Dont live there, but go year round and also hunt in Deleware and Otsego counties. My camp is in Deleware county and my hunting land is less then a five minute drive away however is in another county, Otsego. So you can say that the deer near me are both Deleware and Otsego county residents...lol

Swiss hound and beagles running a rabbit
NYBowhunter replied to bellmorekennels's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Scenting must have been bad on that day looks like they had a lot of check work and were having hard time pushing that line. Your videos bring back some good memories, when kids get older and I have a minute to spare I would love to get a beagle again. -
Mixed Martial Arts aka MMA, "UFC" Who's a fan, Who trains?
NYBowhunter replied to ELMER J. FUDD's topic in General Chit Chat
I agree Joe the arts do instill people to become respectful and disciplined. Sorry to hear about your boy, sounds like one tuff kid to come out on top with leukemia. I'm sure those were some very trying times. Hope all is well. -

I studied Shotokan for a few years and won nationals first year out in my division, that was about 15 or more years ago. After all those years, it comes in handy sometimes when your confronted with morons around NYC. Way to many characters to deal with when you work in the city. -
Speaking of apple trees?
NYBowhunter replied to First-light's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
I use welded steel fencing as well and place large rocks at the base to prevent grass from growing, I also secure the fencing in place by using a stake. -
Thanks for the update, thats good to hear.

Apple Tree ID??????
NYBowhunter replied to NYBowhunter's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Thanks guys for the info. I'm going to do a search on crab apples. -
I have 11 apple trees that my dad raised up from seeds and I'm hoping to get them in the ground this spring, however I dont know the type. I remember the tree we got the seeds from and they are not crab apples because the fruit was much smaller. The ripe apple was the size of a large chestnut or large cherry (very tiny). Can anyone ID these apple trees for me?

The SxS are very nice ( I dont own one), however if you dont have one already I think a tractor atleast in my opinion is a much better investment. Those SxS are not cheap, a nice tractor can be had at a comparable cost to a SxS. The only thing you are limited with on a tractor is speed and its a single passenger, outside of that a tractor is much more versatile. Unless you already have a tractor, then its a no brainer. For me I'd rather have an ATV, they are much more manuverable in the woods and take up less space. My nieghbor has a SxS and they are not small, they would be tuff to get in some of the spots I go to.

Funny same thing happened to me, had 1000 pictures mostly of swaying weeds. Now I make sure the entire front of camera is cleared of tall grass.

To give you an idea:
-

Dragging a deer in knee deep snow would be insane, I'm sure that hurt... ...in no way did I mean to take away from your awsome thread, and you have 110% of my respect,Sir. ....and yes,it hurt bad....school girl bad..LOL. Your story is great and I wish my dad was here today to share that with....he would have been very proud of your efforts for sure! Any day,in the field or otherwise,is a great day with your dad. Thank you for sharing this story. NO problem at all buddy, I welcome any good hunting story wether it be a thread I started or not. I'm sorry to hear about your dad. Although my dad couldnt take that walk with us, he sure knows how to keep the camp warm and cooks till no tommorrow. I cherish every day afield with my dad, as much as I'm sure you did. Memories live on forever. Best of luck and if you see a thread of mine hijack away, that doesnt bother me in the least, I welcome it. -

What I should have done was posted like hunting for deer as most of the rabbit tracks were around the barns....should have put up a ladder stand against the barn.....would have had more luck that way.......All joking aside I did see lots of rabbit tracks and turd in this one honeyhole I have but I guess us and the rabbits were on different schedules....lol -

I usually do use snowshoes ....however my buddy didnt bring his and I didnt want him to suffer alone so we did with out them.....we kept on telling ourselves it was worth it because even though we didnt get anything it was good exercise....I'll make excuses all day long as long as I'm out there hunting..lol...However we are feeling the pain today....walking in knee deep snow for a few hours is no joke.......and there were times that I sunk down to my waist. Snowshoes next time without a doubt. -

Joe....Thats in Unit 4F, Deleware county....about 20 minutes east of Oneonta. With all this snow, doesnt look good for the deer this year........the snow has been around too long and drawn out. -
Well a buddy of mine, my dad and I tried to do a rabbit/grouse hunt for one last time and ended up doing this for the first three hours I got up there. In all we got a good exercise looking for game in knee deep snow, saw good sign but did not score. One thing is for sure, we ate real good. With dad in camp, you will never go hungry.

No I dont wish anyone harm....but I think you are putting yourself in harms way by placing yourself in this situation..I would just hope that you rethink what your doing... step back for a second and re-read your posts, you dont have any consideration for landowners....come on.......you want to talk facts ..the simple fact is its wrong to tresspass IRREGARDLESS of the properties size and if its unposted....bottom line its wrong and if you cant see that then I really feel for you. And saying your going to hide behind your brothers shield is childdish and shows your guilt.....Have a great day and keep telling yourself that what you are doing is right..
-
You know whats the sad part is that you actually believe what you are doing is right.....thats pretty sad....You have been pretty lucky so far......I hope you cross the wrong guy one day...... Go buy your own hunting land and pay taxes like every other hard working person. You just dont get it.....keep thinking in your little mind that what your doing is right....Best of luck and thanks for giving hunters a bad name. Sorry for being harsh, but I hate tresspassers..........you are a tresspasser right???
