The "typical stuff" is #1…Dress in layers. but do it right. remember that you want a base layer and then a layer on top of that to suck the sweat away. 1 or 2 layers of under armor with cotton or polyester over that. Then your heavy hunting clothes.. Wool socks as the first layer with cotton socks over them to suck the sweat away from the wool. And keep your neck warm….Wear a warm knit hat and a neck gator or scarf.. a warm head and neck make a huge difference...

I have a pot roast, with veggies, working in the crock pot, right now. When its my turn to cook I take the lazy road..

Regular Stabil for the non ethanol gas and stabil ethanol formula for the regular 87 Oct. gas. There are several other brands, other than Stabil , that work well too. Just read the labels and make sure they treat the ethanol gas.

Gotta love Ollies..I find killer deals in there year round…Last year, I found Scent Away scent killer spray for $2.99 per bottle, bought the last 4 they had. Found heavy camo face masks (not the light mesh stuff) for $3.99 each and heavy wool hunting socks for $2.99.

Yup..Rut is pretty much over and during the week days there are less hunters out there to push the deer around. I hunted 9x Sat, Sun, Mon. and Tue. Deer sightings got less and less as the weekend passed. We got 2 bucks Saturday and saw a lot of deer, took one buck Sunday and saw less deer. took nothing on Mon. and saw just a few deer, got nothing Tuesday and out of 5 of us I was the only one to see a deer. Heard less shooting as the week went on too.

Jumped some going in this morning, but that was it. Great morning to sit, and there was a little shooting on the neighboring properties. Saw some real big, real fresh tracks on the way out. Met the boys at the barn at around 1130 for an espresso and anisette then headed home. Great day..

Start with the cheapest ammo and work up. If the cheap stuff flies good at the range, then hunt with it. It will work fine. Winchester Power Points, Remington Core Lokt, Federal Power Shocks..are all basic hunting ammo that will work well on deer.

Sunday morning about 745, the land owner shot an 8 point that was tending a doe out in a field. The buck actually mounted the doe twice and was in full hump mode….After the buck climbed off, the second time, the owner cracked him through the ribs with his .223

Im heading out…I have taken several deer on past Thanksgivings, and even if I don't see a thing, I love being out there on Turkey day….. on the way out, successful or not, we meet at the barn for a holiday toddy, shoot the breeze for a little while and then head to our separate family events…Its one of my favorite, if not my favorite, days to hunt……Good luck to all and happy Thanksgiving...

Had some Hofmann's over the summer and they seemed as good as ever. Wouldn't be surprised if, since now they're big business, they change the recipe or go to a different ingredient maker, to save money. PS- Cooneys suck!!!!

Same here…Lightfields, since 1994-95 in my rifled barrel. Before that the only Foster slugs that my smooth bore Winchester and Mossberg liked were Federals.. I took my old Winchester smooth bore out to the range a couple years ago. Iron sights. It was still stacking the old Federal slugs at 50 yds..and I hadn't touched the thing in years….

Right behind the shoulder/middle of ribs... I have a couple of those bass akward rifles too…Believe it or not,,they work…LOL

I always use the 91 ethanol free stuff, with a shot of stabilizer. Never had an issue. We got down to camp Tue. and my buddys Yamaha 600 wouldn't start.. Its been sitting for months. We tried fresh gas, starting fluid, spraying gum out in the carb..nothing worked. He had to bring it to a small engine place for a carb rebuild.. $140.00 , He almost didn't have it for opening day. Mechanic told him that the old crappy gas gummed the crap out of everything. You could smell the varnish in the carb…Use the ethanol free stuff and stabile. Its only a few bucks..well worth it..

WHAT??…...Take the damn photo you want to take, and don't let people tell you how YOU should photo YOUR deer. Next deer I get will be photoed over the hood of a 74 Chevy wagon, gut side out, with blood covering the hood, toungh hanging out, and with me in a Sponge BOB T-shirt, sweat pants and a freaking Sombraro……. Maybe have Walmart in the background…… Its YOUR memory..

Just got back from watching the game at a local watering hole Great game and It was insane in there….The wife is a HUGE Giants fan. She didn't say a word the whole way home and when we got home she walked directly upstairs and slammed the bedroom door…. I have the downstairs to myself!!!!!!! GO PATS !!!!!
