almost all school budgets go thru?? Big Rant!
Culvercreek hunt club replied to sits in trees's topic in General Chit Chat
As long as we at talking layoffs and reductions in teachers.......how "great" is a system where the best and the brightest could be tossed to the curb because they don't have as many years in as some others. The seriority thing blows to put it bluntly. And I do think many of them are over paid for what they provide. Let's take a look at my sister in law. a Librarian.....in Albany area....over 70 k with those wonderful bennies.....and let's not forget.....that is a salary that they can take over 12 months or just the months they work. So the school year runs from September through June. 10 months. now start taking off the breaks. We have winter recess and Spring break just to name two.then throw in the holidays from Christmas to wounded woodchuck day. Could probably chisel that down to about 9 months. If you figure that many of them take summer jobs too they make a pretty good annual sallary. Now. I think the position is almost unmatched in terms of importance but in the current system we do not get the return on our investment....and that is what pissed me off. I don't mind paying for anything if the benefit is there. -

Well let me put it to you this way. If I was really riding with a gun on it I would use the hard scabbard. Like out west and having to head miles and miles in at a good clip. Around here mine has never gotten even bumped. If I had to head through the woods and not over a trail or field I would sling it over my shoulder and neck anyway. I chose the open rack on mine so I could put my Bow or Gun in it to travel. I have seen that loader before and it is pretty cool I haven't needed one as long as I can find a tree near me because I figured out a way to do it using a ratchet strap and my winch. -
GM. I would bet that the term carcas can no longer be used once you take it off the bone. I agree that if you make it in one trip you are fine but if you split it up I think you are in for problems if you find a DEC officer in a bad mood.

Open handle bar mount gun rack....and if you get the ones with the little rubber fingers , many are large enough to drop a compound (or crossbow) right in. On my list is an extended cargo carrier. Makes getting gear in and game out so much easier. This is the one I am thinking about http://shop.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/atv-rear-drop-basket-from-guide-gear-.aspx?a=686906 -

Culvercreek hunt club replied to First-light's topic in ATV's , UTV's, Dirtbikes & Snowmobiles
if you have one of those stores near you I have had them match the online pricing if they have them in stock. That width should track pretty close tot he 4 wheelers wheel tracks too. -

chesk this out on sale at Harbor Freight right now. Just ad a deck and sides and you have one that will easily pull behind a wheeler or the truck. http://www.harborfreight.com/1090-lb-capacity-40-1-2-half-inch-x-48-inch-mini-utility-trailer-with-12-inch-four-lug-wheels-and-tires-90153.html -

my lawn tractor cart doesn't pull behind my wheeler very well if the dirt is uneven at all. I think it needs a wider stance. Burt...keep an eye out on Craig's list...there are trailers there all the time. and many could be modified to just what you need pretty cheaply -

Joe, you talk pretty tough with out her watching....give me her number I have a couple posts I want her to read -
A group of 15-year old guys discussed where they should meet for dinner. It was agreed they should meet at the Dairy Queen next to the Ocean View restaurant because they only had $6.00 between them and Jannie Johnson, that cute girl in Social Studies, lives on that street and they might see her and they can ride their bikes there. Ten years later, the group of 25-year-old guys discussed where they should meet for dinner. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the beer was cheap, they had free snacks, the band was good, there was no cover and there were lots of cute girls. Ten years later, at 35 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for dinner. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the booze was good, it was right near the gym and if they went late enough, there wouldn't be too many whiny little kids. Ten years later, at 45 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for dinner. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the martinis were big, and the waitresses wore tight pants. Ten years later, at 55 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for dinner. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the prices were reasonable, the wine list was good and fish is good for your cholesterol. Ten years later, at 65 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for dinner. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the lighting was good and they have an early bird special. Ten years later, at 75 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for dinner. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the food was not too spicy, and the restaurant was handicapped accessible. Ten years later, at 85 years of age, the group once again discussed where they should meet for dinner. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because they had never been there before. I am still in the looking at tight pants and drinking Martinis group

Shorten the NY Gun Season?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Helderberg Hunter's topic in Deer Hunting
I have hunted all 3 of those areas. I was talking more or what is truely Daks. I was kind of referencing your comment as to up North not being any more challenging physically. I guess it really doesn't have as much to do with North or south as it does to the terrain. The flat lands around Ontario is nothing compared tot he hils of Madison....just like Madison is nothing compared to the Catskills. Same can be said for Sacketts to Harrison and then on to the true Daks. -

LOL....hit it on the head....always catch the bike first. I really hate to get rid of it but I just can't seem to find the time for it anymore. Plus it will give me a few bucks for toys and I promised my daughter a car if she stayed on high honor role until she could drive. The little chit is maintaining a 98.6 average and no signs of going down. Sooooooo It's gonna cost me some cash...lol -

Milage? Really depends on how you are driving it. I have done as good 42 on Highway trips but you can easily drop to below 30 if you are heavy in the throttle around town. I told him he was a sissy. (used a different word actually) . Good call for him though. You have to be confortable on the bike you ride. He is a tall guy but very thin and that thing is pushing 1,000 pounds loaded with fuel and full bags. Never had to pick it up but always wondered if I could have. -

OK....I stored this for the past winter because a buddy wanted it. He cam out and test drove it and got scared. Too big and too much engine for him to feel comfortable. So. I am putting it out for sale again. If you guys know of anyone that is interested let me know. They will not be disappointed in this bike. -

Take a peak at a map of the Daks. There are tons of areas that fit the description you seek -
might be a little anal with the new ammo out there But I swab the barrel after each shot if I am shooting groups. Not a full clean just a swab to duplicate what my first shot would be like in the woods. WNY is right on though......take your time and may very well take multiple trips if you really want to see what the gun is capable of...cool down has a big effect

Shorten the NY Gun Season?
Culvercreek hunt club replied to Helderberg Hunter's topic in Deer Hunting
If you are hunting where you live as posted in your profile it really isn't all that different than the southern teir......slide you homestead about 50-70 miles east and I bet you would have a different take on it. Deer density is lower than where you are and I guarantee the terain is more physically demanding. I personally like it as it is up north because a lot of the pressure does drop off by the time the rut does start to warm up where I hunt. -
they spec it as a 22 but in reality with the break it is a 20
-
You hit it right on the head......I like to also verify the choice at different distances too

anise....smells like black licorice....short "a" sound like action....not a long "a" like ANUS...lol I have seen guys use vanilla extract and honey burns too.

Have you heard on e of those go off? That muzzle break seems like it would make it louder than hell
