  1. Well, if your gonna spend 10k, look at some of those rigs on CL. For 13-14-15k you can have a tractor and complete the work. Total project may cost you a couple more bucks for stone and tile but once it's done, your left with a tractor... and a minimal payment. You could prob sell the rig for what you paid...Or spend 25k, plus materials and your left with a hefty payment and a new tractor that will not be close to your payoff within a few years.

  3. I'd say your a candidate for a used rig. I'm certain you could find something older that will get you through the next couple years vs a new machine ( again with the resale of the Mahindra ) that you could sell quickly for next to no loss and get the new rig you want. Plus if you get the HP you want now @25ish you will find out if that will work before you take the plunge on a new machine. What area are you in ? Have you checked Craigslist ?
  4. Just consider size too, you won't regret going bigger but you may regret going smaller. Used or new is your budget, but I still think you may be disappointed @25hp. For reference, my friend has a 30hp Kubota HST,which equates to 24hp at PTO. When he pulls a 6' brush hog it really runs the tractor hard especially in golden rod/ saplings.
  5. Haven't had time for either yotes or crows. But so far this year I have knocked down quite a few. Crow hunting is a blast and really helps local farmers out. In my area I have 30min after first light, 11-1pm and 3-4pm. Other than that I get minimal action.
  6. Tractors come in handy. So do ATVs. If it was me, I'd look used. I'd also stick with orange or green. Main reason is resale. Look at used Mahindra's, they are all over the place used and pretty cheap compared to bota and Deere. Granted you lose the zero percent but I'm sure you could find a rig to suit your needs and get financed through a credit union for a reasonable rate... On a side note, most compact tractor owners always regret getting too small. 24hp is nice, but what is HP @ pto, since that is going to make a big difference on brush hog and tiller. Gear drive maintains HP at pto but suck for loader work. Another thing to consider ( forgetting about warranty) is how "tough" is the machine ? Big axles, frame thickness etc. Some of the brand new machines make great numbers and specs on paper but aren't really made to "work". I just sold my almost 40 year old Kubota for 8k. It barely cost that brand new... I do alot of woods work and loader work so I wanted to get rid of the gear and go HST. My god what a difference. So glad I made the jump. I also went from 30hp to 40hp. Also a great difference. OK, so enough of my blah blah blah. My .02 is buy used. Save the money, lower payment and if you actually get enough side work you save that and with a bota or Deere you won't lose much if any by adding a few hours on it then you can trade up for a new rig, if needed. Btw, here is the old vs new rig
  7. That's bada$$ !! Love the sound of wings flapping too. Great video ! Thanks for sharing !!!
  8. Tough situation for all. In my experience, it's all about the ID before you shoot. Could be a kitty cat, neighbor's dog, out of season Fox etc. Even on my own land nothing changes. Every light manufacturer states average "ID range " on lights.... This is poor hunting, but I also sympathize with shooter since he must feel like a real Ahole
  9. Ditto. Had one answer way off but was not interested in coming in. Only responded once.
  10. If this weather keeps up they may survive. And trust me, the effort is being put in to hunt them. I'm trying to hunt as much as possible to not educate.
  11. Not sure what's worse, aged gutpiles or these dogs skin...
  12. Prob can't stand up in it but Rhino is a phenomenal blind for the money. Heavy duty and well made. I won't buy another primos ever again !
  13. Forget the fine taxi work... What a deer !!! Looks like you are doing him justice with the craftsmanship !
  14. My fav. So much nicer when u can turn the lights off !
  15. Called in a pack last night in catt county. Unfortunately the guys I were hunting with did not heed my instructions. We setup on a hedgerow splitting two fields and I gave him downwind side.i even told him the dogs would come out his side. He couldn't see the whole field and a dog snuck up to 50yrds downwind. I had eyes in the woods @150-175 and when I saw it turn to run I let one fly. Clean miss. I'll never give up the "good" side again !! Was good to get out and hear some howls though.
  16. Def eating carcass. He was there for a half hour. I got some videos too, pretty cool. Love when he does the exorcist and looks behind him.
  17. Couple more. Got some mange bags, and if look close at the fox pic he has a ghost with him...
  18. Landed on the cam, and yes he took a dump on it too...
  19. Please tell my wife,I was right once ! I shot from the hip guessing you don't have any farm fields / AG crops on property. I also guessed it was average hardwoods with average game around. For my .02, 10/acre is a good price for everybody. If you have crops or great bedding, or a "mature" herd, or any other enticing feature to the property by all means 20/30/40 is possible. If you have somebody willing to pay 50.... Take it !!
  20. Just pattern it ! As far as diaphram goes, be that idiot calling in the truck on your way to work ! You have plenty of time to master it !! Seriously. If you drive to work, use the time to practice. If you ride the subway.... Freedom of speech ? Either way, slate or box or dia or whatever. Still good to get plenty of practice in !
