    Doe and fawns

With gun only a couple weeks out and pre rut activity, I'll probably let her kick around til then. She shows up like clock work every night at 415.
  3. What is everyone's thought on this? The last few sits I've seen does with fawns. The one doe has a button with her, she is a big ol' cow. I've read that doe will push the buttons away from the area and older mature doe will chase bucks. Is there any truth to this? I've always felt I shouldn't be the one who decides when the fawn and doe aren't together any more so I've never felt comfortable shooting a doe with fawn.
  4. Had a doe and button come in around 415 and hung out past time til 520, stayed in stand until I couldn't hear them anymore.
  5. Brrrr sure is cold today. Lots of birds and squirrels eating, hopefully the deer are moving too
  6. Still laugh when I read this!
  7. I too watched this video a while back and was completely pissed about it. The father should have encouraged him to wait for the shot. Wonder if he had all the right tags.
  8. Awesome! Great buck Geno, congrats!!
  9. I had a great sit! 6 point under stand as I walked in, let him kinda mosey around and went up the hill (he was smaller) After he left I sprayed some ms doe pee on a wick. Got comfy and waited. Lots of little noises until 515 and then a doe walked in the trail under my stand, something was behind her so watched for a bit. At 5 yards a fawn walks in behind her. The graze for 5-10 then cross the creek and leave. Another deer comes down the hill and that as well has a fawn in tow. They stop and eat as well, but the doe stretches out and smells my wick and then goes down the trail the original doe came in. The fawn crossed the creek. Here's where it gets interesting, I hear some rustling and hope it's the big 8 but nothing shows. I get down at dusk, untie my bow and turn. There's a coyote 10 yards away and it barks at me. These f-ers are bold and surely know how to startle you. I ease away from my stand with broadhead in hand and go across the creek. I bumped something on the way out but didn't really feel comfortable hanging out with the yote in the dark. Gonna let it sit a couple days.
  10. Simple enough, they're not making more land ever day. If you have the time and money to invest, do it. Jmo
  11. Sweet video, what are you using for cameras? Congrats!!
  12. I received one about turkey hunting this year, I lost the first one and then sent another. I filled it out but honestly haven't been turkey hunting in a few years. I've always bought a super sportsman license for fear that the DEC would require additional certifications and hoped I could just be "grandfathered in" if they changed, paranoid I know.
  13. Not very windy here, but damn near frigid. Nothing is moving, haven't even seen a squirrel.
  14. I just saw an albino squirrel this week by my parents house. Pretty cool to know others have them around too.
  15. Another coyote today at 430, that's all that's on my cam too. I have 3 of them running together consistent during morning and daylight.
  16. that's from the thread, don't know how to link the thread from tapatalk
  17. http://bowsite.com/bowsite/features/articles/deer/deergeometry/ Pretty sure that's the link to the "test" I will see if I can find the rest from the forums, someone drew it on a piece of paper and scanned it to help explain
  18. Wasn't there a thread last year that had a diagram explaining the math/ angles from tree stands? I think it also had a link to a pretty cool flash app that had different shots and scored you on where you clicked. Anyone have a link to that thread?
  19. Congrats, awesome retrieval of a great looking buck! +1 for deer search!!
  20. Tag out in the first two weeks and not get to enjoy the rest of the season, no thanks. Enjoy the time out there and tell them you're in no hurry. We wait all year for the season, sounds like they are itching to get back out with you since they cut theirs so short.
  21. Let's make something happen tonight, I want some fresh back straps
  22. Just pulled up on a coyote and it spotted me, Dang it !! -edited original
