  1. I put the camera back out today. Looking forward to seeing the progress of this buck and the others in the area.
  2. I switched from Rage to the swhacker. Don't think I'll shoot anything but them now. I'm sure my wife would be happy to find out how much I spent on broad heads today! hahaha
  3. FYI: Right now on swhacker.com you can buy one pack of swhacker broadheads and get one free! Just wanted to share this info for those of us hunters that use mechanical broadheads.
  4. Since I have owned my .22 WMR (Savage model 93FV, Leupold VX-II 4-12) I have shot CCI maxi mag for general shooting and was happy. Last year I bought the Winchester supreme ammo in 30 and 34 grain and loved how they shot, so I was shooting them ever since. A couple of weeks ago I bought some of the new Hornady 30 grain v-max bullets for .22 WMR and man are they sweet! I got the opportunity to sight them and was shooting 5 shot groups at 25 yards around .3 -.4 inches. And was more impressed when I shot them at 100 and got a 1.4 inch 5 shot group. I have seen what these do to squirrels, and if you hunt them for meat, I would not recommend these bullets! I primarily got these for woodchucks and other varmints but haven't had the chance to kill any of them yet. If anyone is looking for some super accurate ammo I would give these a try.
  5. There are definitely 2 coyotes, at a minimum. There is one track that is about the size of a labs paw print in the snow and the other is half that size. I have only shot a couple coyotes. They were from up north and were about 20-30 lbs, not very big at all. I'm thinking the bigger one here is probably 50-60 lbs, judging by the track.
  6. Its about $35 for 4 lbs. Gander mountain has it on the shelf.
  7. Took just over a week, but finally got coyotes to start coming to this deer carcass.
  8. So I had the cameras out for a few weeks in some different spots than normal trying to see what kind of action I had and needless to say, 2 weeks, 20 photos, all does and fawns. So I found a deer carcass in the woods and decided I would put a camera on it to see what kinds of predators I could get. The pictures below will tell the rest of the story. the only coyote photo fox Some nice bucks
  9. That buck should be a stud next year!
  10. I have a pretty strict diet (thanks to my wife) and work out daily. I used to be the daily gym guy but after having kids it became a real hastle. So a couple of years ago I purchased a home gym and now I use that. I do wide grip pull ups, dips, push ups, and crunches. I rotate the pull ups/dips and do push ups and crunches everyday. My wife doesn't complain about my body so I must be doing something right
  11. Awesome pics! Is that 2nd one a fisher? I really like the pissed off fox pic.
  12. We have sheep and have 2 llamas in with them to keep the coyotes away. Never had a problem.
  13. Time to go get the cameras! Hopefully will have some more buck pics posted later.
  14. I like the deer engraving, never seen that before.
  15. I know there are new scopes that have BDC's built into them and maybe then your original crosshairs would be feet above the target? Still doesn't mean you should be shooting, unless you have actually shot those distances at the range. Speaking from experience, there aren't many ranges where you can shoot past 200 yards. Seems to me if you are holding feet above your target and shooting a shotgun, you shouldn't be squeezing the trigger. The outcome will most likely be a miss or wounded deer.
  16. Congrats on a great buck! Always cool to see hunting videos, and even better when its an "average joe".
  17. I want to primarily reload so I can get better groups. I love shooting my 22-250 and can shoot decent groups with factory loads (~.6 inches) at 100 yards but I know if I were to reload myself I could probably shoot .15-.2 inch groups or less. Nothing more impressive than putting 2 bullets through the same hole!
  18. My dad was a union steamfitter for 33 years and tried to convince me to get into the trade. I considered it right out of high school but then got interested in a girl who was going to college and she convinced me not too. Long story short, now I am a scientist. My dad still says I should consider it though.
