    Bobcat!

Good looking out Biz, even if it was open I don't know that I'd shoot. Just a really cool animal to see and appreciate.

    Bobcat!

To be honest I don't know the regulations on them. When I told my father I thought I had a picture of one, he said if you see it don't shoot it.
  3. Wow that looks great, what will the final mount be on? Velvet of some sort I'm guessing?

    Bobcat!

I didn't realize the rarity of being able to see one, glad I got to experience it. I hope no one decides it'll make a nice mount and we continue to get to see them.

    Bobcat!

I was just reading the DEC article saying there they estimate 5,000 in NYS. I shoulda played the lotto tonight... Probably one of the coolest things I experienced while hunting, wish I could have got the cell phone out to snap a picture.... maybe next time

    Bobcat!

So my assumption from last week was correct, I posted a pic of what looked like a bobcat when I zoomed in. Well, today around 6 I see something brown to my left and I ready hoping it was my #1 coming down the trail. I watch and realize its a cat, but not a little house cat. It walked out the trail, stopped and peed on the stump by the bucks rub. I was amazed to say the least. I have never seen a bobcat around and just watched in amazement as it walked up the hill and crouched down for a few minutes. My experience left me with tons of questions, how aggressive are they? If he is peeing near the rub is it common for deer to just vanish from the area? (camera has been bone dry for a week and a half after 30 pictures in the month of Sept.) If there is one, how many more are there? It was great to watch but man it confused the hell out of me. Needless to say I walked out with an arrow in my free hand (felt like the thing to do but probably wouldn't have done any good). I look forward to any input. Thanks! Chris
  7. Culver creek, spend some time this winter making your own syrup. It's a nice break from the winter/spring and its pretty simple. I haven't bought syrup in 5 years!
  8. Not much to see today, a great blue herring scared the crap out of me at 530. I've never heard one call/ squeal and was quite surprised when it took off from the creek behind me. Pulling in my driveway I had 2 doe and a 4 pt in the front lawn, shoulda just hunted from the porch j/k lol. Back out in the morning
  9. Rain drops keep falling on my head, if a doe walks by tonight she'll be dead....
  10. Headed out tonight in about an hour. Hopefully I see my number 1
  11. Fletch you are writing our bow season away, you're a month a head in your time stamps!
  12. Got up to go out this am and it's pouring, seems like that's all it's done for the last two weeks. Back to bed.
  13. I was just thinking about starting a thread about everyone's first deer hunt. Last night in my stand I was thinking about it and the smell of the woods, sure is a privilege to be able to get out.
  14. is that the bow shop out on 9&20 in East Greenbush?
  15. send the site to your home screen as a shortcut app too, I can't find an app in the store. So, if we can have a link under the video that would help out for our viewing pleasure.
  16. For whatever reason when I click on a video link through my iPhone it says error loading
  17. Great story! Glad I'm not the only one who over hunted last week and is dragging a bit this week. Just can't motivate, but this story has sparked my interest for this week. I'll be back out tomorrow now
  18. LOL I froze for 10 minutes in my stand because I thought a stump was a bedded down deer once. Amazing that you want to see a deer so bad sometimes your mind makes you think there is one.
  19. I do a lot of all day sits and have been more than tempted a few times to go buy a ground stand and put a little buddy heater in there. I love my pop up shanty with heat for ice fishing I'd think its the same? -as for being afraid of the fall from a tree, it's not bad just the sudden stop when you hit the ground that hurts- Chris
  20. Could be a scrape or turkeys/squirrels, any overhead branches?
  21. I've never had problems with other hunters, loggers yes. I usually use small game every year to start trending the deer movement after the leaves fall. It's a vast world and never sweat someone else in the woods unless they are in my stand.
  22. Elmo, glad you are ok. I had a fall with a climber when I first started hunting and was "too tough" for a harness. Similar situation slid down the tree and got scratched to hell luckily it was only 10 feet up. I've never been in a climber since and only hunt out of ladder stands now. They are light enough to carry on your shoulder and move them to different spots, but if you are hunting state land you'd have to set it up every time you go out. Good luck for the rest of the season and maybe try ground hunting in a brush blind.
  23. Dave, you take some amazing pictures! Makes me want to be out in my stand, stupid work.
