For me it more of liking the rifle then needing the caliber. I have my eye on a sweet 700 lefty. .270cal wood stock and blued steel. Gorgeous rifle and it shoulders great. I already have a 30-06, 25-06 and a 7mm-08…..But I might just add a 270 because I really like the rifle.

I like all dogs but labs are #1 IMHO. I have a chocolate myself…Good luck !!

I also have a Colt Trooper MKlll 6". I bought it a few years ago for $500 (I think) . The big difference between the Python and the Trooper MKlll was that the Python had a lot more hand fitting done to it than the Trooper did. The MKlll Trooper is still a damn fine, top of the line revolver. Mine was made in 1971. I found its original price tag with the paper work……..$145….LOL!!! But that wasn't chump change in 71. I would love a Python but….hard to find and crazy$$$$

It finally started to thaw, a couple weeks ago. I took the dog down to the trails yesterday and there is as much dirt/mud as there is snow now. Its going to be 60 out tomorrow!!!! Im picking up a new ATV in a few days and its getting broken in, no matter what its like outside !!

That deer made it through a rough nasty winter only to fall to these low life scum…What a shame…...Poachers are S#!T stains !!!!

Uninsulated knee high rubber Lacrosse boots. I prefer a lighter, lace up style boot but I have a small creek to cross (most days) and there are some other wet spots to deal with.

Very cool. I have only seen one in all my years of hunting.

Being afraid of what antis might think of all gun owners, because some people choose to hunt with legal AR's, is beyond silly IMHO. I look at it as proving that the guns that antis love to hate (and don't fool yourself, most antis hate ALL guns) serve another purpose other than target shooting and self defense and are being used responsibly and legally.

And I have said that as long as the rifle is legal, and the person follows the rules, he should be able to hunt with it with out being second guessed. If the rifle is illegal in NY then NO he shouldn't do it (obviously) Like it or not he can use any legal rifle he wants even if its "just because" If you're telling me that you don't have a big hang up with people using AR's for hunting…..well okay… I guess I read you wrong…Sorry

Its clear, to me, that Some of the "No AR's for hunting" crowd ASSUME that people who choose AR's to hunt with, are a bunch of Rambo wanta be gun strokers, who just want a reason to run through the woods, with their "Assault Rifles"doing barrel rolls and ripping off 30 round mags at any deer they see, while wearing full camo, face paint and boot knives. The fact that a hunting AR is restricted to only five rounds, that it might fit a person well, and is actually a good rifle for hunting will never register with some folks. They can't bring themselves to get past the looks of the AR and that it, like some sporting rifles, can use hi cap mags. You just don't need it…..end of story.

In my area Dick's and Walmart make you show a pistol permit if you want to purchase pistol ammo.( even if you tell them its for a long gun) Its just their stupid CYA rule. Its not a law. The local gander Mtn. and some small shops don't ask for a permit.

I hate to think where we would be right now, if the sick S.O.B's who carried out the attacks that started all of this "assault weapon" nonsense, had used pump action shot guns……...

What if he does want to hunt with his expensive rig ,just because it looks "Bad ASS" So what??? As long as the rifle is legal to hunt with and he is following the rules….Why do you care ?

Thats just it. I think he is against owning AR's for hunting. In a previous post he said that he didn't think AR's were doing us much good in the deer woods and a lot of his points are focused on the looks of AR's and the ability for them to accept hi cap mags.

Why do YOU think that is??? Is it that guys find the AR to be an accurate, reliable rifle that fits them better than other rifle styles, or do you think these guys just use that as an excuse to own a rifle that , in your opinion, "No civilian needs"?????? And why is it that game laws say that you can only hunt water fowl with 3 rounds but most guys hunt them with guns designed to hold 5-7 rounds????

My favorite, by far, are mouth calls. I like lite, higher pitched sounding calls. I just picked up a couple of "Turkey Thug" mouth calls. One is "Young hen" the other is called "Double Plus" Both sound great!! I have heard a lot more young, higher pitched sounding hens than I have heard "Raspy old hens" …What self respecting Tom wants a Raspy old hen over a young hen anyway ???
