Ok so pro rate the number of incidents and shootings to project the casuality count for 100% participation. What would that number be?
-
It is no longer a legal implement in NY for any game in any season.

In the first set of Pics, the bigger buck in the first second and third pic is not the buck on the left in the fourth pic. I was zoomed in and didn't see the one in the fourth pic until the first one walked off and I started to zoom back out. They looked darn near like twins. The larger one inthe fourth pic is the one fromt he second post. I think...LOL. there were deer everywhere.

No Ag down at camp...lol. WIsh there was. I was hoping that cut rye field was going to be planted in Beans this year after the harvest but I thinkk they missed the window for that by now. Looks like it might just be rye again so that will make for very good late season once the corn is gone and the snow starts.

Herb's is a sporting goods store

This little guy was standing about 75 yards away when we popped through the hedge row. We stopped and turned off the wheeler. He was looking right at us. went back to eating and then decided he needed a closer look at us and walked up to within about 20 feet. He continued eating and then just wantered off. I think this is his first rack and a very nice one at that. Great potential. If you notice he has some sort of small growth ont he top of his right eye. The bugs were driving this little guy nuts. He was more worried about them than us

On the first round the deer are going to be tranquilized and tagged. That is probably how they will track it for the upcoing booster shots. After the first year they will be using a dart gun. Seems like a waste of money to me.

Well it is what you have to look forward to in the not so distant future...lol

Mike, I don't even think the use of lethal methods was entertained. But there is NO question it could be done safely. I am not talking about an open season but skilled archers, qualified. in stands in prescribed locations and over bait? Half that population could be taken out before the season even opens up. This is just a waste of money and their goals and projections don't even correct the problem. a 40% reduction in 5 years still leaves the population at almost 2 times the level the studies cite as the limit before destruction of habitat occurs. ANd this doesn't account for migration in or the birth rate of the ones not vaccinated.
-
I don't see how they can have an immediate impact with this approach. The article states they are already like 3 times the concentration to notice damage and the birth control option provides no avenue for reduction other than vehicle and natural death rates. And that doesn't even factor in the migration of deer into this area. It is a wet dream but you can tell from the comments about the article they type of folks that support this.

Yeah...chucks. although if the damn next door neighbor doesn't get rid of at least his new roosters I may be shooting chicks. Damn things are so young they don't even wieght intil sunrise to start their crap....RIGHT OUT SIDE MY WINDOW!! At my age being a Perv takes too much energy. I agree with Pygmy. I would rather have a nap or go hunting...lol.

Currently I have the ML barrel, 223 and the pistol barrel in 308. Next up is a 308 rifle barrel and a .22 or .17 pistol barrel. You are welcome to take any of them for a spin over at Roch Brooks if you want. I really wanted a 243 barrel for it but I already have to 308 set up for reloading so just doesn't make sense. I have shot the savage and I have heard good reports on the Ruger as well. Doc just bought a new rifle last year and I think he got he Ruger. I don't know that I have seen a report on it from him. Are you considering used?
-
Oh don't give me that...lol. Might want to consider looking for one new or used. Not that much more than the ones you are talking about and then you are in a different caliber or ML with just a barrel change. If you really want to step up your game you can use it as a pistol
-
do you currently have an Encore? Brand new barrel for those can be had for $250.
-
Probably going to want some better glass down the road but this will get it done for any deer hunting in NY. THe 308 is a proven round and will serve you well. You can go light and shoot yotes and chicks or use it all the way up for Moose. Lat year one of my best friends took a Moose at 200 yards with a 308 with 180 grain bullets. I have tried thesavage with an accu-trigger. tool a while for me to get use to the feel but that gun shot MOA with factory rounds.

I didn't know that. I guess I should have since their reloading data all goes through the same portal page. -
Remington 870 12 gauge question
Culvercreek hunt club replied to jfarrell90's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Buy a box of the Breneke KO's and try them. I have seen them shoot well and not very well. depends on the gun. But at $6-$7 for a box of 5 it is worth a try. They will perform well at the ranges you stated if they hold a group well. WOrth a shot before you jump up to the more expensive sabots. When I carry my shotgun this is what I use. They shoot very well for me in my 11-87 but hey ar $16-$18 a box of 5 http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Federal-Premium-Vital-Shok-Barnes-Expander-Sabot-Slug-12ga-3in-3/4oz-Ammo&i=443286
