  1. I agree Jeremy. I just don't get that mentality either! Seems fairly simple concept that if it isn't yours leave it alone, land is posted don't go there without permission, etc. There are some real twisted people out there. Not sure how they live with themselves!!
  2. Watching the fields this afternoon. Not risking pushing deer to the guys renting the neighbors land who decided to put a ladder stand ten feet off the fence line facing into one of my apple orchard/creek bottoms. At least the rain stopped here.
  3. Damp to the skin, chilled to the bone, and can't get the darned song Bubbles sang on Trailer Park Boys, "Kitties are so nice " out of my head. Over and over....ah...madness sets in !
  4. One snuck in behind me this morning and right past never stopped walking. Guessing a buck on a mission. Then I grunted in a big slab sided doe. Afternoon; Hurry to get to favorite stand to make repairs so I can hunt it in the morning, and what's bedded at top of the hill 75 yards away? Nice big mature buck jumps up, takes a few bounds, then trots off. Let's see if he comes back in the morning.
  5. Stayed till 9am and have work to do on my favorite stand. It wasn't safe to use this morning so I went to a different stand. Saw two does and two of the smallest fawns I've ever seen this time of year. Lots if big rubs and scrapes by my fixer upper stand. Will get a buck in the morning in that one.
  6. lol.... Deer don't give a hoot about survey tape, and it sure is not about to stop them from going wherever they want. Good grief! They would just walk around the trees instead of between them if they felt like it. Deer go through tangled up crap everyday and its tough to keep them out of anywhere if they have it in their head they want in. Ask my destroyed apple trees that were decorated with dryer sheets, bars of soap and all kinds of stuff that were supposed to keep deer away. The deer still chewed them up until they died. And, even if the guy may be acting a bit extreme, who cares. If he owns the property he has every right in the world to claim it as "all mine". You can still be good neighbors with someone even if they don't want you on their land. Being a good neighbor starts with respecting the other guys rights about what he chooses to do with his property. Isn't there an old saying about good fences making good neighbors?
  7. Finally got back from Alaska yesterday afternoon. Went out for afternoon sit for first time in two years. Saw nothing! The young guy/neighbor/friend who looks after my property here while I'm gone took a real nice buck from one of my stands I told him to use. It's the second year in a row for him to take nice big buck from the same stand. He is happy as heck, and I'm happy for him. I'll post a pic later. Heard some real close shots today, maybe even a little too close really, but I saw zero again this morning. Have to run for some tire sealer for the wheeler, and then back at it! Good luck all. Stay safe!
  8. Hey Law. No I have not. lol But I might soon after I get back up here. I'm flying back in a few days to deer hunt my property in NY. By the way I have pictures of two Brown bears on my back deck before we bought the house. I'm talking right next to the BBQ grill, a couple feet from the sliding glass doors. : 0 I try to post the picture of the bears. Stoneam2006....thanks...glad you liked them.
  9. On that note; this is what was hanging around in my front yard/driveway today! I hope I attached the picture correctly. Oops! I forgot to remind you all, I'm currently in Soldotna, Alaska.
  10. lol...here i am living in Alaska for the past year and looking forward to flying home for deer season and Thanksgiving with the family! I'll go after moose next season.
  11. After seeing that buck I bet people are "dying" to hunt there! : )
  12. In the city? What the heck...lol Nice bucks! Thanks for sharing the pics.
  13. I won't have resident status until one month after moose season this year, but the salmon runs are now coming on strong now, and I am taking time away from work and school papers long enough to go this Sunday. If I can get some time tomorrow I'll try to post a couple of pics of the brown bears taken this year on the Peninsula. The husband of one of the nurses at our clinic took a 9 1/2 foot brown bear. There were several other similar sized taken within a few miles of where I live now. Huge! What also takes getting used to is the moose walking around and through town. I mean right in the neighborhoods! It really is an interesting place. Best wishes from Soldotna, Alaska
  14. You can bet your boots people a crapping their knickers that they got this guy alive. I for one and extremely glad they did. I hope he sings like a canary!! Now it is time for the national media to did in and expose all of the corruption in the NY state civil service system.
  15. Hahahaha.....here bear...here bear....."oh no an acorn almost hit me in the head"! lol.....I think an entire freaking limb clonked her in the noodle at some point! You're looking at a future mauling vic.....ooops almost said victim, not a victim if you invite it.
  16. I thought cabin fever was supposed to get bad up here in Alaska! You boys got a real bad case of something! hahaha
  17. In the 30's (at least) and sunny today when I went out to run errands during lunchtime. Alaska is a balmy place. : ) And the days are getting longer very quickly!
  18. Malingerers who work harder to avoid working, than they would if they did work!
