  1. Irresponsible? Why? a life long hunter could easily confirm that his equipment was all set and not much has changed since last season. If you are going to take 50 yard shots I can see more practice. but I haven't shot my compound at all yet. Tell you what. I'll go home tonight. take off my broad heads and set the target up at 30 yards and take a shot and post it. I guarantee it;s a bullseye. Maybe a hunter doesn't shoot over 20 yards? you have no idea or enough information to make a comment about irresponsibility. Irresponsibility is hunting outside your limitations.
  2. I get my anchor consistent and feel like my DL is pretty consistent but I feel like I am struggling with where my shootign eye is. When I shoot my compound it is Fletcher to corner of mouth, nose against string and my eye lines up with the peep. never an issue. I did really notice last night at 20 yards it make a difference if my sight line is one side of the string or the other. if that makes sense.
  3. Figured I would chronically my progress here rather than balling up the first shot thread with all of this. I walked out and made one shot at 15. then shot a few rounds at 15. Was going well so I backed up to 20. Was actually quite pleased with the 20 yard shots. I shot 31 arrows total and called it good. It is starting to feel a bit smoother in draw and release. It? I guess I meant me...lol. This sideways pic stuff sucks...lol
  4. I know guys that use old plastic grocery bags too.
  5. Whatever you do, don't google cattle bot flies. (the same species can get into deer)
  6. You have a very very generous camp.
  7. "complex" wouldn't be the word we use at camp...lol
  8. Anything you want to add works great. When I have folks that like spicier food I toss in hot peppers. Is very good with rabbit as well. I have also added some heavy cream to it but that was before my Cholesterol went through the roof...lol. (pick out all the bones when gettign people new to eating game to try it. That turns them off).
  9. The problem we have with deer or especially mature deer is we usually never know the actions we take that have them avoid us in a given situation becasue we don't see their reaction. On on property I hunt it is pretty small and three stands can see to each other but it is thick. I have seen mature deer react to friends in the other stand and they didn't even know the deer were near them.
  10. crockpot squirrel with Italian style stewed tomatoed over rice...mmmmmmmmmmmm
  11. During bow season when I am trying to get in an evening hunt and the days are gettign shorter I ride mine about half way in and actually use it as a deterrent for deer to enter the big field. They don't like seeing it parked in the open field and by taking it half way it extends my ability to get that half hour hunt in.
  12. I use this one. Nice thing is it doubles as a cooling surface if you tip it back and want a warm lunch
  13. That's cool. I've dealt with fall protection at work for decades. Personally I can't see using something that isn't for it's designed purpose when the risk is so high. I can use a hammer to put a screw too. Doesn't make it ideal. OSHA would take a dim view of that in our business. I wear a standard harness. Never had it in my way on lock ins. Climbers or ladder stand.
  14. To me the possibility of inversion is too great with these. I don't believe they were also designed to mitigate suspension trauma. Personally i would not go this route.
