Sunday looks to be an awesome day here in WNY!! High of 38, NNW wind 10-15 mph, snow showers expected in the morning, and a new moon!!! I think we see some good ones taken this weekend boys......even Saturday looks decent as well when this crazy wind dies down tonight they should be up and moving in the am. Best of luck to all.

Looks like it's gonna be 10-15 mph out of the SW for the next 10 days here in WNY. When I was a kid and first started hunting, I always remembered winds out of the north or west this time of year, never the south!

Had a few youngsters doing some chasing and soft grunting last weekend. Generally the big boys are at least two weeks away from their chase phase or getting "stupid" from my experience over the years. I think we're still a week away from seeing the daylight activity out of the big guys dramatically increase. There is still not much pattern to them right now, other then ranging from 12 to 5 am on my cams. Who knows, its different in each part of the state though.

This has happened twice to me as well over the past couple years. It happened again this Saturday morning. I had a a 6 pt bed about 15 yds from me and 2.5 yr old 10 pt bed 5 yds from me. The ten pt pic is a little blurry he was so close it was hard to focus the cell camera, but I snapped a pic of him when he got up to. Been shooting rocket steelheads, the original rockets and slick tricks will out penetrate almost all other heads and do crazy damage. They both have smaller cutting diameters then most broadheads on the market today. It doesn't matter what head you shoot if you don't make a good shot ,your not going to get the good blood trail, short tracking distances etc. The most important thing is to shoot a head that your most comfortable with and patterns well for you.

You might see a few young bucks chasing does around but nothing to serious yet. I think everyone is anticipating the rut earlier this year because we have been hunting since October 1st instead of October 15th. Normally we would just be getting out there for the first time right now and no one would even mention the word rut until around the 25th. There will be always be a few doe that go into heat rather early but the bigger bucks know that now is not the time to burn that fat off that they have been building up all summer. I hate the phrase the rut is on lol its different all across the state and country.
