burmjohn replied to nyslowhand's topic in DIY - Do It Yourself, tutorials and videos
If you get into it, I could use a nice knife. -
What would have done that?

I've only hunted 3J, 3H, and 3M - in 3J where I spent 99% of my last 15+ years, I too used to go seasons with out seeing a buck.

I prefer the morning but love both. I've had pretty good / even success and sightings with both times of the day.

I hope so, it was like a river in front of my house this morning. And a lot of street closures due to the flooding.

Rechargeable Spotlights - Suggestions?
burmjohn replied to burmjohn's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Sweet, just ordered it then comes to 61 bux shipped to my door. -
You can't spin the numbers, the calculation you did was if there was a decrease. You don't divide by the second number, you divide by the number you START with. Regardless, good luck w/the buck, your fortunate to have those types of opportunities.

I'm not trying to make things how "I want", its the proper calculation of percentage increase and decrease. 1. The first step is to find the difference between the two numbers: 1245 - 876 = 369 2. Take the result of that and divide it by the original number: 369 / 876 = .4212 3. Multiply this last number by 100: .4212 * 100 = 42.12% Thanks

burmjohn replied to burmjohn's topic in General Chit Chat
Its gritty... But I like it. -
Actually its 11.9% for 3J and 3H is correct at + 42% (the largest WMU as well)...

Just as a side note, I have requested information from the DEC via email over the past few months and have received zero response. Granted, they prob receive a lot of emails, however, not one response other then one for requesting the log book. I asked for historical stats by WMU, I asked for more info on AR, I asked for historical data on the bow hunters log. Not one response. If they had this data available publicly as they should I would not ask. This is our agency that we pay for, its kind of sad that the data is not available for public consumption in one form or another expecially in this day and age when everything is stored in databases.

Predate - I would give them 48 hours to respond. But I emailed this morning and had a email by the afternoon that my log was on the way.

In the chart from the DEC report Larry posted. Which is irrelevant due to the numbers statewide dropping from 140k bucks to 89k bucks statewide from 2000 to 2005 which skews the results and has yet to even come close to returning to the 2000 numbers well before AR was implemented. In 2009 there were 102,057 bucks taken statewide.
