  1. My buddy served 20 years , saw combat and protected this country. He doesn't live "high on the hog" what will be next???? http://money.cnn.com/2013/12/12/news/economy/military-pensions-budget/index.html?iid=Lead
  2. Buddy has a full body mount of a piebald in his game room. Shot it twenty years ago and I know him as the luckiest hunter around! Always fills his buck tag, bow and gun. So much for bad karma.
  3. You could use those things as Hay Hooks!!
  4. You get to hunt too much…..I'm calling foul!! lol good luck
  5. A good season is having a couple in the freezer. It seems the past few years I have had new hunters on the property. I love seeing them get their first! That happened this year so it was a great season!!! The bottom line for me, Being out there enjoying my property, with old and new hunters, and having the opportunity to harvest a deer means a great season.* *My two girls would be very disappointed if the freezer didn't get filled (that would not be a good season for them) lol
  6. A lot of food produced by Mother nature this year. Deer don't have to move as far. We also had a lot of standing corn late into the season. It will be interesting to see the numbers.
  7. Vineyards are fencing off their property, new construction going up, this was bound to happen. It sucks for us as hunters but maybe it will bring in a better buck to doe ratio?
  8. Sure is just make sure it was properly sealed last year.
  9. Damn your deer pole is so close to the house, you can cut and throw it right into the kitchen!!
  10. Giving up info about a huge buck that you shot can bring on many problems down the road. Look at how many threads we have about trespassers and other illegal activities that go on. I bet you there are hunters out there scouting that area trying to find a way in to hunt it next year. It's silly but you can't trust people especially if you give up your location of the buck kill. Hell this year I had 4 deer hanging on my deer pole by 10 am opening day. Don't you know it that every Tom Dick and Harry stopped by to talk about the deer. They even got down to asking if I was a full tome resident and where I was coming from. I think information will get out one way or another. But to post it on social media is social suicide.
  11. What was up with the meat that made it unpalatable?
  12. We won ours in a Pub raffle this year. Can't beat it and it's a real nice fresh tree.
  13. I get to bed early 9-10 each night. I usually wake up at 2 am every night. If I want to sleep through the night I take a half pill of the PM advil/tylenol. Works for me..
  14. Just relieved last number could you believe we got 8!!!! So we have 7 and 8 we will all hunt together opening day!!
  15. Just found out an 11 point and a big wide 8 pt were killed by me opening day. Could be the 8 in my avatar????
  16. If this was public land I see no problem going in and looking for the wounded deer. If I saw a truck parked there I would be quite and respectful while looking for the deer. Now if this is in the controlled areas out east on LI I would of told the check in station what was going on to warn hunters in that area you were looking for a deer. We have property in the Finger lakes that has the "White trail" going through it. This is a hiking trail open year around. I have been in my stand at prime time and have had hikers walking through. Shi# happens when land is open to the public.
  17. Hang ons come in, ladders stay out. Loosen up the straps and leave them where they stand.
  18. Kale greens smothered in sardines. Then I'll go coon hunting and they will come running to me….lol
