for the early season October do deer tend to move in any particular direction in the am vs. pm, meaning do they often move east to west in the am and then move opposite in the pm? Given the land is somewhat flat, food sources are scattered, and tree cover is consistent all over. Didnt know if there are any generalizations that could be made. thanks

I hunt far from my home so I guess I could pack it up and bring it back to wooded area where I do hunt .. lets hope I'm lucky enough to be in that situation. I normally have it processed by someone else but this year may be diiferent.

For those who skin, butcher their deer. How do you properly dispose of the remaining carcass, etc... ?
-
yes , they do. now to save some more $$$

Good luck. sounds like non residents have a good chance to get tags then. Seems like elk and moose are the toughest tags for non-residents going out west as far as big game in lower 48 states.
-
did you need to draw tags for these ?

Has anyone used this search service? how was the experience and how exactly do they operate? thanks

people's thoughts on this public area for bow or rifle?? I was there years ago but wanted to know about people's experiences more recently. I know to still get the special permit but have they changed the accessibility at all? probably stil overcrowded..

take, unless you/ve seen a bunch better in your area

agreed. there are a few shows that are most realistic and actually worth tuning in for but the majority are funded by shooting apparel and equipment companies that have arrangements with ranches that use those feeders and high shooting houses that arent much of a "hunt" to me. Lots of those private ranches are glorified game preserves just on huge acreage , so yes it is different from what we in the northeast think of when it comes time to " hunt".. as far as the ones where they say the "drew the coveted" tag for whatever animal, some of those seem a little too "arranged" with the state permit dept but who knows.

Praying for those whose lost their lives and giving thanks to all that serve our country and allows us the freedom to the hunt.

I may try using doe urine scent this rut season . can anyone share any experiences good or bad that they have had ? and how long should I keep it out in the area that i'm hunting.. one day at a time, couple of nights in a row, or just keep freshening it up every so often ?

mac replied to mossy725's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting

ha sorry totally misread. had my mind on boars! so was your PA trip a DIY one or did you hook up with an affordable outfit? thanks
-
BIZ, where in PA did you go for fair chase hog/boar hunt ?
-
fixed.. why take a chance of mechanicals not deploying. and practice all shooting angles and distances you think you may encounter. Shot placement is the key then there are no worries with the fixed,
-
Kershaw 1/2 ton or small Buck ..only 10-15 dollars case you lose it
