  1. I am intersted, but live 4-5 hours away and wouldn't really have time to travel. If you can ship it through FFL, it may be sold...just don't say anything to my wife
  2. I took the Cesare o/u to my local gunsmith so he could check it out. He said definitely came from the Val Trompia area of Italy and was made in the 50's. He said custom guns like that sell new today for some big bucks (some close to $100,000) because most of the gun makers only produce a few a year. As far as mine goes, he said he wouldn't insure for any less than $2500. So I left it with him to run through it and get in perfect working order. Should have it back in 2 weeks when I come home from vacation. This is the 13th gun my grandfather has given me in the last few months...never thought I would say it but I'm running out of room!!
  3. Here is a link I found a month or so go...http://www.storeitcold.com/ There is a lot of really useful information on this website. The Coolbot is a great idea, and if you are serious about making a walk in cooler, this is the way to go! I have plans to build one at some point this fall/winter and will be ordering one when I'm ready. Check it out.
  4. I have the Muck boots for doing chores around the farm and love them. Never really thought about getting them for hunting though...
  5. Guys, I am in need of some new insulated rubber boots (17") for hunting season and need some help. I have had the standard Lacrosse burly, and the newer Lacrosse boots as well. I really enjoy the comfort of these boots but I am not thrilled with the performance. I am on my 4th pair in as many seasons. They seem to wear holes on the side of the boots where my foot bends and my last pair ripped out on the heel. I am thinking about the new Under Armour boots or possibly the new Irish Setter boots. They are similar in price and both have good reviews. I really hate to get away from the Lacrosse but, they just haven't been that durable. Anyone have any suggestions?
  6. The only Under Armour products of mine that smell are the heat gear and my shoes. All of my cold gear base layer stuff is scent free.
  7. FYI, those are not scrapes...those are rubs. Scrapes are made on the ground and usually involve an overhanging branch that is torn to bits.
  8. I got the simmons range finder last year and love it. I compared it in the store with the Nikon, Leupold, and Bushnell. It performed as well or better than all of them and was significantly lower in price. I used it all last year during hunting season and have used it this summer for getting yardage on chucks. I also found it useful during target practice with the bow and turned it into a "game." Walk to a spot away from your target, guess the yardage, and then use the rangefinder for an accurate reading. Kind of silly, but a good way to get your yardage down.
  9. I think they are some pretty nice bucks, wouldn't mind having them run around my property.
  10. Haven't heard anyone mention the 25-06 yet. Great gun, light recoil, tack driver, and affordable for new hunters. Check out the H&R single shot. Can probably get the gun topped with 3-9 Leupold for under $500 with tax. Just a thought...
  11. I've shot Rage broadheads for the last 3 years and had no issues. I got a sweet deal on the Shwacker broadheads earlier this year and I'm going to give them a try this fall. As far as lighted nocks, I shoot the nocturnal. They are a pain to turn off but were the best bang for my buck.
  12. I have the savage 212 and shoot the Winchester dual bond in 2 3/4". Love the gun and found it shoots those slugs best. Tried several kinds and these were the most consistent.
  13. Love your videos...oh yeah, nice bow too!
  14. Awesome deer! Even though he is number ~4 on your hit list, I'm sure it will be hard to let him walk the first time you see him.
  15. Pm me for more information if you are interested.
  16. NIce looking yearlings. I usually see some pretty nice yearlings in my area. This is one of them. I just wish he had brow tines.
  17. They are all 12 gauge and I believe they are all field grades.
  18. I have 5 or 6 LC Smith side by sides. I can probably part with a couple...
  19. I have the H&R ultra hunter in 25-06 that I bought about 12 years ago. Topped it off with the 4-12 VXII. Don't shoot it much, but enjoy smoking some chucks with it every summer. I shoot Hornady's 75 grain v-max and can cover the group with a dime at 100 yards (factory loads). Probably only put 40 rounds through it, but man is it sweet!
  20. Grouse, since you seem to be the most informed person on this topic, I also have an Abercrombie and Fitch 12 gauge o/u that my grandfather gave to me. I have also been looking for some info on this but never really find much. I never even knew they made guns...just thought they made teenagers clothing. I can upload some pics of that gun too. It is in much better condition than the Cesare. In any event, I will take both of them to my local gunsmith for his opinion on value so I can properly insure them. Thanks.
  21. Awesome pictures! Always look forward to seeing what you have.
