The temp was upper 40's. She came out feeding along the edge of an alfalfa field.

38 deg, very little to no wind, and not a cloud to be seen. Shot doe #2 last night. Hoping one of these bucks are out on their feet this morning.

It took me a while, but here's the 4 point I was talking about. I wasn't able to find the pictures of the buck at camp, but here's a pic of the skull.

Had 2 doe stroll through at 7:05. Sun is coming through the trees now and hopefully more deer will move.

I've got 3-4 or skulls in the shop from previous years. I think I am going to give this a try on them. Pretty cool, thanks for sharing!

What an odd day so far. Wind is all over, steady rain, then no rain, now a hail rain mix. Hardly any wind to speak of now. One small buck came through at 7:15.

It only took 8 weeks but I was finally able to connect. Sat in my ground blind tonight. She came out at 3:20 walking through the tall grass. Was at 10 yards at one point but I had no shot. She finally cleared and turned broadside at 36 yards. The Obsession bow and Rage broadhead did the rest. She ran about 40 yards and piled up from the double lung shot. Glad to finally get one on the ground! Let's hope it's all down hill from here. She dressed out at 105 lbs.

Good wind, a little too warm, but I'm hunting edge of a wetland. Hope something is gonna move!

I'd go diesel if it's in your budget. If it's not, you have to start somewhere and they're pretty inexpensive. A set of discs, a York take, and you're golden to start. Good luck.

Coyote down

This is why I'm not a betting man, 6:55 first shot. Surprising

It's almost time for the lead to fly! What's the over under for first shots? I'll take under 6:40, anyone else? Haha...come on flat heads!

Well set up the decoy on the field edge and positioned myself on the edge of the thicket. Started a rattle sequence and some grunts and about 5 minutes later I had 2 fawns show up 45 yards away looking for the fight. The one buck fawn was super interested in the decoy and I'm sure would love to brawl one day, but not today. They left and I followed up with another rattling sequence about 45 minutes later. This time I had a small 6 pt come out of the thicket about 30 yards away. He stood there looking around for the imposters before he angrily made a scrape. Wish I had the camera cause he was all business. He strutted around for about 1 minute before circling down wind of the decoy. He sized him up and started posturing like he was gonna attack the decoy and then decided he wouldn't. He presented me with multiple shots but he wasn't a buck I was looking to take. This all happened between 12-2 pm and was the only action I had. So the bow is hung up for the weekend but will be back out after I get something in the freezer. Good luck to everyone in the morning. Could hear 2 bucks fighting behind the house last night. Think I'll set up the decoy and try my luck at rattling.

Well just had my all day sit ended by 2 fawns being chased by a coyote...wtf. That's my luck this year. I whistled to get him to stop for a shot but he wasn't having it.
