  1. Awesome video! I have never tried shooting a chuck with my bow...guess that will be something to look forward to in the spring!
  2. Thanks guys. I think I will be researching the RCBS press/kit and try to see what I can find. For now I am mostly interested in reloading .30 caliber for my 30.06 and .22 caliber for my 22-250. These are the guns I shoot the most so I have a lot of brass for them already. I talked to my co-worker and he said he would give me a few dies and would be more than willing to come out and show me how to use everything once I get it. I have the Hornady hand book on reloading but if there any other good reads out there let me know.
  3. I have been wanting to reload my own ammo for quite some time now but have never got around to buying the equipment and supplies. I was wondering if there were any reloading presses/dies/kits out there that were better than others? I work with a guy who mainly uses RCBS equipment but also has some Lee stuff too. I don't want to spend a fortune but would be willing to spend a decent amount of money on a nice reloading set up. Also, where is the best place to store the powder when not in use? I have a garage that is heated by a woodstove and planned on reloading in there (opposite side of the room). Any suggestions or feedback would be helpful.
  4. Looks like you will have some nice bucks around next fall.
  5. Great buck and story! Congrats
  6. Nice to see them show up on camera this time of year isn't it? He will be nice one next year!
  7. Try the Under Armour line, the jackets can get pricey but if you shop around you can usually find one on sale. I have the Armour loft jacket that I wear with their base layer underneath. Plenty of warmth when stalking, wicks moisture well, and kept me dry.
  8. I think I am going to take the short trip to Bass Pro and check them out. Probably end up buying one in the near future if they look as nice as they sound.
  9. I own a handful of Leupold scopes and love them all for two main reasons, made in USA and they have a lifetime warranty. Watching a hunting show the other day I noticed they were using Vortex riflescopes and binoculars. I did some research on the internet and was impressed with what I found. They are made in USA and offer a transferable lifetime warranty. Same as what Leupold offers on their products. The main difference, price. The Vortex scopes are priced 10-60% lower than the Leupolds for similar models. Are they as good or better than Leupold? I am just looking for a little user feedback before I go out and purchase one to try myself.
  10. I hunt with a Remington 30-06 carbine up north that holds 5 shots. Only one time have I needed more than that. Not too mention, the tube feed semi-auto .22's. Who wants to reload that every 3-5 shots when plinking? Not this guy.
  11. Would look good next to the other mounts on my wall.
  12. Im glad to see this young 9 point made it through the season. He will be a really nice buck next year!
  13. I will have all 5 of my cameras out until the end of January. Then I will put them back up in April.
  14. Impressive! I am looking forward to finding some sheds myself.
  15. I use the FMJ for one reason, got a great deal on 500 rounds ($100). Buddy of mine bought a 22-250 and 500+ rounds with it. They didn't group well in his gun and I can cover my 3 shot group at 100 yards with a dime shooting them. Other than that, I have a 55 grain ballistic tip I will use when these are gone. I also have a 40 grain JHP I use for chucks...and man do they shred them!
  16. Great post, and very well said.
  17. I use a 22-250 with 40 grain FMJ just to kill them. If I am saving the pelt, .22 WMR with 40 grain solids.
  18. Nice video! Very well put together and all the right footage. Nicely done.
  19. I shoot the Winchester Supreme Partition Gold 385 gr. Have never had an issue finding a deer after shooting it. If you are going to a fully rifled barrel, I would recommend the sabotted slug. You can shoot the cheaper slugs meant for rifled barrels but lose a lot of accuracy beyond 50 yards. If you don't shoot any further than that and this isn't an issue with you, then go with the cheaper slugs for rifled barrels. I hunt a lot of bean/corn/alfalfa fields and want to know that my slug will perform as expected if a deer walks out at 150 yards.
  20. Nice buck! Opening day, let him walk. Last day, he may tempt me!
