  1. Tag is on the left antler in the back, it's the real deal from a very reliable source.
  2. It's the buck I posted shots of. Check out BBD Watkins Glen area.
  3. Real nice deer, don't know much about it. Congratulations to the hunter!
  4. Good luck Zem, I'll give the usual shout-out when we drive by, it will be 1am Fri morn so I'll do it in a low voice..............
  5. It all starts this weekend at the camp. I will be heading up Thursday night with my brother and we will be hunting straight through Sunday evening. My Brother-in-law and his friend may be joining us. There was a new lease across the road from us and I heard that they took a 6pt and a doe opening weekend! Weather should be good but we have a full moon. With a little luck you never know. I may try posting from the cabin with my IPAD if not it will have to wait till Monday. GLTA
  6. That's lung, liver would almost be purple looking blood real deep in color.
  7. Bubba, I'm with you, right around the 4th is my target. I'll be in stand this year 5th-9th.
  8. Excellent advice about going back and doing circles. Never forget this when all else fails, Way to go!
  9. Shot a deer at 7 in the morning and found him later in the afternoon, crows were even pecking at him. Was a big 3 yr old buck close to 190lbs. He tasted great! Don't worry about it.
  10. I started a thread on years hunting and deer wounded and not recovered by gun and bow. I found it interesting that the numbers were very low, good for us and the deer.
  11. Hit a big body deer in the liver at 20 yards. He didn't run but just walked away. I found the arrow covered in deep dark red blood. I walked past this deer 3 times (spotty blood trail) before it bolted across a field. I went back to camp and gave it 4 hours. Came back out with some help and looked for another 2.5 hours. The only reason we found this deer was the noise the crows were making pecking at its wound. We went over to see what they were doing and we found the deer. True story, so in despair look to the skies for crows!
  12. I work in the publishing division at Time Warner in N.Y.C.
  13. Found two like this the other tree is much bigger but not as torn up!!!!!!!
  14. I have a 6 hr trip from ENothport to Howard. Love the drive but Sunday's could get bad with all the leaf watchers. People say why did I pick a place so far from home. I tell them it is my home, I'm just visiting the island! Honestly there is no other place I would hunt in N.Y. then the Finger Lakes. Each region of the state has its qualities but in the Finger Lakes you get more "bang for you Buck!"
  15. I feel the same way been battling some injuries. When I get into that car next Thursday night it will hit like a ton of bricks.
  16. Better be ready bow in hand. They can sneak right up on you and usually never stop. Make sure your buckled in!
  17. Last year we had the bear cubs rip the camera off the tree. Just black blurry shots!
  18. JohnB, Adar was right over where I grew up. We moved from Commack to ENport when I was about 3. We lived on Karin ct off of Holly drive. Small world, nice to hear from you guys!
  19. Hey John, Yes it is. I like the site and can't wait to start posting in the journal. Burt
  20. Burt here from East Northport. Hunted out East in Manorville years ago, haven't been back. I have a camp in Steuben county, what a great place to hunt deer!
