  1. Ruger No.1's are defiantly made here…. LOL!!
  2. For the past several years I have been using the same rifle for stand and still hunting. Ruger M77 wood stock in .7mm-08. I wouldn't consider it light weight but its not bad. When I hunt near my house, its shotgun only so I use my old Winchester 1300 topped with a 1 1/2- 4 1/2 x32. Thats actually a fairly light gun.
  3. WOW..that would be big of you!!!
  4. I have no problem using ATV's for hunting, I would never go tooling through someone else's hunting spot though. I park a good 200+ yards from my stand. One of my best spots is over a mile away from the road and all hill. Im still in decent shape but why leave camp 45 minutes early and get to a stand drenched in sweat when you can ride there with out bothering anyone else??
  5. I just assume that if a business offers an employee discount, then they wouldn't want employees reselling the items at a profit. But if an employer says "hey do want you want with the items we sold you at a discount" then I guess you're right. Anyone ever work for someone who said that??
  6. With me, some things don't have to be defined by Policy or rules. I think people should just know if something is right or not. ( a foreign concept in todays "ME" world…. I know) There are no posted rules about cutting ahead of people in check out lines but I would never do it and say "theres no rule so…." There is no written rule or law, that I know of, saying you have to be quiet in a movie theater, but I would never sit there talking on my cell phone and yucking it up during a movie and say "theres no rule so…" I would never think to take my grandmothers handicap parking plaque and say "hey I got the plaque so I can park there if I want.. I guess my problem is that I put ethics and decency in the same category.. Keep doing what you want I guess.
  7. Oh yeah… He has taken some good bucks with it. One year he drilled one that was walking along a hedge row, well over 200 yds. out. The deer didn't go 20 yards. I don't know what load he shoots but he hand loads, and what ever it is it works very well.
  8. Two guys that I hunt with use them. One is an old Mauser in 6.5 Swedish the other is an old Japanese Mil surp in 7.7mm. Both rifles are scoped and they both flatten deer.
  9. The local Gander has piles of the stuff. Names like "Deer cain" "Buck snort" "Rack Master". All of the packaging have pictures of deer, but right in the middle of this feed section is a sign that says the products are not to be used to feed or attract deer in NY.. I always just shake my head when I see that.. Too funny
  10. Yeah,,the weird part is the rifle was shooting the Remingtons just fine… Wondering if the ammo went bad.
  11. I went to the range today with my Remmy 700 (lefty) in 30-06. I haven't fired the rifle in about 5 years. It was dialed right in at 100yds with 150 gr. Remington core Lokts. Today they flew like $hit. High right (same box of ammo from last time I shot it). I tweaked it and after 8 rounds I got it at about 3-4". Not impressed. For the hell of it I ran some cheap Winchester 150 gr power points through it. It shot about 1" with no adjustments!! Im stumped. It never liked the power points over the Remingtons. Im glad it grouped the Win's well and I now have confidence in that load but, wondering what the hell happened..
  12. So if a Company has no rule for reselling for a profit, but they fire you for doing just that, which they will, What do you call that?? Unlawful termination??
  13. Not a gun mishap…but..years ago a friend and I were bow hunting. We hunted until noon. We got back to his Ford Bronco and loaded up to head home. We headed down the seasonal road about 100 yards and stopped at the stop sign at the paved road. He stopped kind of fast and "Scrape, bang, thud!!" My friend had left his bow on the roof, just above the windshield. When he stopped it slid off, skidded across the hood and ended up oh the pavement in the middle of the road. The stabilizer and all of his sights snapped off and the fletching on his arrows were shot. it also scratch the hell out of the hood of his nice shinny Bronco.. He blamed me all the way home!!! LOL!!
  14. But f your company would sell you an engine at an employee discount, you would resell it? And if your company fired you for that, why would you think you were being fired??
  15. Price aside, these are amazing rifles. I know 4 other guys that have them in centerfire. They all rave about the way they shoot. Now I know what they mean. I might take them back out tomorrow.

    Decoys

I have never tried deer decoys. Have had some success with turkey decoys. I have been saying, for a while that I was going to try setting out goose decoys, in the field, just off of my turkey decoy(s) in the spring. I think it might calm them down a little. Every year I watch turkeys calmly walk right on by geese in the field. Havent gotten around to it yet. Too lazy to pack in the deeks I guess.. One of these days tho...
  17. Belo…….Stop reselling for a profit…. Your rationalization for doing so tends to make me think that you do it often. Its UNETHICAL.. Your uncle fixed up a free car that was given to him and then sold it????? A hunter dancing around a wounded deer until it dies??? WTF are you even taking about?? You yourself said that people caught buying on their employee discount and then reselling for a profit would most likely be fired. Why would the employer fire the person for that?? Do you think ethics has anything to do with it?
  18. I finally got out to shoot my 2 new Ruger Americans today. One in 25-06 and the other in .22Mag. Impressive. After some tweaking, the 06 shot under1"at 100yds. The 22Mag was stacking them at 75yds. If anyone is on the fence about buying one,,,go for it.They shoot.
  19. I never have but two good friends have. One friend had a fat hippie chick follow him, on the throughway for quite a ways. She pulled along side of him flipping him off and screaming at him because he had a deer on his hitch carrier. Another friend had a bunch of protesters, young and old, under his tree stand clanging cow bells, singing and yelling all kinds of stuff at him. That was on public land.
