  1. Hit a big body deer in the liver at 20 yards. He didn't run but just walked away. I found the arrow covered in deep dark red blood. I walked past this deer 3 times (spotty blood trail) before it bolted across a field. I went back to camp and gave it 4 hours. Came back out with some help and looked for another 2.5 hours. The only reason we found this deer was the noise the crows were making pecking at its wound. We went over to see what they were doing and we found the deer. True story, so in despair look to the skies for crows!
  2. I work in the publishing division at Time Warner in N.Y.C.
  3. Found two like this the other tree is much bigger but not as torn up!!!!!!!
  4. I have a 6 hr trip from ENothport to Howard. Love the drive but Sunday's could get bad with all the leaf watchers. People say why did I pick a place so far from home. I tell them it is my home, I'm just visiting the island! Honestly there is no other place I would hunt in N.Y. then the Finger Lakes. Each region of the state has its qualities but in the Finger Lakes you get more "bang for you Buck!"
  5. I feel the same way been battling some injuries. When I get into that car next Thursday night it will hit like a ton of bricks.
  6. Better be ready bow in hand. They can sneak right up on you and usually never stop. Make sure your buckled in!
  7. Last year we had the bear cubs rip the camera off the tree. Just black blurry shots!
  8. JohnB, Adar was right over where I grew up. We moved from Commack to ENport when I was about 3. We lived on Karin ct off of Holly drive. Small world, nice to hear from you guys!

  13. Real nice, that 3 pt had a big body!
  14. I get into the stand by 6:20 give or take a few minutes. I usually stay all day but on occasion I will come out around 10. Killed my biggest buck with the gun coming out at 9:30. I can't tell you how many times I jump deer coming back in around noon. Best to stay right there all day, pack alot of food and water. Last year My brother shot a doe in the morning and we brought my father-inlaw in on the quad, he has a hard time walking. Well after shooting the doe and gutting it and getting the quad out of the area we all headed in for breakfast and to let the area settle down. I was the first back in after 1 1/2 hours, don't you know it I come face to face with Mr. Big right where we all were standing when we decided to come out. We both surprised each other and I fumbled for the safety, the rest is history..............My neighbor tells this story of a great big buck flying through the air at midday from my property to the swamp. Mr. big lives, he wasn't taken last year.
  15. Nicw does so far, deerslayer get some cardboard under that deer! lol
  16. The land I own had 4 home made stands on it they were real nice. Not high up in trees but elevated. Each stand had a funnel that had a cap. The funnel had a hose that went straight into the ground. I never dug one up but I bet ya there is a 5 gal bucket down there with holes in it.
