also plant a brassica plot each year in middle of July that will be utilized as a fall/winter plot, what I do is plow under that field in the beginning of July and let that sit for 2-3 weeks which for the most part will kill all grasses/weeds, then I'll come back and disc the plot , harrow the plot, add my fertilizer and lime, harrow again, then add my brassica seeds....this system has worked well thus far for me without the use of chemicals.........In the picture, to the right is a clover plot and left is a fall turnip plot. Best of luck, keep us posted on your progress. -
4F in general is not big on bear, I hear they are around however I have never seen one in the Otsego/Deleware county borders. Great deer and Turkey hunting if you get into a great spot and most areas are big on agriculture, not bad also for small game, have taken my share of rabbits and grouse. Heres picture of a buck I took this past season in 4F. Best of luck. Let me know how 4F hunting works out for you.

Need to plant something next weekend-help!
NYBowhunter replied to First-light's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
At this time of year, a brassica plot would be a great choice. Last week I put in a turnip plot with ladino clover , Sugar beets and Broccolli Rabe. As G-man noted adding clover will boost nitrogen when you plow it under for next fall. Best of luck. -
This weekend plowed

This weekend plowed
NYBowhunter replied to NYBowhunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
In Otsego county has been quite the opposite, lots of rain on and off. The ground was nice and moist when I plowed. Hopefully it will stay that way when I get my seeds in the ground. -
This weekend plowed
NYBowhunter replied to NYBowhunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I ordered the purple top turnips and beets this morning from a seed company in Iowa, I hope it works out. It stinks but my local Away where I get all my seeds from was not able to get me the beets or PT turnips seeds. -
This weekend plowed
NYBowhunter replied to NYBowhunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
No pictures just yet, but hope to have some in the near future. I will setup a camera on the plot once I get my seeds in. -
Well this weekend I plowed under the Brasscia plot area and made it larger. In two weeks I'll go back up to Disc, lime, fertilize harrow and plant half in PT turnips and other half in Sugar Beets. Had hard time this year getting seeds that I wanted from my local Agway so I ordered from a seed co. in IA. Will keep you all posted on how these seeds workout. First time planting sugar beets will let you know how that works out as well.

Lets see your hunting tree stand pictures!
NYBowhunter replied to burmjohn's topic in General Hunting
Heres a tower blind that is my favorite as far as comfort wise and keeping warm. Its located on one of my food plots. I hardly ever hunt this stand, It was bought for the sole purpose for my dad to hunt out of and to keep him nice and warm.It has since been moved to the right of the picture about 50 yards away and was tucked under a pine tree. My dad took a buck last season during reg season and my friend took a doe during ML season from that tower blind. It has carpet on the floor, four fold up windows and a nice office swivel chair. All it needs now is a TV... -
Some pictures I retrieved this past weekend.

HuntingNY Baby - Alexis, born on 6/8/11
NYBowhunter replied to burmjohn's topic in General Chit Chat
Congrats John, she is adorable. Hope your caught up on sleep....lol.....Good name choice, same as my Mrs... Enjoy every minute.. -
Her mama happened to be very close, she ran down off the mountain toward us then walked away I guess in an attempt to take our attention off her baby. Was one of the coolest encounters I have had in my many years walking the woods. I'm sure its not common to be able to come feet away from a new born, sure was a rarety for me. I have come across fawns but not this small, it could have not been more then a day to a couple days old.

Heres a picture of a fawn that was laying on one of my trails. Picture taken with cell phone on 5/28, amazing how small they are.
