bh209 is a little hotter, so it may shoot higher due to higher pressures. But that is a simple adjustment.

I have heard several stories of people using pellets having a hard time getting good tight groups. That is why I have always used and will always used loose powder. I can change loads by 5 grains to get a great group. I wonder if anyone reloaded centerfire if they would settle for an ok group due to convenience of pellets. I also dislike the price per shot of pellets. Some people are happy with a 5 inch group at 100 yards. I am happy with a 5 shot bullets touching group at 100 yards. With some work, there is not a muzzleloader built that can not acomplsh that.

bore buter is a major contributor to rusting barrels. It holds moisture in. Sometimes depending on the powder, and I found shockey to be an offender, solvents do not clean it well enough to say it is clean. . The good old hot soapy water then dry well and oil will be better. If you switch to blackhorn 209, some hoppes and oil will be all you will need.

how are you cleaning and lubricating the barrel? That can make a big difference.

what did you settle on for a load?

Asking this question is like asking which bullet do I use. I personally am a nikon fan. I have the new prostaff 2x7x32 I put on my 45 caliber barrel for my encore. I have been using 3x9x40 and find it is never above 4 power where I hunt. Glass is clear, they hold poi and hold up to a muzzleloader. Just my opinion. If you feel you need more power, which I would seriously doubt with a ml, go to the 3x9x40. The 2x7 is 130 bucks at walmart here.

The only way I find to get rid of them is a total format and wipe it clean. I use IE on here. Just because something started loading on the puter while on this site, does not mean it came from this site for sure.

ok I have been doing some cleaning out. I have for the first person who wants them some speed loaders. I have three cva green 50 caliber speed loaders. Theu hold a bullet and 100 grains of powder. I also have 3 54 caliber t/c speed loaders. These are magnum loaders that hold the 209 primer as well as bullet and powder. These are free and I would porefer to send them all out together. If you can use one set and know someone else who can use the others feel free to grab them up. Yell for them on th epost and pm me your address and they will be on the way. Both sets are new and used once.

I shoot 90 grains of blackhorn 209 a 240 grain .430 hornady xtp in a harvestor crush rib sabot> ( I buy both in bulk and put them together) I use a cci regular 209 primer. Accuracy is great and knock down power is more than enough. -

good for you. Now if the no good judge desides to do something to them it wil be worth it -
The fact is most lands is not posted due to liability. It is posted due to abuse by people thinking they can just use it and leave their messes, bring every buddy they ever knew and trash the place as if they owned it. Look up hunter image and see what it says. It would seem to be that all the people who think it is fine to tresspass do not own hunting land. If they did, it would be no one can hunt here with posters every 5 feet. Ask many farmers why they post there are stories of cows getting shot, people destrying fences leaving trash and one gets permission 15 show up. The fact is you all own hunting land. It is called state land. Look some up and hunt it. Buying a hunting license does not give you a pass to hunt anywhere you deem necessary. My land is not posted, and I have no intention of posting it. However, the gate across my driveway would suggest to me that I do not want you there. If I did, I would give you a key to the lock on the gate.

I looked over there yesterday. I have the 45 a 50 and 54 in modern and sidelock and flinter. I am thinking the 45 will become my go to. Although I am also looking forward to shooting the 54 renegade and hunt with it next fall round balls goex ffg and #11 caps. I have been shootign encores for many years and contenders before that. I find most of the "fixes" are gimmicks more than help. So I stick with the original stuff. That being said, I have never had a t/c barrel that was as accurate as a bergara barrel. All my t/c barrels shoot well but ut seems to take more work to get them to do so. And even after that, they are not as accurate so far.

Why Did we Creat HuntingNY.com?
bubba replied to burmjohn's topic in Hunting New York Annoucements and News
Think of this as hunting therapy. You come here you vent expresss your heart felt opinions (vent)feel better then go do what you tell everyone else not to. The internet is a great place for people to spew due to the fact no one really knows you. If we were all in a big room, teo thirds of what is said on here would never be said face to face. In my profession, I study human behavior a lot, and it is my job to know these things. As was mentioned before, if this forum gets to you, you must be in real therapy once a week or so. Take it as face value and remember you can always shut it off. I was from NYDEER also and Fasteddie drug me over here. Probably for the entertainment value, but I am here. Now for all your therapy of the day GET OVER IT . Just remember everything on here is opinion and we all know about opinions. They are like buttholes. Everyone has one and they usually stink. -
the faactory pin. They lock up well. looking forward to shooting them

as an early Christmas/ birthday present to myself, Bubba Santa brought me a 45 caliber bergara barrel for my encore. I have the 50 cal bergara also, and I love the barrels. Inheritantly more accurate than any t/c barrel I have owned. But that is another story. He also brought me a nikon prostaff 2x7x32 scope for it. I had to but the bullets and sabots. 40 cal 180 grain xtp.s and harvester sabots for now. I hope to get out and shoot it this weekend now that deer season is over here in the nz. Oh almost forgot he brought me the bergara 7-08 also.

me too. It is all good. If I cant laugh at myself no need to laugh at all.
