  1. Could go either way. Seeing the track record alone with folks in this site, I wouldn't put money that this was a lost deer that ran. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Both blow guns and BB CO2 pistols are very likely to be illegal to use as a hunting implement in the state of NY. There are a couple air guns that can fit in a backpack and will exceed the 600 FPS regulation set by the DEC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Hope you find the issue and correct it. Check the scope mounts if you didn't use any loctite. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Nice play on the Bahston accent Eddie. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Had ticks on us Sunday and today. Today's temps were below freezing, and there was a light frost on the ground. The ticks were sluggish, but they wanted blood! Be careful out there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Was checking my zero today on my .25 cal, and was off by 4 inches to the left consistently at 50. Found out later that my shots were clipping a briar from each shot, but not enough to break it off. The briar was around 15 yards. The angle of deflection isn't huge, but at 100 yards, it would have been 8-10 inches off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I think if I had absolutely nothing to do, and I had the space to do it, I'll butcher 3 deer, max. It's quite hard work and labor intensive, IMO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. If you have to shoot through twigs, make sure to shoot the one closest to your target. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Hope you find what you're looking for. Some good people near you that hunt that property, just hope they have time to show you the ropes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I stumbled upon their fishing sale last year, 75% off on tagged items. Needless to say, I picked up quite a bit of stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Thanks for the clarification. Farm building, farm structure that is either occupied or used -- these structures are largely determined on a case-by-case basis. To qualify, the premises alleged to be a farm must be utilized principally for agricultural production for commercial purposes, including but not limited to crops, fruit, hay, livestock, production of dairy products, nurseries/greenhouses. There is no minimum number of acres that must be either owned or farmed to qualify. To receive protection the farm building or farm structure must be either occupied by people or livestock or used in some, even small, degree for storage of farm related tools, equipment or livestock. Excluded would be structures and out-buildings on acreage or lands that are not a "farm" even if they are temporarily occupied. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. He could also be Canadian goose hunting... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Big Bear

If I shot a bear that size, I'd let rigor set in real well before I even thought about tracking it. Congrats to the husband on a bear of a lifetime. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Wow, what a bloody apple! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Decided my air gun was using too much air, so I retuned it to a lower energy and adjusted my 50 yard zero. Took a bit longer than your experience as I also needed to use the chronograph and shoot several strings and record each speed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Every time family gets in trouble with the law, I'm always the one to have to bail them out, so it's best to keep family in check before it gets to that point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I've hiked Drury a few times, never noticed much sign or seen a deer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. I might be wrong, but I don't think live stock or housing for live stock falls under the 500' rule. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Sorry about the lost deer. Sucks it had to happen on your first.
  20. Stay safe out there, even you Belo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. The east fish kill DEP land is not bad. A member here showed us that spot and we enjoyed hiking it. We got a few squirrels from there, and saw some deer and yote sign. You won't be disappointed. There's also a DEC property nearby, Bug Buck. Saw a deer there when we were scouting it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Can't help you with your buddy's situation, hope his wife forgives him. In regards to public land to avoid, I'd avoid Stewart State Forest over in Orange County, 3M. It's a zoo there when rifle season opens. There's quite a bit of State Land in both Putnum and Dutchess, as well as DEP property as well. You'll need an access permit for DEP land.
  23. Bow, shotty, or ML? Interested in big game or small?
  24. Thanks for cleaning it up John, on opening day of all days too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
