  2. Welcome! This site has a ton of information and plenty of people hoping to expand the ever shrinking NY hunter population. Just remember everyone has an opinion, if you ask for theirs plan for it to not necessarily to match yours. Depending on where you are, you may even get someone to help ya scout and set up. Good luck this year!
  3. I haven't seen much change yet. Time has been dragging since I put the cams out on Aug 1st. Finally got around to checking the forum, its about that time of year.
  4. Nice buck! Bright white antlers and tall tines. Gotta love the distance from a ML, seems like even with the smokeless powder there is always that couple second delay for the smoke to clear and see the shot. At least this guy fell over and you got to see where he headed. Great job!
  5. I have two Ithaca's 40 anniversary deer slayer for deer and a bird barrel deer slayer for small game, got them both for Xmas for Christmas when I was 16. My most prized possession, I remember going to the gun shop with my father for the first time and picking them out.

    Number 1

So I got out of the woods last night and called my buddy to see how he made out. He said I'm loading one in the truck now, meet me at the shop. I wait for him there and what do I see, a beautiful 10. I looked at the picture of my number one on my phone and look at the deer, wouldn't ya know he shot my number one. Son beech, at least he didn't get hit by a car and I still got to enjoy seeing him. His back straps and heart were delicious last night. My buddy has a great story and I'm happy that he is going to get it mounted. Any thoughts of a score? I'm thinking 120-130
  7. Saw a small buck chasing a doe about 150 out couldn't get them closer around 3 pm, 330 a lone doe snuck pass me caught her just as she started going over the hill into the pines. Buddy of mine shot a deer this afternoon donno what it is yet
  8. Quiet all of a sudden, no shots, no leaves, no birds...
  9. Apparently 649 comes sooner to others than the clock. 3 shots already smh
  10. Alright Grow, you have my mind wondering what can this secret weapon be? I'm eager to see this other thread....
  11. In my stand now, creek is flooded over the banks. Didn't think we got that much rain. Hope the cloud cover fades I'd like to see the eclipse.
  12. After using the field and streams for a little bit, I have to say they are warm! The actual boot is about 3 inches shorter than my Cabelas but the 1000g is warmer than the Cabelas 2000g. The only things I don't like are, they stink like all hell(rubber) even after being covered in mud and walking across creek water and the gussets on the side don't stay closed. Besides that they fit true and aren't terribly expensive.
  13. My number one but haven't seen him in a few weeks, stand or camera. There was some hearsay about a big buck getting hit by a car this week, hope its not true.
  14. drop tine by my #2 stand, took the pic from the video. He was there for a second and took off, video was at 630 in the am.
  15. Don't just scent drag to your stand walk past it and circle then go back to your stand. I've had deer over the years follow the trail. This year though who the hell knows, they are so sporadic that they aren't on just one trail. That is by me though. I've never seen so much inconsistency, one day it's hot the next day is a ghost town.
  16. Solar eclipse tomorrow too, I'd be out during that if I had a chance...
  17. Warm and comfortable, no deer of course. Staying til 11 but starting to feel I may not see anything before then.
  18. Raining now here, hopefully it'll pass quick
  19. Diesel isn't a bad choice but you have to be careful of the diesel growing algae. We can install a 8 kw air cooled gas generator for under 5 grand, it varies by location though.
  20. I'm a dealer for Generac and install quite a few standbys through out the year. They have a great interactive site that answers tons of questions, how big to run what you want, how much fuel it uses, warranties, multiple style transfer switches( load shedding, whole house or stadard) Typically an 8-12 kw runs most homes with the automatic transfer switch ranging from 10-14 circuits. The LP gives you more energy output on each unit by 1kw, 8kw is 9kw in LP. While natural gas is usually always available and constant if you don't have access to it, LP can be expensive in the winter with high demand. Also each unit exercises once a week to make sure they consistently operate normally. If you have any questions feel free to PM me and I can give you my office number, it always helps when you shop to have some ideas.
  21. In the stand for 5 min a nice tall 4 walked in, grunted him but he didn't stop. It's been an active day!
  22. Well some activity this morning, an ugly spike he has one 3 inch nub and the other nub is 4-5 inches with the beginning of another point, a real nice doe but no shot and finally what started to look like a six. The one side is a tall 3 pt but the other side looks to have been damaged and it grew flat and dropped behind his ear probably 8 inches. No good shots but nice to see some deer move. I kicked a 4 up on the way out, pulled the SD cards so hopefully something is on them. Back out later, work permitting.
