  1. I would think because they are vermin...lol. More introduced species. The ones he listed I believe are unregulated and may be taken in any number at any time. I think there was a thread that discussed this in the frame work of squirrels during bow and I dont remember if it got resolved 100%. I think it was if it is capable of the speed to be legally used to take game it was a firearm by definition and couldn't be carried in conjunction with a bow. if you are gun hunting I wouldn't think there would be an issue.....no different than carrying a .22 and your shotgun. Do they make reasonable air pistols that make the speed required?
  2. I think the panel I got there had crimped eyes for connection to the posts on the back of the controller. Can't you just splice the length in the middle and utilize the connectors that are there?
  3. Not for nothing but the trigger speed on that has to be pretty good to catch in flight. I was thinking maybe the owl did grab something on the ground and was taking off....might explain how it got it in flight
  4. I am with Wooly. I have put 6 in.......my house included. They work great in my experience. In my house it was a little tricky because the drain tiles under the slab were so low coming into the crock there was little margin for error to install the backups float. I didn't want the tiles to hold water before the thing kicked on. 3/4" line is mandatory to get enough flow
  5. Use the lead and splice in the wire to length. I am in New Orleans on Bourbon St. When I get back I will send you the link. It is an old fan off a furnace and used to generate dc. Not much water needed and works 24 /7. I might try it
  6. I agree with Dinsdales approach. A breake will not effect the performance of the gun. Porting, while reducing recoil effectively shortens your barrel, which will slow the bullet. Probably not a noticable difference in our NY hunting distances though.
  7. I wonder. How many handgun violations have been logged where they weren't in conjunction with a crime And my point of view is follow the law and work to change it if you don't like it. Breaking a bad law is not justified
  8. I thought I remember reading it was a target shooting accident. The brother fingered his releas during the draw and hit this brother. They were saying that is why it only penetrated that deep because not at full energy. Stupid accident however it happened.
  9. My first was a Daisy single pump action Model 25. I have had it since the early 70's and it still shoots. I wish I had a $1 for every BB put through that thing. I ...I mean ...my daughter has a single break barrel crossman .177 pellet gun. we love shooting it and it comes in very handy for close quarter varmit control. I have to agree with Steve. If I was going afield I always prefer one of my .22 rimfires
  10. Great...learn something new every day. New York State Gun Laws NON-RESIDENTS It is unlawful for any person to carry, possess or transport a handgun in or through the state unless he has a valid New York license. (A provision of federal law provides a defense to state or local laws which would prohibit the passage o persons with frearms in interstate travel if the person is traveling from any place where he may lawfully possess and transport a frearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and transport such frearm and the frearm is unloaded and in the trunk. In vehicles without a trunk, the unloaded frearm shall be in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console). A member or coach o an accredited college or university target pistol team may transport a handgun into or through New York to participate in a collegiate, Olympic or target pistol shooting competition provided that the handgun is unloaded and carried in a locked carrying case and the ammunition is carried in a separate locked container. Non-resident target shooters may enter or pass through New York State with handguns for the purposes of any NRA approved competition or IHMSA sanctioned match, within 48 hours of the competition, if the competitor has in his possession a copy of the match program, proof of entry and a pistol license from his state of residence. The handgun must be unloaded and transported in a locked opaque container. This provision does not apply in NY cities not wholly contained within a single county or to people with felony convictions. Possession of frearms by a person who is a nonresident of this state is lawful while attending or traveling to or from an organized convention or exhibition approved by the NRA, and in which the nonresident is a registered participant within forty-eight hours of such event, provided that the nonresident has not been previously convicted o a felony and further provided that the frearms are transported unloaded in a locked opaque container together with a copy of the convention or exhibition program, convention or exhibition schedule or convention or exhibition registration card. This provision does not apply in NY cities not wholly contained within a single county.
  11. you must have a valid permit to possess a pistol in NY. Use has no bearing. Also. where did you get the information you mentioned about it being OK if you are on your way to an NRA event?
  12. Like any of them....and I mean ANY...some days it will have them running in....others...they will be running away. I put them out. I feel they at least draw the attention away from me. I tend to set them up behind me from where I think they wil be coming from. I have toms...jakes and hens. last few years i just put out 2 of the collapsable foam hens on the 2 part stakes. Flambeau maybe? I left the males out and I seem to get less spooks from the birds. I am certain others have had similiar....and totally opposite results...lol Just FYI. My two largest birds were shot walking and calling to find a hot bird in late morning and I never got a chance to put a decoy out
  13. I thought about that Gman. It is the first implement I had really used behind our wheelers. They are only 500's and I wasn't sure how they would pull. If we end up getting a small tractor I probably will add one. That could probably handle it pretty well.
  14. Thanks....had to pull it with Dad's bombardier traxter though. Under load my sportsman would squat and change the digging depth. I have to make a rear suspension lock and that will be solved
  15. there is also a little unit like a water turbine (for the folks in hilly country). water is collected in a container from a spring or stream and flows down a pipe. At the end of the pipe is this unit. as long as the water flows there is electricity. I also came across a unit a guy built from an old squirrel cage fan. If I remember right is gave him about 2 amps an hour wich is really good considering it produces at 24 hours.
  16. cabin with the 45 watt panel mounted on roof
  17. if that regulator is the one I saw there you could use it for up to 100 watts. you could keep adding up to 6 of thos 15 watt panels into it. $30 is a pretty good price.
  18. I finally got the grader done and gave it a test run at camp this last weekend. 5' blade that angles both ways Guage wheels that allow independent adjustment to set a crown. It worked really well but the material was a tad wet to roll of the blade. sure beats the $1,000 to 1,200 I have seen on some types. I have it made so I can drop the blade off and add a york rake (next project is to make this)
  19. Looks great Sky.....beautiful deer and the mount looks great. You gonna mount it right above the headboard?
  20. hmmmmm...fromt he post title I was hoping someone had some ready for carving.....lunch time and I am hungry....lol My B-I-L had them breeding last week in his back yard in Syracuse area.
  21. yeah seems a little pricey to me too. I would rather spend the $90 for a small generator like I posted above. At least you could multi function that....power tools as well as a charger...plus a small inverter for a battery charging task isn't too expensive. Good luck on your "chores". I am going to camp this weekend to try out the grader blade I made to pull behind the wheeler.
  22. LOL...I must have had too much. I saw the post and was like "dam man I am long winded". Hope it helps anyway. any questions let me know. I did quite a bit of research before we did ours because I hate spending money to redo something I just did.
