  1. Thouroughly oil....and wipe off...Remingtons...rifles and especially shotguns do not perform well in cold weather if they are heavily oiled
  2. Doe, crabgrass is a tough one. It can be treated with a pre-emergant chemical that basically makes a barrier....but as soon as it is disturbed...all bets are off. I would wait until it comes up......roundup the area...wait the prescribed time and reseed. I did the same in my lawn....piece. at a time. I shouldn't have said round up....I actually have better luck with the spectacide products. Bluegrass is nice but I really like the creeping rescues.....shade tolerent and the roots travel well to fill in. Google them and they have some nice deep green varieties. I will be doing some more thissummer myself where my Leach lines settled
  3. ditto Steve....and the sooner the better getting it in to them. If you fudge around and wait until August or September to send it in the wait times goes up with the coming season.
  4. I would say yes if it has gauge wheels so you are only lightly raking it. then a light roll. Good soil contact is important and it keeps the birds from eating all your hard earned money...lol. THe only thing any type of mulch does is maintain the moisture in the soil and retard the evporation out of it. You can easily skip any straw mulch if you want but you have to watch the watering even closer then. How big of a lawn are you putting in?
  5. If you are taking it out in one trip with multiple people one tag would be good...but as soon as the pieces are seperated you would need multiple tags (copies)....must have to get one of those pocket Xerox machines
  6. I think as a society we have an obligation to verify that a person is mentally stable (best as we can tell). I don't think we take a hard enough line with people that use guns for violence. What I find odd though....is the groups that seem to be backing the restrictions on gun ownership arre the same group that tend to support leanent (sp) sentencing and alternative sentencing. I really think a harder line needs to be drawn for offenders. I am sitting here waiting for my paperwork to clear the gauntlet of approval. I think it is unreasonable that it could take 9 months to a year. As much as I really believe in the Constitution and 2nd ammendment....I do have to question states like Maine where only a drivers license is required. I just went through an FBI background check and it took a month to get me into a secure installation......but my permit take 9 months...lol. The one comment you made I just have a hard time seeing work.......is us being able to convince those in favor of tighter restrictions that we are not a threat. The avenues I see them take makes me think they really hate guns.....we could all be church going.....charity contributing....models of a citizen and they don't want them in our hands.....I just can't figure out the motivation. It doesn't make logical sense to me......
  7. Steve, What do you consider as a "resonable" application of the 2nd Amendment? What woudl be a good middle ground in your eyes?
  8. Tough call, Burt. I understand he is in pain but imagine all the measure that are implemented now. If they were put into place before the attakcs....imagine the outcry. Hell the people are going nuts over the body scanners now. Patriot act?...try to get that through before. I think it takes a tragedy to get people motivated sometimes...as sad as that sounds....we are all just fat and happy here. (but a pretty big force when someone pokes the bear) Take India. We said there was going to be hell to pay for anyone harboring terrorists.....think we are going to do squat? I don't. We will continue aid and propping up there govt. I have to admit there is a cold callosed part of me that wishes as soon as our troops cleared Pakistan...the White House flipped that little toggle switch and sent a nice uranium enriched package over there. Followed by a headline in every world paper..."SEE....WE TOLD YOU...DON'T F WITH US"
  9. I dont find it very appropriate to have named UBL after an Indian leader either. Would I go out and make a big deal of it? No, but I do find it odd. Yes, I am part Indian (Native American). Strange how some are getting their panties all bunched up. The first report I heard was that the seal said "Geronimo- E-KIA". I really though the mission was named that. E= Enemy....KIA=Killed in action. I kind of took it an a fitting name in a nobel warrior sense for the mission to be named that....or the act of taking him out. (should not have code named him that)
  10. Unarmed?...perfect. went out like the coward he was....no gun in his hands and cowering behind a woman. ...I personally wish they had an AED devise there....hit him with the paddles and double tap him again. unarmed.......probably like just about everyone that dies on 911. This PC crap has gone way too far. We will never defeat these people unless you inflict more fear in them than they can dish out. I don't have a problem stooping to their level...even lower if required. Hell give me the pliars and I will show you how to get info out of the trash housed at Gitmo. They are uncivilized....you can't beat them back to the stone age...they are already there. Only way to defeat them is kill them. And the American public does not have the stomach for it. Happened in Vietnam and ever since. It is a dam good thing this mentality did not exist in the 40's or Germany would never had been defeated.
  11. should work fine. Perrenial rye....fescie and KY bluegrass...clover is a bonus for the whitetail nibblers you want to take off your deck
  12. don't use annual rye unless you are just looking for a temporary cover. If you can swing it I don't think you will be disappointed in a creeping fescue.
  13. Might well wait for that wet season that happens right in the middle of August
  14. No...just bored out of my ever lovin mind!!!
  15. Spread....lightly rolled in....and once wet.....keep wet. The seed you choose will give you the spreading rates and setting for spreaders.....I have done them with an inexpensive hand spreader but you might want to buy a walkbehind if you are smoothed up
  16. $.05 to $.18 per square foot depending on the mix and fertilizer and any prep needed.
  17. They do have some good hybrids of Blue grass out there but they usually aren't very tolerant of shade...the ones that are can be a bit pricey. fine fescue would be your best bet if there is less than 4 hours of direct sun on the lawn and the soil is poor. (stay away from tall fescue) I would say hit a feed and grain supply....like an agway
  18. Fine fescues and I would mix in about 10% annual rye (which will give you a quick start and help cut down on erosion). you are probably looking at around 3 pounds per 1,000 sf (about 130-140 pounds per acre)
  19. Hope it works out for you Eddie. I am not sure what the directions call for but ....chck valve on the water supply line and put one in the discharge line so you aren't repumping water.
  20. Has anyone heard an official comment out of Packistan yet?
  21. I wasn't refering to any type of coverup or any consipacy theories. I was speaking more towards closure for the families. Similiar to a family having a desire to witness an execution of someone that murdered their loved ones.
  22. If I had lost family on 911 I would want to see him with my own eyes. head shot or not
  23. Now that made me laugh...no pun intended I am sure...lol I would have liked to see him brought back here. muslim tradidtion or not.
  24. I believe that a Muslim has to be buried within 72 hours and I heard the same report that they didn't want a shrine made to him so that was behind the burial at sea. He was camped out in the largest, most lavish complex in the area of Pakistan and their Govt didn't know he was there. I don't by that one. I am glad he is gone but there will always be someone to take his place.
