Hey "young fella" do you think there is anything wrong with packing up the pumpkins that were used for halloween and throwing them in the woods for the critters to eat? I have been collecting them at home from all my neighbors, they either go to the critters or the landfill?? Doesn't seem bad up by me in 8P but the apples were hurting this year.

Some real big ones killed this year-that is a monster!

Good Job. May you shoot a huge one at LI gun season!!

Around by me sports and academics are big and if you don't get the grades you don't play. Sorry I just don't see you point of view. I'm leaving this thread, its going nowhere. -

There is a wide range of talent on teams, not just for the few star players. Did you ever hear of JV teams???? -

It might be but the majority of budgets keep on passing, the people have spoken. -

Extended school hours-good luck. Kids have enough pressure on them right now with the amount of work they bring home. As for the sports programs, which wasn't a part of the original post, leave them as is. It's your choice to play or not. -
Just my opinion-that's what happens when you shoot 5 times at a deer running from you. You hope just to hit it and bring it down........and look what happens. Real nice buck, what a shame.

Way to go Wooly, glad you got one.

That was me "shot from the truck" sorry for that. Situations sucks anyway you look at it.

I think this is getting a bit over analyzed now. Quads first, deer running second and shot from truck third. Sounds illegal to me......would of reported it though. it's also sad that as the season wears on people resort to things like this to harvest a deer. Road hunters were out in full force by me over the weekend.

I agree. I could had a nice 120-130lbs doe hanging Saturday morning but it was just about 6:30.

So who would retire from deer hunting if this happened to you?

Get in before light about 15 min to a half hour. This weekend killed me. Brought a buddy along to check out what hunting is all about. We were set up at 6:20 and had a hog of a doe and a yearling walk right by us at ten yards. It was 6:30 snow on the ground you could see them as clear as day. He asked why I didn't shoot and I explained the legal hours to him. Sunday morning we are in the same spot and hear a shot at 6:35-6:40, he looks at me and says-illegal. He is learning and loved the weekend.

Great story Sam, congrats!!!

We left the cabin at 12:25 yesterday in the rain. As we made our way to rt 17 we look into a cut corn field and there stands a nice buck just eating away. Middle of the day in the open and raining out. Think he knows everyone is home watching football on a rainy day!!!

We just got back. Again not many deer sighted. The south wind totally sucks for us and that is all we had all weekend. So I take my friend with me and we go to the "bear den" stand. We settle in at 6:20 and I say a little prayer for a little help so he sees one. 6:25 crunching from across the flat. Sounds like a person walking, my buddy says they are deer. I look up and here comes a hog of a doe and a yearling. They come within 20 feet of us. Turn cross a creek and head up my field. There was snow on the ground and there was decent light, we still had almost a half hour until legal shooting hours. He questioned that and I explained it to him. Although I don't agree with the rule it was 6:25. We see two small ones later the afternoon but they were traveling the speed of light. My brother sees a doe but no shot. That was it. It was a really cool weekend, boys club, at the cabin. Good food, shot of whiskey, beer and a couple of good friends to wash it down with. Don't know if I make smoke pole, don't look good so this may be it for the season. Two bucks with the bow for us this season!

You know what I said. NYH92 got it done, congrats!!!!!

Being picked up around 7:30 be at the cabin around 1. It will be rough but this is it for the season. Can't make smokepole so I hope we connect this weekend. Been quite up there my neighbor tells me, not much tracks. It will be nice to just get out. My good friend who doesn't hunt is coming along to check it all out. He will tag along with me and if all goes well will get his license next year. Good luck all!
