  1. Not seeing many rubs and scrapes in your area? This may be directly related to an absence of older bucks. According to Karl, one mature buck can make 1,000 to 1,200 rubs per year. Over a 90-day period that is 10 to 15 per day! This means a deer herd with an older age structure and balanced sex ratio can have over 3,000 rubs per square mile! Wow! Makes passing on the 1.5's a little easier. Was talking with the neighboring hunter tonight and he was like if I see a nice spike or 4 tomorrow I'm gonna shoot. I looked at him and said we've been trying QDM the last couple years, maybe you should try it out. Frustrating!
  2. I kept track of my number 1 last year and ended up tracking him to a weekly cycle all through bow. He would show up Monday nights and hang out til Tuesday morning, then suddenly disappeared.
  3. Pretty good article, sure makes ya think about all of the Rut myths. Thanks for sharing.
  4. +1 on the muzzy, I love them and also don't trust mech
  5. That is the first trail cam pic of any bird I've seen, pretty cool. Thanks for sharing.
  6. Got a pic on of our cams of a fawn nursing this week, was really surprised. A lot of fawns still with does too. I wonder if they were "second" rut or if it was a really late rut last year and we just saw early chasing.

    Got 'em!!

Quick field shot, as a wait for the RZR, not the biggest around but came right in grunting on my grunt. Biggest bow kill to date.

    Got 'em!!

Got the 6 I shot this morning! Pics to follow later.
  13. Good afternoon sit. Saw two different bucks, both young, 4 and a gorgeous spike that looked like a wish bone. First I've seen of him and tempted to shoot as that's always been a rack I wanted. They came in 15 min apart and didn't know of the other until they saw each other in the field. Ran right up to each other and started sparring, first time I've ever saw this and was awesome! I'll be back in the AM
  14. Dave, great work with your bird. I've always loved watching hawks and wish I could have the same skill set you've worked on. Keep up the great work and the updates!
  15. If he didn't provide for himself and the bird, the other predators would have "hogged" too. I suppose you'd rather the coyotes "hog" away. SMH
  16. 6 hour sit, only saw "spike lee" at 4, grunted him and got him to come back. Told him to remember that in 2 years. Better than working at least

  18. Wow, what a beast! good luck with him.
  19. In stand now, little windier than I'd like. Hopefully it calms down
  20. Never realized how spoiled I am, we have Lebanon Valley just 20 min away. Some day I'll run the bike, maybe before I sell it.
  21. Good sit tonight, deer moving around. Had the doe and button come in, followed by a 4 who hung out for a little then started chasing the doe around. Good to see some chasing around, especially with that doe.
