How many of you folks used to use your thumbnail to pop the rolls of caps? As a kid, I remember the popping them that way until the end of my thumb was black. We used to see how many in a row we could pop as we scraped our nail along the strip. lol. The good old days!

I might be crazy but need a little help.

Hope you are feeling better. I'm not sure what's going on. Starting last night and going on now, I have the same symptoms. I live in a very rural area with a lot of farming going on, but don't remember smelling on liquid manure being spread. I wonder if what I am dealing with has to do with all the metal and rust grindings, and fumes from welding (25 year old welding rod) I was breathing yesterday, as I was rebuilding my old finish mower. I wore a paper mask almost the entire time, but I question it's effectiveness. It feels like having a bad cold or flu, but without a fever. I'm not sure it is environmental related, or maybe we both just caught something that is going around. -

Must be my eyes are even worse than I thought. I keep looking to see what you see. Where in the picture is the outhouse? -
I thought that was for the ice and beer/soda. “Can coolers”!

For the love of family.

It was great to see so many kids, of all ages, involved in something so positive, and out in public. Just as impressive, was the huge crowd of family and friends there in support. Very true! -
How else would you describe Grandpa and Grandma not even stopping to think twice to drive 2 hours to watch 6 year old grandson in his Tae Kwon Do exhibition at the Mall when asked, “will you be there?” To watch, congratulate, get some hugs, and maybe grab a bite to eat together before jumping back on the Thruway to drive the 2 hours back home. Would love to spend the night out here, but unfortunately, duty calls, and it’s back to work in the morning.

Holy crap! Sorry for your loss. Thank goodness nobody got hurt. One of my biggest fears, nightmare, is fire. Hope you can get things put back together soon.

lol. I'm lucky to even be able to see an aspirin in the palm of my hand let alone seei one flying through the air. -
We have never had chickens , ducks, turkeys, etc., but it has our next planed step here on our homestead. We are within a couple days of being ready to purchase a small flock of laying hens, now that the coop is finished and their yard now fenced in to keep them safe. I may need to pick your brain from time to time as we take this next exciting step. Good luck on your spring hatch!

Wow...nice big perch! I'm not sure I have ever seen them that big.

Happy Easter everyone! We ere blessed to have my daughter, SIL, and 6 year old grandson share Easter with us here at the homestead this year. It makes for a great day to be able to share the excitement, enthusiasm and wonder, through the eyes of a 6 year old.

Political humor

There are many hard pills they want us to swallow. And, if they have their way, they will all be laced with fentanyl! -
Looks like a nice big Red fox to me.

Each time there has been a mass shooting, all over the media, the police response is rightly critiqued . When things have been done poorly the coverage is non stop. Why then is it, that in this most recent incident, when the police response seems to have been remarkable, and possibly many lives saved, the officers involved are not being celebrated for their bravery and heroism? Maybe I just missed it. We learn from our mistakes and successes. So, it would be good to hear when and why things succeed, not just when they fail. Has anyone seen them interviewed, recognized for their efforts, and thanked on any television channels or news programs? If not, why?

Was lucky enough to find cow tongues today. Bought five of them, and tomorrow I'll be using Wolcs recipe to pickle them. It worked great on my deer heart so I'm thinking should be good for tongue too. With the world crumbling in front of our eyes, I needed something to cheer me up, and this should do the trick.

A coup we never knew about.

Where are the RINO's speaking out against all of these recent abuses? Could it be they are in support of it? (rhetorical question) Yup! And anyone else who might decide to speak up or ask questions. Better believe they already have their "list". Pray for our country, and all of its citizens to wake up and come together before it is too late. Irrational hate got us into this mess, and I believe only love can get us out of it. Love of country, our way of life, our families, our children, and each other! I said from the time he first announced he was running; Trump was in my opinion the frustrated Blue and White collar working class giving a Big Orange Middle Finger to the entrenched Elite class top level fraternity/sorority made up of both parties. As this country is getting ripped apart at its seams, our enemies around the world are licking their chops, and patiently waiting for the right moment to make their move. -
Trump!!
New York Hillbilly replied to Four Seasons's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
The message I said should have been prioritized to parents and grandparents during the last election was; are you willing to look into your children's eyes and accept responsibility for what sort of future you allowed your hatred to bring upon them. This morning I saw a poll being reported that 78% (+/-) of those who responded say they do not believe their children's lives will be better than the one they lived. How very sad, stupid, selfish, and predictable! -
In case this ride scares the crap out of you!

Trump!!

My question was of course, rhetorical. And, I agree with your analysis! -
Hunting with dogs has been under attack for years by anti-hunting activists who see it as low hanging fruit. It is a strategic means to an end. You win over emotional people, the voting public who will view chasing poor little fuzzy animals as cruel, put an end to this form of hunting, and then work your way up the hunting ladder. Even if they are not able to legally put an end to it, their efforts have been already been successful in my opinion when it comes to having a negative impact on hunting with dogs. It's a very common complaint that land access has become much more difficult, with landowners either viewing it negatively, worries over liability, or just not wanting the perceived hassle of hunters and their dogs on their property. While I don't have beagles now, I did for decades. And, as a landowner myself, I much more welcome hunters and their handlers on my property with my permission, than the random neighborhood "pets" chasing deer past me while I'm on stand.

Trump!!
New York Hillbilly replied to Four Seasons's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
How many people out there believe this; but are to afraid to say it out loud for fear of having someone come knocking for them, believe it but won't say it out loud because they know they were duped into allowing their hatred to help facilitate it, or believe it and just don't care because their goal to get Trump out at any cost was achieved? My public school education teachers always said the only stupid question was the one that is not asked. Why is it now such a bad and potentially dangerous thing, to ask questions? -
Happy St. Patricks Day! : )

Trump!!
New York Hillbilly replied to Four Seasons's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
Even a mouse backed into a corner will fight back to save itself. What keeps me up at night is everything that is going on in this country right now, and realizing it is all part of a very deliberate plan, an attack against this country, and so may people willing to just ignore it all as if nothing is happening. Right now, Trump is the least of our worries, but he is at the top of list for those looking to take us down in my opinion.
