Gun Powder
Culvercreek hunt club replied to fasteddie's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
I load the IMR 4007SSC for the 270 and 30-06. (Super Short Cut) Meters very well and flows easily throguh the powder tickler. I would be curious to see the difference in size between one manufacturers SC and anothers SSC. -

Pear Consumption
Culvercreek hunt club replied to phade's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
How badly do you want to know...lol. Here is a link of many varieties here in NY and high res pictures. pick a pear and compare. At least you will know the variety and will tell you when they will ripen. My Uncle had one that used to hold the fruit until the first heavy frost but a freind has one that is ripe in Late August into September. I think they are wider ranging by variety in ripening time than apples are http://www.ars-grin.gov/cor/pony.html -

Components are not included in the UnSAFE ACT. SO far they are free and clear. Doc. The last time I was up to Beikerks about 3 weeks ago the bullet shelves looked pretty full. THey had the powder I wanted and there were primers, just not the ones I wanted...lol. -

There isn't anything in the UNSAFE Act barring private purchase of ammo out of state. -

Remington 870 12 gauge question
Culvercreek hunt club replied to jfarrell90's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Best bet is to try a few different types to see which shoots best in your gun. Draw back to that is the sticker shock from the price of the sabots. They aren't cheap!!! What ever you end up siting in with is what you should hunt with. Different brands and different weight slugs will not shoot to the same point of impact. Mind if I ask what you normal hunting shot will be where you hunt? -
Bottom Plow for ATV?

http://rochester.craigslist.org/grd/3946577246.html Spring Harrow and you can put more agressive "plow tips" on them if the mounting holes have been maintained. Or you can drill new holes -
Bottom Plow for ATV?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Geno C's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Geno, Be careful with a heavy or aggressive plow behind the Polaris. Yours has plenty of engine but it has a belt driven primary and even when in low you will be shortening the life of that belt. This is one of the draw baks of our Polaris's for being to lazy to shift...lol FIrst light is probably using the best option (besides a tiller) becasue you can adjust the depth with that handle and make multiple passed. -
Same process for me as well with them

Make sure you use the O rings. I have gone through bone and never lost a blade using the Thunderheads. For me they flew best in line with the vanes but everyones set up is different.

Live weight vs Hanging "gutted" weight
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Hunting4u's topic in Deer Hunting
I think the question was referring to the meat quantity of the chart. Does that processed weight include bone in (Like chops and bone in steaks) or is it weight deboned process weight. -
The best beavers are the ones on someone elses property. If that woods to the north is yours they will take down trees for the tops. What kind of trees are to the north of the pond? SSS-- if you had a group of juviniles move in and they set up home in a area that didn't end up supporting then due to limited food supply they will move on their own.

SHot them for years and never had one issue. I went to the G5 Montec CS becasue I wanted to be able to resharpen and not worry if I had replacement baldes with me. Other than that reason I would still be using them.

Two-day hunt gear suggestions
Culvercreek hunt club replied to CuseHunter's topic in General Hunting
If you are going alone(Which I really don't recommend) I have used. a hammock tent. Light (at 3 to 4 pounds), water and bug proof. invest in a good sleeping bag and pack. If you are goingf when there can be very cold temps or snow I wouldn't suggest sleeping in a hammock though. -
