  1. Nope...just saying that the 300 savage is a damn good, non magnum deer round round out to the 150- 200 yard range. Magnum rounds are a different story. .
  2. I had a 300 Savage that could stack shots on top of each other at 150yds. 200+ yards...magnums would probably win the accuracy game. But in real life deer hunting situations (for most people) the 300 Savage is a great round. I wish I never sold mine.

    safe act

As long as the gun is a muzzle loader only, and can not accept a different barrel to convert it to a centerfire, you can buy it just like buying a pair of shoes.

    How many deer....

I have never used the same arrow twice. I think Im just paranoid that it wont fly right. Just yesterday I was looking at a broad head that I killed a buck with last year. I soaked it in hot soapy water, cleaned it up and sharpened it. It looks like new. Im thinking hard about putting it back in the quiver.
  5. 30-30 is a very good deer round. You made a good choice.
  6. Pretty sure it was the 783. I saw the rifle and and it had the smooth stock, not that butt ugly 770 stock, with the vertical lines all the way down it. I could be wrong but I think it was the 783. Can't believe Remington continues to put their name on the 770.
  7. Before you know it ,hitting happy hour and drinking till all hours won't even enter your mind anymore. My brother owns a local sports bar where I can drink free. I hardly ever stop in and I don't really miss it. It's all good..

    5 for 5

That should keep you going back....
  9. I was in Gander Mtn. a while back and a guy was dropping off his 783 to be repaired (under warranty) The bolt handle pulled out of the bolt. The gunsmith said he had seen this problem, with 783's before. You should check out the Ruger American. They are a well made, quality rifle that are very well priced. I think they run about $400.00 brand new.

    Deer and Cows

I have been hunting a cattle farm for over 30 years, and I don't know how many times I have seen deer using cow trails,
  11. these dirt bags just know that there is very little chance of getting caught and if they do ....whats the worse that can happen? Will the local authorities even want to take the time to prosecute? Not in my area. Even if they do , whats the penalty? small fine if that? Its sad, but thats where we are with this crap. I think that a good choice is to use climbers. Stash them in the brush somewhere on the way to your tree and pick them up on the way in. Hide them again on your way out. Its a little extra work but you have a lot better chance of keeping your stuff. I have ladders that I keep up, but Im never really sure if they will be there when I want to hunt them. I really hate these little scum bags...
  12. Yeah.. my friend went off the deep end years ago. He will lie, cheat, steal trespass, bait what ever it takes to bag a deer and then brag about it. I don't know what the hell happened to him, but he started going down hill when we got out of bird hunting and more into deer hunting 25 years ago or so. Me and my other hunting buddies all stopped hunting with him years ago. I don't get it..
  13. Did he have a hot blond chick with him (make up done to the tee's) and a video camera? LOL!!! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ SAD.
  14. Some people will do just about anything to come off as an awesome "Hunter" . what can ya do? I know a guy who spent good money to buy 2 sets of trophy deer racks, and then spend even more money to have them mounted to someone else's capes, and then tell people ( who didn't know any better) that he shot the deer. We are no longer friends. The looser parade never ends....
  15. It almost looks like a Post Office training video on what not to do...
  16. Yup.. mine told me the same thing. If you use it to snow plow, haul brush...anything like that you are covered under homeowners Ins. But if its off your property you're on your own.

    Doe Down!!

    Good deal..Congrats..
  18. 30-06 and 270 are both great choices for what you want. The 270 will definitely have less recoil though so I would say go with it, because you WILL buy more rifles as time goes on. I have lost count of how many I have bought, since I was your age. I know that I started out with a 35 Rem. and have owned all kinds of calibers since then. Good luck.
  19. Thats hunting...Its only October 6th. plenty of time.
  20. I have to assume that they know who she is by now.
  21. I saw one once. It somehow got into my friends house. It was in a room that was finished with barn board walls. Every time we got near it it would jump and fly to the next wall. After a while we finally caught it with a blanket and let it out side. It was interesting to say the least. Haven't seen one since.
  22. I showed this video to a relative who works for the PO. She told me that the video was sent to all PO's, nation wide, asking if the fat slob could be ID'd. The PO is crazy strict about diving violations, like driving on lawns and especially backing up.
