Antler Restrictions - What are your thoughts?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to TheHunter's topic in Deer Hunting
Same here Center. I have bben luck the last 5 or 6 years and it never came down to that. I have lucked out and had the opportunity at the does. I would love to say I would pass a YB with 100% certainty but until I get in that position on the last day....you just never know . I do like to know I and others have that choice though.- 1885 replies

Antler Restrictions - What are your thoughts?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to TheHunter's topic in Deer Hunting
out of the same survey that keeps getting press here Hunters in all parts of the state passed-up shots in a substantial proportion of encounters with both YBs (>75% of opportunities) and OBs (>40% of opportunities). Although these rates of passing-up shots at bucks may seem high, they apparently reflect well hunters’ harvest decisions during the season. So 3 out of every four encounters with young bucks are passed on by hunters throughout the state. sounds like a majority are passing on YB's already. At least until the last day/weekend rolls around and they dump one. How many of these same guys are in the numbers that support the progeam in that percent?- 1885 replies

Keep it where you hunt then. The areas I hunt in 5,6,7,8 don't need them. There are mature bucks here and those not afraid of a little hard hunting can find and harvest them...if that is what you are aiming for. Those satisfied with any buck and having the choice,,,,,,plenty of bucks to go around. I wonder how many hunters have abandoned the AR areas for other areaas of the state to have the ability to harvest their choice?- 1885 replies

Lower the legal shooting distance for bow????
Culvercreek hunt club replied to ELMER J. FUDD's topic in Bow Hunting
The law doesn't see it that way Doc. I have a section of the land I hunt on that I can't go near because the neighbor has a pole barn up there and it is about 100 yards from a very nice section of brush. He stores equipment in it and I almost never see him around it. BUT I have to sit there in my tree stand and watch them wander in and out of the brush all season...lol. I can really see both sides on this one and no matter which way it goes it really won't effect my hunting. -
We're going to be "gifted" with a health care plan we are forced to purchase and fined if we don't, which purportedly covers at least ten million more people, without adding a single new doctor, but provides for 16,000 new IRS agents, written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it, passed by a Congress that didn't read it but exempted themselves from it, and signed by a President who smokes, with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay his taxes, for which we'll be taxed for four years before any"benefits" take effect, by a government which has already bankrupted Social Security and Medicare, all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese, and financed by a country that's broke!!!!! What the hell could possibly go wrong?

Antler Restrictions - What are your thoughts?

I live in 8h. I hunt 8m. 8h. 5h. 6s and 7r. At home I am hunting over and around ag fields. In 8m it is plots and stalking. In 5h it is big woods hunting. At my camp in 7r we have 2 small plots of clover left. About an acre. They are around the cabin and we don't hunt over them....haven't yet anyway. At camp we butt a large chunk of state land so I sepnd about half my time over there. I grew up hunting only state land but now most of what I hunt is private. I bow.shotgun. rifle and ML hunt.- 1885 replies

What's Everyone Doing for the 4th of JULY
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Dave's topic in General Chit Chat
That one in Rochester is something I may be checking out. BBQ.....mmmmmm -
You are guilty of just what you accuse him of. You present a site awarded a Pulitzer a credible, unbiased source. I read the article. The conclusions are very biased. If their intention was pure journalism and reportig the facts, they would have concluded (based on the datea they used) that there was no basis for the NRA claims.....AND there was no correlation between decreasing or removing concealed cary laws and an increase in violence. Their side ste around that conclusion demonstrates the bias of the article.. As far as the selection for a Pulitzer being a yard stick for measuring the valididty of the material presented....I find that as far stretch to say the least. Have you ever looked at the make up of the selection committe or the board that determins the awards. The vast majority are Professors for very liberal leaning Universities and Execuatives or editors from main stream news media. There are token conservatives in the mix but in no numbers that would allow any influence in the voting. Sounds unbiased and credible to me...lol

Bring your pole....the West Canada is probably the most underrated and best kept secret for trout waters in NY. I grew up right near there and the fishing has always been great. Take the kiddies digging Herkimer Diamonds too....they will get a kick out of that

I'm not, pay attention there skipper and troll some other thread. Nice to see some one kicked over a rock to let you crawl out...or did they finally get the ankle bracelet attached for you so you could go home. Back again spewing the same ole' story. You are right....everyone else is wrong......no one hunts the way superman "thehunter" does.....we get it.

Let's take a realistic look at this though. A one buck tag....great ( I am for that as well). If they do away with the guaranteed doe tags for Bow and ML and issue just doe tags....the number issued should go up based on the reduced guaranteed numbers. Now that looks great on paper but how many guys out there will be having their non hunting significant other and kids getting their license and applying for doe tags to sign over.....and no doubt using their buck tags as well.

Virgil. So if we assume the conclusions are correct and there is no tie between carry laws and crime rates, wouldn't it make sense to allow it.....at least not try to overturn the Constitution to restrict it? And as far as the credibility of groups such as the highly regarded Pulitzer.......they must be right on the mark....Nobel awards to must be also...after all they think an aweful lot of BO

property I hunt across from my house (where I took my buck last year) farmer was in there last night and took 2 great does. The neighbor hood witch called the sherrif on him....said he was poaching deer...lol. She has no clue at all. The Sherrif could not get her to understand the whole concept of nuisance tags. She kept saying "but they aren't a nuisance"
