Talk About Butt Covering
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Early's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
They dont pay FICA if they are self employed. if the church owns the land (and this varies by group) they pay no property tax. if the property is in the individuals name they pay. -
"Hi, I am Bob and I would like to shoot a big antlered buck every year"...lol. I guess admitting it is half the battle

Well teh Amish are more specific to what I was speaking. THey seem to be buying every parcel of land of for sale in some southern tier areas -
Joe, I can understand how a littel pain in 7 8 and 9 regions could yeild big dividends for more mature bucks. In most of those areas they have at least decent doe permit allocations. I do hear people not getting a tag in some areas. We can't (I won't) support a program that askes hunters to go afield with almost no possibility to take a deer. Even though the seasons have increased in length the average hunter still only has ?? days to hunt. The economy what it is time off if tough. SZ gun season is 4 weekends. Throw in Thanksgiving and you have 9 days. If you are lucky to have that Friday off. 10 days. Most of NZ is a whole other story with most of it having NO possibility for doe tags.

And what is his concern?...that the police took his rifle and he can't protect himself. Someone should give him a new one. -
Where is that proposal, Joe?

Virgil,,,What more can you do but offer them the services for free. they can get the free birth control....and when not used..free abortions...and when not used, free healthcare and food and lodging and utilities and on and on. So how do you stop it so the rest of us are not paying for their choices? Do we cut off benifits? no that is considered cold hearted. Do we make them go get an education so they can get a job. No that takes the free choice away. Do we manadate sterilization ...no that is just wrong. The problem exists and throwing more money and services at it hasn't worked. It has only gotten worse. I just don't know anymore.

Bingo!! I will say one thing though. I think they do need to look at the how assets are classified and owned. Their are churches that own everything. the members own nothing. th ehomes the members live in are church owned. the fields. the personal property is all church owned. that make all than non taxable. What NY described was teh intention of the tax emempt status but I believe that is being abused....real shocker ...huh? -
Shotgun Rifled Barrel or not?

Well I do have to ask for the contribution...lol. She doesn't notice the little expenses. -
Scot, if you have that ability physically and financially that is great. There are many that can't bow hunt. don't ML hunt and may not have the disposable income to travel to get to a doe permit area. we just ignore them and their hunting? I am not advocatiing changing things to make it easier on anyone....but we shouldnt be changing and making it harder on hunters to participate.

OK. but if I am in my tree stand bow hunting and I can take a doe that dresses out at 125 or the 125 dressed out 7 point in teh picture above....they both come wandering in at the same time. I am shooting the doe. My choice but there isn't a benefit to do it the other way. There is a benefit to letting the buck get bigger if nothing other than the amount of meat it has on it and the larger horns. There may also be a benefit in harvesting the number of does the DEC thinks they need to take out of the herd.....(if you can believe them on the 'need')I know it is my choice and even the guys in AR areas would have to make that choice since that is a legal AR buck. The doe or the small 7? What would you do?
-
I am all for letting them grow up past 1.5 years, but I won't support a regulation to mandate it. If we make the effort through education that is one thing but not a regulation. The state is too varied in deer poplation and habitat to do that and provide good opportunities to take a deer. Too many areas with few or no doe tags. Both of these deer were taken the same day on the same NON AR property although they both would have been legal in AR areas. The samller one is a 7 point. The hind hooves are hanging at the same height. I would be lying if I said it wasn't easier to decide to let smaller bucks go since I know bucks like the bigger one are around the area I can hunt. It does. But I have seen improvements in local buck quality and size by letting them go.

Shotgun Rifled Barrel or not?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Rev Ev's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
I like them tighter too...that is why I use my ML while in shotgun areas. 1" is nice but not required. for a clean and quick kill.
