  1. What do you charge per/acre and what region are you in. I lease out about 25 acres I could get about 20 bucks per/acre but choose to have him do favors for me when needed (brush hog or plow food plots.)
  2. No I don't. Unfortunately I'm from out-of-town but my brother-in-law usually sets some up for me. Him and his son got permission to hunt a farm that is basically off limits to hunters. My nephew puts in alot of free time with the farmer and got prmission to hunt a 30 acre funnel that links a bunch of plots together. They have pictures of at least 3 8-10 pts and one monster 12. I'm waiting to see picts, so that's where the trail cams are.
  3. Zemm, Any sign off those dogs that run in the area. I remember how they screwed things up for you.
  4. Hey Zemm, Nice pictures! The famous crabapple tree, love it! Remember the spike from last year that is great! Nice bucks in the pictures.
  5. I have 4 different people who border me. Hunt club to the north, great bunch of guys. To the west a guy who owns a small 9 acre parcell with his girlfriend, again they are very nice and only hunt gun and opening week. To the east is a guy who I became great friends with. Being I'm from out-of-town he looks after the place gets the water and heat going before I get there. We are best of friends! 4th guy I don't know and never had a problem with. I'm lucky to have such good neighbors.
  6. just to ad one more, logging crews will not cut down line trees so you do have some big trees along lines producing alot of mast crop.
  7. We have agreements also. I do however hang a stand on the back of my property about 20 yards off the line. Now I know my neighbor does not have any stands closer than 200 yards of that stand.
  8. Killed a PY buck coming into a scrape I doctored with Tinks 69 gel. Also have had on many occasions bucks checking out scent bottles left on trees. I think it helps but to each his own.
  9. Do you have rules with your neighbors? No, 10 yard, 30 yard, 50 yard, you see'em shoot'em? It's never been a problem for me but you never know when "old mossy horns" is 30 yards on you neighbors property, what to do!!!!
  10. Maybe I should put a piggy bank out there!
  11. No I didn't. Never knew where they came from??????/
  12. I live on Long Island and about 2 years ago I put a milk box on the front stoop. One day when I was out getting the kids off to school I looked into the box and there sat two half gallons of milk. Go figure!!!!!
  13. If there wasn't any renters there would be no landlords. I have a few friends that rent and make a nice penny on the deal. The landlords pay the rent and the renters pay the landlord. The landlord is making a profit so the landlord pays the taxes. I live on Long Island and there are so many illegal apartments and illegal's using the school district. But who's to blame, it's capitalism. We only bitch because we're not in on it.
  14. Good points Doc. My 2 most fondest hunting experiences were my first and last. The first was at the age of 12 tagging along with my brother and his friend Grouse hunting. His friend shoots a double and I'm like a bird dog chasing down the birds delivering them back to the shooter. I was so excited and hooked on hunting. The second happened last year when I took out a 14 year old bowhunter for his first hunt. He shoots a nice button buck on his first try, felt like a bird dog once again. In between I have shot PY bucks but never has it come close to those two experiences.
  15. First few years will usually shoot anything that comes by. Gets real excited at the sight of a deer, "buck fever can set in" ENJOYING every aspect about the hunting experience. Once he gets a taste of "Bone" (8pt or better) he becomes a trophy hunter. Passing on does and small bucks. Late in the season he may take a doe for meat. AR topic comes up and he truly believes in the mindset to let the smaller bucks walk. Hunting becomes an obsession, trying to kill a big buck. Years are spent chasing the trophy. A few years may go by and the "bone collector" goes dry. He starts to have second thoughts about AR. Itchy finger starts to set in a he surprises his buddies by shooting a small buck first week of season. Feels good again to harvest a buck. As time goes by he shoots a buck almost every year with a few good ones mixed in. He says to himself, now in his 40's, this isn't bad it's like when I first started hunting, I'm really "ENJOYING" the experience. We go "full circle in life" this is just a part of it. AR or not, just ENJOY the experience! Take a kid along while you at it.
  16. I think we need a "beer summit" and put our differences aside.
  17. I did the same thing about 7 years ago. We call ourselves Team Legend. I made a full length movie in Final Cut Pro of all of our hunting adventures. Never got a website going. We hunt out of Schuyler and Steuben counties. What does it take to join you team?
  18. Nice website you guys have going. I really like it. What area do you guys hunt?
  19. I remember seeing deer like that one on a show once. They said it was some sort of cyst that grows abnormally large on the deer. Some live with the cyst for years until it becomes too uncomfortable.
  20. Probably the best trail cam picks I have seen. Tells it all. It wasn't too long ago we all thought a spike is a spike and won't get any bigger.
  21. I'm in the publishing business and this magazine has good layout, great photos and the stories are excellent. It is not a hunting magazine but a tool to pass along the past, present and future outdoor experiences in N.Y.S. I make sure I pass it along to member of our younger generation. I get a subscription buying a legacy license.
  22. Well we always talked about a late season food and my neighbor who has been there for years said pumpkins are great. The deer really eat them up late season. It also will be cool for my girls to bring a couple home. I'll keep you posted on how they do.
