exactly what happened to me and a few thousand others in the last 5 years at Time Inc. Next big layoff comes right before they move downtown in October. My former coworkers have a doom and gloom cloud hanging over them, it sucks to work this way.

I took out a package of venison steaks (cutlets) pounded them and fried for two minutes each side. I was lucky enough to get a tub full of my sister in laws homemade apple sauce last weekend. Had the steak with the apple sauce and it was great! There is something about mixing fruit and venison together that brings out a great taste. My stew always has apples and pears in it.

I saw this first hand at my processor a few years ago. DEC was there logging in all the deer that were and would be processed. I asked the owner where they looking for violations and he said no they will check who reports their deer or not.

In between jobs right now, I was cutting firewood all day, it was a good day with no distractions!

Teens early 20's I had to be out there 24/7. Nothing got in the way and hate to say it some bad decisions were made. Now at 52 I look at hunting as a privilege, the little place I can get away to that lets me be and lets me choose what I want to kill! Sure opening weekend is pretty sacred but all other weekends have their place.

I was headed over tom my brother in laws house to watch the Ranger game on Thursday. I was just outside of Savona and saw this huge Tom. What caught my eye was how big and deep red his head was, a huge body to follow. that was some trophy for sure.

Paula, It is so nice up here. Not much traffic on my road, only one neighbor who is like a brother to me…..just can't get better!

Just some shots from the last two days. Cut some firewood today. Cut down a ton of small trees at the bottom of my property. This will become a pretty big green field. We experimented with a smaller area and attracted lots of deer. I will mow it all summer long. Weather has been great the last two days…..I love it here! That last picture is my view from the front porch. A while back we debated wind turbines and how they ruin the surrounding areas view. This is what I'm up against, the don't bother me one bit.

Congrats….Go Redmen! OOPs I mean Red Storm……that was back in the day I was there!

In third grade the curriculum looks at the cultures around the world. Have you gone to a parent teacher meeting lately?

Good for her and the family. Glad she made the decision and is on her way to a nice school. Hearing a few stories just like this over this past weekend. Not an easy decision at all. You know I spent two years at St. John's and then went on to Plattsburgh State. No reason why she an't do the same if she is not totally happy there. Like I said Plattsburgh had so much better hunting and fishing available…lol.

Nothing like being in the woods and see it all happen around you. I become part of my hunting scene for 10 hours or so for a day. Hopefully I get a big part somewhere along the way and kill a deer. I lifts the weight off your shoulders from everyday life and puts meat on the table. So many memories with family and friends are made…that's why I hunt.

I'm staying out of this one……lol. Tough decisions to make all around. I did 2 years at SJU and then went to Plattsburgh State. Hunting and fishing was great my last two years of school not so much the first half. lol Good luck to her and your family.

Woolrich Coat and pants...FREE
First-light replied to Pygmy's topic in Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
I have the same coat it has to be almost 30 years old. Best coat for wear and keeping you warm, sorry I missed out on those pants! -
I went to St. John's, for the money it's over rated. My niece goes to cortland and really likes, she is on the soccer team. Check out Money Magazines new way of rating colleges. http://time.com/money/collection/moneys-best-colleges/ I know the people behind this and it's top notch! Good luck!! BTW that is a nice chunk of change SJU is giving her, i'm sure you are very proud!

You break your butt through life and hopefully have something to show for it in the end. I have had my cabin for 8 years now and so many memories have been made up there, it is truly priceless. This is a picture of my brother with his grandson glassing deer in my back field. This picture is worth a thousand words and makes it all worth it!!!

Priceless!!! -
Rangers clinched the division now they are playing for the Presidents trophy! Should be a great game. My 11 year olds first hockey game, tickets courtesy of Sports Illustrated. As you know I no longer work for Time Inc. so it was a nice parting gift from some close friends!
