Youth Hunt info also here: http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/86468.html New York's first Youth Firearms Deer Hunt was held during the Columbus Day weekend, October 6-8, 2012. See the Youth Deer Hunt Photo Gallery for pictures of successful junior hunters. 2012 Results Final Report: 2012 Youth Deer Hunt in New York State (PDF) (677 kB) 1,411 deer taken (53% antlered and 47% antlerless deer) 61% of eligible junior hunters participated (7,779) non-participation was primarily influenced by lack of awareness of the Youth Deer Hunt and, to a lesser degree, by time conflicts during Columbus Day weekend. Hunters took approximately 243,000 deer (124,000 antlerless deer and 119,000 adult bucks) during the 2012-13 hunting seasons, about 6 percent more than were taken the previous year. Increases were most pronounced in the Northern Zone where total take (30,840) increased 15 percent from 2011. In the Southern Zone, the adult buck take (about 98,570) increased 6 percent and the antlerless take (110,900) increased 5 percent from 2011. The 2012 harvest reflects deer populations that are greater than desired levels in many parts of New York. Increased take of antlerless deer will be necessary in 2013. Full PDF Report (Click Here)

I know hunters that don't eat venison either, they hunt for the sport and they give it to family members that do not hunt and enjoy venison. In fact the one guy that hunts with us gives his deer to a disabled vet that loves venison.

I watched the first show finally, it was interesting. Some parts were funny... I'd watch it again, its better then 90% of the shows on the Outdoor Channel.

Watching the stream on this now, they said 2 people died and 22 people injured from a few explosions. No idea what the explosions are from yet though. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/04/15/explosions-finish-line-boston-marathon/2085193/?csp=fbfanpage
