yes we do this for fun but usually they guy getting shot is not able to talk about it after. This is about 30 miles from my home. What a moron or pair of morons.

I am a big fan if the 25-06 with 115 grain bullets. I am just wondering how one measures how fast a deer dies? I mean dead is dead. If the deer runs 50 yards and dies it is still dead. If it drops in its tracks it is still dead. Do you start a stop watch when you pull the trigger, or is there some new technology I have missed.

the best one I remember is when their lamp went out and they spent the night on the river 50 yards from the dock. They both take things in such a layed back way. Sad for sure

what Ted says and does is much less of a problem then the mother --------- we send to washington and albany to represent us.
-
can we get a nuge forum? He seems to be dominating anyway. You don't think the anit's love reading us arguing over who should be our fearless leader? Dissension among the ranks is what they want. So keep it up because you are doing more damage than one guitar playing idiot form Michigan ever did. Now lets agree to disagree and move on.

any song posts yet? I sure would like to hear some Uncle Ted

I love that album. Can you play a couple tracks?
-
I sure wish someone would post an album cover. maybe cat scratch fever.

I have heard about it and heard that turkeys will take over a spot and more or less push the deer away over food. I plant tons of food plots, so there should be no worry there.
-
I concur and a nice one too

I don't know. I kind of wondered if maybe there was a hen nesting close and they were protecting that. I honestly have no clue. But I do know the deer took off like they were shot at.

I was at camp after work. While sitting on my front porch in a chair of all things, three deer came out in the meadow across from the camp around 6 or so. They appeared to be all does, but no fawns. Anyway about 10 minutes after they came out, two turkeys both males came in the other end of the field maybe 150 yards away. Well after a few minutes, the turkeys headed toward the deer. They got about 20 yards away fluffed up and chased the deer off the meadow. They took off like they were shot out of a cannon. Then the turkeys milled around in the meadow and headed toward the roost area. I never saw anything like it in the past. Of course no camera with me.

sorry I dont drink coffee. I do not need the caffeine.

actually you are number two. I am in the field a lot in fact I am going shortly. What are you doing today except looking like a fool? And I read sit and call in the New York State Hunting regulations guidelines book. You should open a copy sometime. There are pictures in it too. I also teach it at classes. Maybe a refresher would help you. Now you go back in the box because your attempts to be a bad a- - are not working and are quite frankly boring. Bye bye
-
just as an fyi it would be accepted excepted would me something entirely different. I would explain to you, but sometimes it is better to look it up yourself. You learn that way.
-
plus I read sit and call not stalk is the recommended way to hunt. But I know rules only apply to some. And BTW my apology was facetious in nature. (that means it was sarcastic) (that means it was not a real apology) I expected even you would figure that out. I know why I made an idiots list now.
-
well I certainly apologize that my strategy does not meet your definition of hunting. However it does meet mine, and I have been seeing birds regularly. And I guess my definition is the only one that matters to me. The "fun" in it is being out there enjoying nature and my time there with just me and my thoughts. Killing a bird is the secondary part of a true hunt.

you might not be so bad after all.

I would shoot what you feel comfortable with. A 100 grain sierra will kill a deer easily. I personally use a 25-06 with a 115 grain bullet. Most tell me it is too light for deer also. Put the bullet in the right place with any center fire and the deer is yours. The idea that you can make a poor shot with a bigger caliber and still have the deer seems a bit over confident to say the least. Practice a lot get good and fill your freezer. The only reason I carry a heavier caliber on occasion where I hunt is the fact we have bears there also. I would be sketchy with the 243 or 25-06 around those guys.

actually I am not seeing much for hens, but between 10 and noon seeing gobblers moving around. I can not get one close enough yet to shoot, but I will keep trying. I put out hen and jake decoys this morning and they acted like they were not even there. I think I need to leave the new shotgun at home and break out the muzzleloading one.

well that sucks I hope it heals quickly to get back out there

thanks pygmy

as stated, I would like to trade some brass. I have the following for trade 100 270 brass once fired and resized to 25-06 mixed head stamps. Brass has been resized and length sized. Need priming and loading. 100 30-06 brass once fired mixed head stamps. Deprimed only. I can size and tumble if desired. I am looking for some 45-70 brass. I do not need that many maybe 50 or so. I will trade all of the above for 50. Thanks for looking

IN the area here, a local farmer plants either alfalfa or corn on a piece of state land. They have to leave a certain amount every year for feed. So I guess in a way it is a food plot. I would contact the DEC to make sure.
