Slug Gun Sighting Prefrence
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Five Seasons's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Honestly while the SST bullets group really well in my Muzzleloader I am not a fan of their performance once they get to the deer. I have two friends that use the Remington accutips and their terminal are very good. I have had great luck in my Remington 1187 with the Federal Trophy copper. (I even like the barnes expanders better but they don't make them anymore). 4" groups at 200 and a GREAT exit hole -
I don't really know the cost on those. I know it's done. Never did it with mine.

It's doing well when I do may part...lol. the black target were the first arrows at 10 yards (third arrow went through a shot out part near the bull) . The orange was the last arrows at 15. I am all set up in the back yard now so I am just going to shoot 15 arrows each and every night when I get home. man it is a whole lot different drawing this compared to my compound.

Grampy, The long limbs I purchased were 28# at 28"DL. Bow is strung with a 61" string and a brace height I think is at 8". Moog put in on the scale but becasue of the crank it was hard to get a good reading all the way drawn. I think it was at 38# and still needed to be cranked up another inch or so. He seemed to think it was going to be upwards of 40# at my draw length. I am wrestling with the idea of carrying it this year or not. I have some very tight cover that I like to bow hunt and if I can get proficient to 20 yards it could work well in there. I think it will be a game day decision..lol

let's go

Moog's obstacle course indoor range. And for the record he should have built the house with another foot on top of the foundation wall. It puts the joists a bit to close for comfort...lol

And old timer that we use to hunt with swore the key was to cook bear meat raised. No frying. Grilling is good. when I have done stews I heavily brown the meat chunks (bite size and not so you have to cut them to eat them) Then add them to the stew. It is my daughters favorite meat and she gets pissed when I give any away.

Prohibited Sale of Deer or Bear Meat It is unlawful to sell deer or bear meat. Other than meat, the parts (e.g., hides, skulls, claws, antlers, and taxidermy mounts or rugs) from legally taken and reported deer and bear may be sold. Bear gallbladders and bile shall not be possessed or sold unless a valid bear tag (original or copy) is attached

I will tell you that in the Field and Stream store in Henrietta there is one guy that I have used that knows his stuff. Ask for Rick. Use to own a shop and you won't be disappointed.

I've shot 2 bears in Ontario and both were delicious. I took one in the NZ as did my father, corn fed and both were great. I am heading up to Quebec in May with a group of 7 others and I hope they don't want their meat. So if any of you guys get them and don't want the meat just give me a holler. I'll meet you and take it for sure.

I wouldn't shoot a dump bear. Was Round one years ago to help skin it and the smell was the worst thing I have ever smelled.
-
Nope. Just illegal to seek the meat. Can even sell the.gall bladder if you want. Claws and teeth too
-
Wasn't really my first. They were my last of the night with the new recurve at 15 yards. I shot 30 arrows tonight.

Glad you finally came out of the shadows. Join in and good luck this season. What are you shooting?

I sharpen too, Get the clothes cleaned and in their containers. reinstall new batteries in my radio and GPS. Basically a once through for small inventory items like surgical gloves and such. In the field it is blind and treestand checks and trimming of lanes that may have grown in. Then a host of things to do at camp to get ready. fire wood is a big one.

Early Bow in the North?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Four Season Whitetail's's topic in Bow Hunting
But it doesn't really. It closes sooner than south and the over all season length is shorter. You would think it would be longer. -
Early Bow in the North?

That use to be a very nice little bonus to run up north on last years tag. -
I wasn't talking about decimals of an inch group compared between the two. We are talking about hunting weapons. My Encore holding a 1 and a half inch group at 150 yards and his Optima holding a 4"" group at 150 yards it absolutely just as accurate and effective in hunting situations. Both are a vital shot dead deer. just as good as each other. push that to 250 and I am not happy with the optima's performance. That is why I mentioned minute of deer for accuracy.

Let me recommend the Beaver Dam state forest or the Michigan Hills state forest or Grigg's Gulf state forest.

rug. Selling price - cost to make it = 200 to 400 depending. Google bear rug for sale.
