Opening Day Grouse Success, the hard way.
New York Hillbilly replied to Rattler's topic in Hunting Related Pictures
We are thick with Spruce grouse up here. Better plan on a trip up someday! : ) Thought I would share a picture of them in action getting gravel. -
Recovery rate with your bow (poll, but names not public)
New York Hillbilly replied to Core's topic in Bow Hunting
It would be interesting to keep a tally this season on this site, how many are lost. I started reading the Luna thread, and as good a pair of trackers she and her handler clearly are, it sure tells a sad tale about what type of shooting is going on, in my opinion. : ( -
I agree with whats being said about the seat/safety switch. Just taking a stab here: But, in your case, you say the old belt was stretched and loose, so double check the belt tension arm (has a spring on it, or a least did on all mine) and see if it has an adjustment on it. It's the lever that you release the pulley to fit the belt on and off. If the belt tension lever is adjusted to make up for the slack of the old belt, maybe when you re-engage the spring lever with the new belt it is just too tight and is seizing up. If not that, double check how you have the belt on the pulleys. Best of luck!

LOL I won't be brave enough (at this moment) to venture a guess why, on a public forum. -

Just thought I would share. The fish is an Irish Lord, and the fishing vessel is a crab boat headed out to sea. You just never know what you might reel in here, and the scenery is spectacular. Sitting, fishing at the end of Homer Spit, and still loving Alaska! : ) -
Glad you like the picture! The howling we hear could be coyote or wolf, because we have both, or so I've been told. I have not seen coyote here yet but did see a wolf hit on the side of the road. It was HUGE! My home for the past 2 1/2 years is on the Kenai Peninsula. We live between Soldotna and Sterling. Moose constantly walking through yards and/or being hit my cars, bears on the prowl, and a fishing mecca! Pygmy....I'll do my best to find you more of what you like. lol Although, you might get it quicker if you google it!

Very cool. Thank you for sharing the video! -
At first I though he/she was not the sharpest pencil in the box, and got his/her hunting lesson backwards. Soar high, stare down, locate object of prey, then swoop in for the kill......uh....no....I'll stand on ground, stare up, locate object of prey.....and swoop up? Or, perhaps a form of hunting bird of prey dyslexia. Then it dawned on me, He/she was not a predator as much as a prankster. I remember doing this same move as a kid in the schoolyard. Nope....not falling for it! Hahahaha

Excellent point on the clothing. I think the sweater may have accidentally turned her into a Happy Meal!

Happy and Safe New Years to you all!

This one's for you Grow. He/she flew down and perched in a tree in our backyard, and was eyeing our little Terrier. In Alaska they refer to dogs like ours as "eagle bait"! Hahaha.... For a very good reason! Meet the object of his/her interest, Sadie, I mean "eagle bait". She was totally unaware of her potential to become a meal, as I raced her back into the house. : )

Happy Birthday Turkeyfeathers!

Where eagles live in tremendous numbers...Winter and Summer.

Soldotna, Alaska is on the Kenai Peninsula, about midway between Anchorage to the north, and Homer to the south.
