  1. Cool with a steady SSW wind right now. Packed some provisions and headed out ready for an all day sit. Bucks were moving yesterday, hope they do the same today. Good luck everyone.
  2. Wind was awesome for my favorite stand this morning and is good for it again tonight. Two pesky fawns have been hanging out near my stand and I jump them nearly every time, getting annoying. They were the only deer I saw this morning. My buddy killed a nice buck this morning behind my house. 160 lb 8 point. He smelled awful and had a pretty swollen neck. Not sure on age, a good 2 or an avg 3, either way it was his biggest bow buck to date. Now I'm just hoping one shows up for me!
  3. 47 degrees, turkeys are clucking and gobbling, squirrels are being annoying already, now let's see some deer.
  4. Deerpassion, you must be sweating your nuggets off! I'll be hunting this afternoon. Can't wait, haven't been since Sunday.
  5. They don't charge as they are a "volunteer" service. But when I used them back in 2009 I gave the guy a $50 tip. He came from Naples to Weedsport, figured the least I could do was pay for his gas to get here and possibly a meal.
  6. I'm not sure I have one at the house, I know there are some at camp along with the rack.
  7. Nice video, too bad you don't have the buck kill shot. He's a great mature 4 pt. Reminds me of one I shot in the north country a few years ago. He was a 4 pt with a 13-14" spread and weighed 152 lbs. Never had him aged but we figured he was 3+
  8. If the deer don't show up, these squirrels better look out!
  9. Some pictures of the tags he used would definitely clear up the confusion. We've heard how people interpret his tag misuse, but he really isn't 100% clear in his description what tags he actually used. When I hear regular tag I think regular season, not bow. I guess no matter how we interpret it, he's still SOL.
  10. Not sure what happened, it was a pack of coyotes howling. Went on for a few minutes.
  11. I got down right after these guys got noisy. Figured there was no point in continuing to sit. Second time today in different spots. Turn up your volume. https://vimeo.com/143560888
  12. Rain has quit and the wind has calmed down. These deer better move now.
  13. When your camera arm doubles as a bow holder cause yours broke and fell when you hung your quiver and binocs on it...
  14. I'd say they're related, nice buck. Good luck sealing the deal on him
  15. Man that's a long walk...Hung this set yesterday for these winds so let's hope the deer cooperate. Im hoping the harvest thread gets flooded today. Good luck!
  16. At my hunting camp up north we drive certain portions of our woods. One year we had all of our members there for the weekend (a rareity) and decided to do a decent sized drive. We had 10 guys at the time so we devised what we thought was a fool proof plan. 4 drivers and 6 watchers. All of the possible escape routes covered. So we orchestrate the drive on our camp white board and decide who's sitting where and who's driving. All in all it takes about 2 hours from start to finish. Now mind you, when we drive deer we don't run through the woods making all kinds of noise we still hunt through the woods keeping the wind in favor of the watchers. So I'm walking through the woods waiting for a shot at any moment...the drive goes on...and on...and on until I get to my watcher. All of the drivers make it out and everyone heads back to camp. It was a nice day out so when everyone made it back to camp we fired up the grill and we were all stading around talking about how we saw so much deer sign but nobody saw a deer, not even a tail. Then all of a sudden 10-12 deer pop out of the woods about 150 yards diagonally across the road from our camp and run into our piece of woods we just pushed. Everyone was shocked. A couple guys grabbed guns and tried to cut them off but had no luck. Amazing how you can do a drive and see nothing and then poof, deer!
  17. IMO both the 770 and 783 are not that great, with the 770 probably being one of the worst guns I've ever handled. I've shot both in 30.06 and both shot fine. It is the material that they are constructed of and the loosening of tolerances in their actions and receivers that make them crap. Keep in mind these guns are not manufactured for guys who shoot long range and thousands or even hundreds of rounds a year. They are for young kids just starting out, people who don't have a lot of expendable income, or the person that just uses it for nothing more than hunting and only goes a few times. It's a great value if you consider its functionality. Will the action function and load a bullet? Yes. Is it accurate out to 100 yards? Sure. Will it kill a deer? Yup. Those are some of the only factors that matter to people.
  18. Awesome bucks Phade. Any of those would look nice on the wall.
  19. I've typically only hunted swamp edges at night. Usually find an entry/exit trail and set a stand up 20-30 yards from it and cut only a few small shooting lanes. I would usually set up between the swamp and a food source or transition area. I haven't hunted swamps in years but it was how I hunted when I lived up north. I've never killed a giant from a swamp, but know guys who have. Good luck, that multiflora rose is horrible!
  20. I'd say a 4 year old in the 130's for score, nice buck.
  21. Not too worried about the dates, it reset when I put in new batteries and I didn't have the remote in me to change it. The times are inverse military so it's accurate, just backwards
