I saw what appeared to be a doe with 2 youngins this am. The largest what Im assuming to be the mama had large very dark tarsals. Is that normal this time of year? what are you guys seeing. Unless it was a buck that recently dropped the headgear but would the tarsals be that large & dark in March?

Zhe Wiz, why do you thinkthe alerts may not work well in the summer? you going to move them to monitor deer movement? -
Whats your fav food while in the woods?
mac replied to WhiteTailBuckDeer's topic in General Chit Chat
Oats & Honey granola bars, apples, banana, peanut butter sand, and water. Come November i usually start dropping one of the Airborne tablets in my water for some added nutrients in hopes of keeping any colds from developing. -
Coyote Hunting with a motion alarm

Wiz, i ended up getting the Chamberlain system to check it out. So far, its working like as expected. I have the sensors positioned to pickup anything moving down the driveway and 2 in the back yard where we get occasional deer moving through. I need to raise the driveway one a bit since it is about a foot off the ground and picks up the raccoons and skunks at night. But the yard ones have accurately alerted us to the 1am deer browsing the yard. the other night i watched one work through our yard and into the neighbors where it walked up 2 steps onto the deck for a few minutes, looked around and continued its path around the house. not a bad price using Amazon either -
soak then in cornmeal & water for awhile to help get some of the sand/grit out

love being on the ground and the challenges that go along with it. tucked in man made blind of limbs, shrubbery, sided up next a stone wall. playing the wind and moving at snails pace to get the bow into position. and being at the same height as the animal vs. looking down from a stand which I also like but being successful from the ground is my preference

ALL 10+ SHOT MAGAZINES ARE GONE
mac replied to Lawdwaz's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
gotcha. from a few retailers I asked, they expect manufacturers to make 7 rd mags for NY just as they did for the current 10rd mag limits. But buying until that point, the mag will probably be a 10 rounder. proud to be a new yorker !!?? -

Coyote Hunting with a motion alarm

Wiz, a lot of the reviews for the product say the volume on the receiver isnt loud enough and that you really need to be right next to it with no other noise going on around you. Can you confirm what the loudest volume setting is comparable to ? Seems like a less expensive package than the Dakota but I want to know if its a case of " you get what you pay for " ? thanks -
Elmo,do you know if this facebook person is from NY / northeast ? or was pic from somewhere else?

Three Superbowl Commercials I Was Proud to See
mac replied to CharlieNY's topic in General Chit Chat
Agreed, the Dodge Ram commercial was the best of all. The rest were awful -
Steve , where did you hear about that? From time to time people in Westchester bring the topic up on this sight but not sure where or which parks actually require it.

need some help with riflescope selectiom

I own a Leupold and a Nikon, both great. The Prostaff seems to be one the best in its price range but I do love the Leupold enough to justify the extra $. I favor having Leupold's Lifetime warranty on it also and have heard nothing but good things about their customer service. As mentioned by others, Vortex also has a good warranty. Nikon-Notso much -
