  1. Hey just talked to mu buddy from a stand in Maryland, he just took 5 doe in 8 seconds......lol actually he hasn't seen a thing all morning and that feeder is just 30 yards away. Must have some crappy corn in there! lol He confirmed 10 doe in one day if you want to burn all your doe tags.

  3. I want to be like you Joe, lol. You talk about tracking them with the recurve, totally awesome. This is a great video for all hunters to rejoice in.
  4. Yes mandatory, thanks. Too many does get passed early season, hunters want to help do your part.
  5. I don't think he is a pos, he can take 6 more like that legally. Just not my style or yours.
  6. Nothing wrong with it, you can take 10 doe in certain areas. I just wouldn't shoot up the woods like that. Ruins the whole hunting experience for me, that is just me. If there was a scenario where a wounded animal could get away it would be that. His first two were shot and eventually would of died but he didn't know that. He opted to shoot the last two before finishing the first.
  7. Shooting 4 deer in 9 seconds does nothing for me. With that said the camp next to me is owned by guys from Maryland. They have so many deer down there and a very liberal doe harvest. They actually will not shoot any does up at the N.Y. camp because they fill the freezer back home. I guess I would rather see a hunter take these deer rather than a sharpshooter....
  8. Good luck let us know what happens, why not whack a doe and help with the problem out here?
  9. If the hunters want to "help" control the deer on L.I. make a mandatory law that before you can shoot a buck two does have to be taken. 1st two months they are all after the bucks, now that we have been int the last few weeks "brown and down" is the attitude. This has to start at the beginning, maybe start the season September 15th and make the first month does only, shoot as many as you want.
  10. http://riverhead.patch.com/groups/politics-and-elections/p/riverhead-opts-out-of-sharpshooter-deer-solution The entire article.
  11. "Next, Walter said the town plans to work with Legislator Al Krupski to open up the North Fork Preserve on Sound Avenue, as well as with New York State, to open up 700 acres in Wildwood State Park and a park in Jamesport for hunting, with the town's hunting committee coordinating efforts."
  12. So Riverhead is going to open up some new properties to hunting. I just hope they don't limit it to Riverhead residents only.
  13. My 9 year old just watched Apollo 13 the other day and called it "epic" I will share this with her tonight when I see her. Thank you.
  14. This is about stories but about when my Father in law would tell them. He hunted all his life with his 4 brothers. Adirondacks was the place to be Indian lake to be exact. He had a stroke at 50 and at 80 the good Lord called him home. For most of those years after the stroke our 6 hr trip to camp in the finger lakes was filled with stories about past hunts. Breaking the ice so they could run their boat up the lake, putting down the guns to fight a forest fire, tent collapsed with a few feet of snow and how it was the first day after he got back from Korea he told his wife he and his brothers were going hunting! (she almost killed him but let him go) He would tell those stories on that 6 hour trip over and over again. He never fell asleep and I never got bored. I miss you Gus you were a great guy and a wonderful hunting companion.
  15. Ha Ha-I jinxed myself for 2013, missed a nice buck opening day! (did take a doe)
  16. Nope. With the unfortunate experience of shooting a big one in the head, it won't kill them.
  17. Merry Christmas to everyone. I'm off until the 2nd so a lot of time to do nothing!! Will shoot up to the cabin for three days next weekend. I'll spend much needed time with my kids this vacation.....Have a safe and wonderful Christmas!
  18. Nice post, love seeing the age and antler growth in chronological order. I wish more picts like this were out so you can see how much bigger they get at certain ages.
  19. We have that whole area between 4 hunters so we control it all. We had numbers 7 and 8 in the lottery so we decided to do adjoining properties. Private land to the east so I don't see how our piece will be pushed. Thanks for the info Greybeard.
  20. Ok Santa, going to need a little help here!! love it!!!
  21. Thankful we have the spots to hunt. Greybeard is on spot with what he said. Those deer are so use to the smells and noise of out east use it to your favor. I'm very excited this year. My BIL is coming down from the Fingerlakes and hunting with us on the opening day of shotgun. We have spot 9 and 10 all to ourselves. This closes off the whole section boarded by Grumman, Wadding river and Line road. He is going to be in heaven because that property is beautiful!
  22. Good luck everyone, not a good time for this to happen. Then again it never is. Use your head and don't do anything you will regret. Watch those tree limbs.
  23. My 50th Birthday party. The cabin. 1st time girls went squirrel hunting, the basket is for the harvest! Surf fishing at Eatons Neck. Walked in from work and Mac had everything under control!
