Not true at all. I wear green plaid and you will not find anyone who is more of a legal hunter than I am. to say that legal hunters wear orange is simply a blanket statement. An illegal hunter will not want to blend in. So make another law illegal hunters will not follow. I see how that will work. -

so a guy who is trespassing and knowingly breaking the law is going to obey a BO law to get caught. -

There could be a guy in the woods with a shotgun then hunting small game. Just saying in for a penny in for a pound. More people get shot during turkey season wearing camo than anytime. Seems to me you would eb taking your life in your own hands. -

Fred is a friend of mine. he has traveled here to hunt at camp. Just trying to drum him up some business. I might better not have probably.

No one gets a ticlet for hunting after hours. Throw the fool in jail

For many years it was the way we hunted. we id a huge swamp on state land. All the ridge hunters would push the deer into the swamp and we would move them around. No one wore orange, everyone knew where everyone was ans no one got shot at or even close. we shoot a lot of very nice deer that way. I disagree that you never see deer after you start driving. We saw as many after a drive was done trying to sneak back to where they were driven out of. Plus if you sit still after a drive it is not time to go home, it is time to sit there and wait a while. The deer do not move out of the county. they go back arounda and go back to where they were before you drove. We have driven a section of the swamp in the am go back in the pm drive it again see deer again. It is not rocket science.

Would You Support a Blaze Orange Compromise?

The truly sad part is if the hours were changed, those who now admit they already use those hours will again push it by another 15-20 minutes. They want the orange to think they are safely breaking the law. High light gathering scopes etc. I find it funny everyone says deer do not see it it is so much safer, then will not wear it during bow or ml season. If the deer do not see it and it is so much safer, why would you not wear it all the time you are in the woods? I have asked that question several times and no one ever answers. It can not be both ways. -

And Ny does not have any more and in fact less incidents than PA does. Coincidence? -

From the DEC, Almost every hunting "accident" occurs while the parties involved were already breaking the law. for instance hunting after hours, everyone trying to be the person in the group to fill the last doe permit even if you are not in possession of it etc etc etc. I do not see how making a new law will curb that. There are several argument for and against. Also form the DEC they are not in favor of mandatory BO. I have seen it here in responses when the person got shot hauling his deer out on a cart. Oh I wonder who was at fault, maybe the guy hauling the cart was not wearing orange. All it does is conditions hunters to look for orange, not a viable target. It does not condition people to be safer. if it is orange, they pay less attention, and if not they get more anxious to pull the trigger. So I would ask if these are the times that seem to be the most of these accidents happen is after legal shooting hours now, then the DEC is on the right track by not expanding the hours. Why would you want to take the chance at lower light if that is when people get shot? I would think you would want to be out of the woods and safely in your vehicle. Wearing orange gives you a false sense of security. So my answer to both is NO. unless it was made mandatory for all big game hunting in NY. Then you could legally sneak in that after hours hunt with a bow also. -
no that was not your intent. You said you could have as many as they were transferrable, which has nothing to do with drawing your own.
-
Again and not surprisingly you are wrong. You are only allowed to have 2 transferred tags per season. The numbers have to be put on your tag and there are only 2 spots to do so. You will find this information on page 33 of the regulations guide Top left paragraph 4th bullet point down.

Contrary to popular belief, some people cut their own up. I prefer my money in my pocket.

Nice NNY deer

Nice northern tier deer Tom.

myth. I have let a deer hang for a couple days to cure it and I have taken deer in warm weather in the morning and had it in the freezer in the afternoon. No difference in taste

As I have read on here, most are not willing to report someone as they are concerned about repercussions. They will get even somehow. We hav ebecome a society afraid to stand up for itself. Always wanting someone else to do it.

Working 7am to 7pm. But at triple time I am so there.

That is the exact same thing you find in pork. Cook it well done and you will be fine.

I personally look more for deer size than rack size. I would shot a bigger bodied 6 over a smaller bodies 10 any day of the week.Passing on a bad shot was by far the best thing to do. You will be rewarded soon

Anyone following this Ferguson stuff going on?

There is a list out now that is planned for all over the country albany rochester and spring valley as well as two places in nyc. This is a wewll organized attack across the country. Can you say martial law. Anyone wanna guess where the organization started? we all better be prepared -
I do not see how you think saving year old bucks is good when quite a few get shot and have doe tags put on them before they even get a first set of antlers. How many more bucks would we have to become big racks. But the 30 pounds of meat is worth it I guess, Kind of like saying kill them as fawns,is ok but not as a spike or a crotch horn, seems hypocritical to me. I know the old argument there was no way to tell, but an animal size restriction makes more sense to me. But again shooting fawns is easier. Plus if people had to take the time to look a deer over to be sure it was not a button buck or doe fawn, I bet the incidents of people getting shot and shot at would drop. Brown is down is dangerous.
