  1. Def looks like a useable rig !! Now to get some fur in the crosshairs!!! Sidebar. Are you planning on upgrading scope anytime soon ? I went with a 3-12x56 and can tell you it's literally night and day with being able to identify past 150 now. My old 4-16x40 was nice but the new optics is hands down the best investment I've made on my setup. If I had thermal money I would have got that but I have too many new toys to justify it now...
  2. I like the tent idea. So if we combine efforts ( your tent added with my hot cocoa ) we really have what America needs. Golly gee times are tough. Glad we have people like you and me willing to give back !
  3. No !!!! I figured his post was to have some fun, so let's have some fun !!! Libtown breadneck... I have a fuzzy little teddy bear, a hug and a hot cocoa for you. I have been trying to accommodate all Hillary voters as I understand how hard it must be for this "clown" to be the new POTUS. Let me know when and how I can get it to you
  4. So many things to say, so little time. Out of curiosity Mr uptown redneck, do you care to share who you voted for ?
  5. If you get any response it's always good to stay silent. They heard you, if they are interested they will come in. If you give them 10min and nothing you could either do a very short howl or pup distress or a bit of both with a silence in between. The key to it is usually knowing when to stay quiet even though your adrenaline is through the roof and you want immediate results. Over calling is a mistake we all make, that's for sure. I'm far from a pro, and I can tell you 10min of silence can feel like hours, but it works !
  6. 10's can be tough on the shoulder... Plus ammo can me difficult to find. I'd agree with others, maybe look into patterns with new chokes or a different Barrell. If your set on something new, the rem versamax is a gun you can't kill, and with 3.5"s you will get your range and easy on the shoulder.
  7. What's that old saying, thread is useless without pics... Seriously though, can we see this dog ?

    2017 Elite

I won't judge till I pull one back. I am definately satisfied with my energy32 so it will have to aim for me to make me trade up...But elite is my fav bow company and has the warranty. I'm sure it's a sweet setup.
  9. Good luck !! I was able to put a few down this am.
  10. Have not. Considering it though. It's a big chunk of change, that's def worth it, just justifying the additional dollars,ya know. I have a bunch of gift cards but I think they are going to new optics for the rifle. My current scan light does its job fairly well. Streamlight waypoint lithium (was 175$ if I remember correctly) and I have the red filter for it. Good out to 200+ yrds and with the filter off is a phenomenal tracking and deer spotlight.
  11. Nothing else is close in price with all the features it has... And it's made in the USA!
  12. So I've spotted an eagle twice now at the farm. They are beyond rare by us so I'm thawing out my cams and I'll have it set on the bone pile this week. Really hoping to get him on cam. It's an absolute giant bird...
  13. Somebody got a new scope mounted kill light for Christmas ! It's green and I normally use red for scanning, but I'll give it a run... I used to use white kill light but I usually waited till last second to light it up. Would use red scan light then hit the white gun light, now I might be able to set down the scan light sooner to prepare for the shot. Gonna try and get out in the next few nights and give er a run.
  14. I feel it can be a make or break attribute to any hunter... Been a habit of mine ever since I can remember. But thanks ! I'm curious to see what it is !
  15. Last pic... Way in the back, middle of the screen... Looks like a big body
  16. If you have spots, u can get " taught ". I'm no pro but I've got a few hours and dogs under my belt. They are beyond smart and as hard if not harder to kill than a whitetail. I don't mind sharing my experiences but I hate burning out my go to spots. I have a very large cattle farm in Eden area to hunt as well, it can be tough because they have a consistent dead pile that the dogs can hit when they want. Maybe we can cross paths.
  17. Saw some fat lady in the field tonight. She yelled at me. Till 17' my friends !!!
  18. So, spotted a giant in the field next to the house last night, like at 10pm I could see rack in the dark @80 yrds.... So, looks like I'll be hunting in the backyard for the countdown. He's way too big to not take a chance. Saw 17 deer at the farm last night but I saw nothing compared to this stud. Hopefully he stays with the does and follows them out for a snack. Enjoy your last hunt !
  19. Way to hold it together ! Hope you wear a harness too... But seriously. Great job in late season with the stick and string. Rage in the cage !
  20. Hey, I can add to this list with a ML ! 125yrds. Stoned him.
  21. Hey, by no means am I down on myself or making excuses for shooting him ! I'm tickled ! As far as the whole cull/management thing, we had a giant mainframe 6 on cams that was killed during bow on a bordering property. He was aged at 5.5, 20" wide and 200#. Now yes, he was awesome, But I also had on cams this and another 2.5 with very similar racks. Educated guess that it's that bucks offspring, so taking that into consideration he was on the hitlist. We also have a "12,13 and a 15". The 12 is a spike on one side with fork on the other. I guess age of 3.5. The 13 is a spike/3pt on left side guessing also @3.5, and the 15 is a spike / 5 on right side guessing @4.5. The 15 is a big bodied saggy back and belly buck. Again, I'm assuming they are all related and all on the kill list. Now for the reality, of which I'm aware of. I am trying to manage 200+ acres like it's south Texas, and it's obviously not. BUT, I did the same practices on another property of 100+ acres and by year 5 I shot my 2 biggest to date in one season, one being an old warrior who was Pope and young. Unfortunately I moved out of that house that next spring so I wasn't able to keep it going. But this is my family's new farm, so it's not going anywhere and even if I try to manage something that may not work, I'm going to try !!! Maybe in the coming years I'll post up some big boys on here and we can reflect on this post ( and how some of you think I'm nuts for trying ) and say man, that treeguy is on to something ! For what it's worth though, even if I set myself up for it, and even if you dropped an "lol" it's sure gratifying to know there will always be somebody on any forum that will try to pee in your cheerios ! Wooly, it's cool. I get it. I'm not mad, I get your point, but really man ? I never made any excuses...
  22. Honestly, I cannot believe I went out. I just refused to let a season go with Nada. I was really just hoping to kill a doe ! I'm gonna head back to another spot where I was on some giants during bow, with this cold front coming in and some pressure off I'll dedicate some time to them . Either one of them will make this an unforgettable season
  23. Well. 19th gun season ended for me with a first of no deer. Had no real opportunity's on any big guys even during bow. Barely was seeing any doe. As of Sunday night me and the kids were up all night barfing with a nasty stomach bug. Wife came home early from work and the snow was really coming down, she sat down next to me and said " didn't you get a big buck a couple years ago during a snow storm ?". Really sweetheart !?! How could she say that. So I decided to take a hot shower and if I felt up to it, bundle my butt up and hit the stand... Well, I did. Now I will tell you there was a few times I thought I was gonna have a rearend eruption and after I shot I almost puked a few times, but this unlucky buck came out into the cut corn @ 125yrds. Hit em and he dropped like a rock. Not my biggest but a decent buck and he's got bad Genetics anyways.. was 2.5 and only a 6, 17" wide. We have a couple bucks on the farm I wanted dead and he was on the list. Very happy to fill at least one tag this year !! To add to this, this guy is the first deer off the new farm, and my first ever ml deer. So glad I sucked it up tonight and went out. Between the 4" per hour blizzard, the shivers, the flu and a already bad attitude from a long slow season it all payed off. Now if I can finish off with another big guy I'll be a real happy camper! I have another "cull" and 1 giant that I would like to put in the dirt. Either will be fine by me !
